Batman Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 (edited) well, something needs to change a little. need to be a great deal quicker on the ball etc My team -----------------Stek Cedric-----Fonte----VvD---Bertand ---------------Romeu -------Davis------------Clasie Mane--------Long--------Juanmi Davis, Yoshida, Tadic, JWP, Vic, Pelle, Gaston That front 3 would be FAR more mobile, fluid than what we have had for a while and ay actually cause something to happen outside of the first 15 mins....either way, something has to change Edited 5 December, 2015 by Batman
Graffito Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 Stop Bolassie and Zaha and we'll get at least a point.
saint97 Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 I am a bit worried about Bolasie on Cedric for this game.
Whitey Grandad Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 I am a bit worried about Bolasie on Cedric for this game. It's an away game - Cedric won't be playing. Start getting worried about Bolasie on Yoshida.
Supersubpuckett Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 this will be a straight forward win for palace, we are now a very ordinary side
mrfahaji Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 (edited) Managed to get tickets for this, the membership finally paid off! Selhurst Park was also my first ever away game (Dowie brace in a 2-1 win, Salako missed penalty... 1992 I think). When I bought the tickets I was optimistic for 3 points, not so now... I thought our best team was obvious until recently, now I'm not sure who our two best defensive midfielders are, individually or as a combination. While I don't disagree that Mane is more effective more centrally, it's easy to say "push him up next to Pelle" without suggesting how to plug the gaps elsewhere. First of all, who takes his place on the right? Secondly, how do we cover the extra ground in midfield when our midfield already look to be sorely lacking mobility? Pamplemousse Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 Koeman will shut up shop and it will be a dull 0-0 draw. It won't be pretty but it might be needed to give the defence a confident boost going into the Spurs and Arsenal matches.

Juanmi impressed today and we need to mix things up a little
Saints foreva Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 Hopefully the away support will be decent...
Sour Mash Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 Hopefully the away support will be decent... Yeah, good luck with that.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 It's an away game - Cedric won't be playing. Start getting worried about Bolasie on Yoshida. Maybe we should play Cedric in front of Yoshida . Go for a very defensive 4-5-1 . Doubling up on both their wingers with either Ryan B in front of Martina or somebody disiplined to play in front of RB . Although not his greatest fan JWP is quite tactically aware and maybe could do that . Then play Big Vic and RO to stop Cabaye , with Davis playing slightly forward of those 2 and Mane up top alone to hit them on the break . Would be boring as hell , but 0-0 would do for me . Palace are better when they can break quickly , if we sit 2 banks of 4 and a worker like Davis in the 10 role , they'll struggle to break us down .
Dig Dig Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 I'd go with that starting 11 too. Juanmi impressed today and we need to mix things up a little It would be terrible. Bolasie and Zaha would have a field day.
John Boy Saint Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 Trip on the train for this, think the beer might get skipped and straight onto the shorts just to numb the brain in readiness. The one bonus is they will play to win, unlike Villa who just played not to lose.
brianu Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 drop JWP, Pelle, & Tadic bring on clasie, juanmi & long
The boy done well Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 Wife's fractured her upper arm so I won't be able to go. Got 3 concessions available at cost ie £26+£20+£20 and admin fees of £7.50 (Total £73.50). Must be Saints fans. PM or supply email address if interested. First to take all 3 can have them
Saint Charlie Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 One thing...Long isn't the answer to anything.
Toomer Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 Koeman will shut up shop and it will be a dull 0-0 draw. It won't be pretty but it might be needed to give the defence a confident boost going into the Spurs and Arsenal matches. I would take that right now.
rick1976.4.38 Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 palace I think have only won 3 at home this season,so its not all doom for us,i'd take a point but three like last season would be good
mrfahaji Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 One thing...Long isn't the answer to anything. "What is the opposite of short?"
Tom28 Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 One thing...Long isn't the answer to anything. The way things have been lately, he'd be the first name on the team sheet for me. Offers pace, work rate, tenacity, and one of our best finishers. He lifts the players around him by chasing down lost causes. Our lot need all the lifts they can get. Was madness to a) not start him against Villa and b) leave it until the 80th minute to bring him on.
johnnyboy Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 "What is the opposite of short?" I lolled !!

Roger Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 Stek Fonte van diyk yoshida Cedric. Bertrand Reed Romeo Davis Mane juanmi Subs:gaston, Vic, Pelle, tadic, gazzaniga, long, seagar.
Pancake Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 Stek Fonte van diyk yoshida Cedric. Bertrand Reed Romeo Davis Mane juanmi Subs:gaston, Vic, Pelle, tadic, gazzaniga, long, seagar. ****ing hell! I'll have a couple of what you've been sinking sir....
mrfahaji Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 Tall. Haha, good one, maybe Saint Charlie is right after all...!
Matthew Le God Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 van diyk Romeo seagar Will you give them the honour of learning to spell their names correctly before they leave the club?
beatlesaint Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 Palace not too good at home, we have only lost one away, 1-0 to Saints, Mane scoring.
Saint Garrett Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 Stek; Cedric Fonte VVD Bertrand; Romeu JWP Davis; Mane Pelle Juanmi
Roger Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 Will you give them the honour of learning to spell their names correctly before they leave the club? You must have a really sad life to pick that out. Seriously.
Graffito Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 You must have a really sad life to pick that out. Seriously. Gave me a laugh actually. Romeo Romeo wherefore art thou Romeo. Resting my @rse on yonder bench. Tis but thy name that is my enemy.
Wiggles31 Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 -----------------Stek Cedric-----Fonte----VvD---Bertand ----------Wanyama-------Clasie Davis--------Mane--------Tadic ------------Pelle Juanmi as an attacking option in the 2nd half if we are chasing things or Romeu if we are defending. Full backs will need to be very tight to Zaha and Bolasie who against Newcastle proved if you don't contain them they will wreck havoc on the flanks. 2-2 entertaining game. (Mane & Cedric)
Saint Rees Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 I'd go 3-5-2 for this like we did boxing day. --------------Stek--------------- ---Fonte-----VVD-----Yoshida--- Cedric---Vic----Romeu---Bertrand -------------Tadic--------------- --------Pelle-----Mane--------- Mane, Pelle and Tadic will all benefit from playing close to each other and centrally IMO, width coming from the full backs. Victor and Romeu to keep it tight
mrfahaji Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 I'd go 3-5-2 for this like we did boxing day. Victor and Romeu to keep it tight This could work as it will pen their wingers back, where they are less effective and even a weakness, but if they do break we still have cover at CB. I think Watford did this well earlier in the season. The question mark is Tadic - he has the attributes to appear a great number 10 but he is more comfortable and does his best work wide. I'd play Davis, but probably instead of Wanyama.
VectisSaint Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 I'd go 3-5-2 for this like we did boxing day. Victor and Romeu to keep it tight You'd leave out Davis. Madness.
Red Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 It's an away game - Cedric won't be playing. Start getting worried about Bolasie on Yoshida. Bolasie's main threat is pace, and Cedric is quicker than Yoshi, so I would stick with Cedric but limit his forward forays, and have Long on the right and Mane on left or center - Long provides more defensive cover I think.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 I'd go 3-5-2 for this like we did boxing day. Victor and Romeu to keep it tight I like 3 at the back particularly with VvD able to bring the ball out and the full backs we have . Just not sure it's the right thing against Palace especially if Tadic plays . I haven't a clue how palace play , but with only 4 in midfield surely they'll be able to overload on Vic & RO and pull Cedric & Ryan in a touch . If their wingers get a run at Yoshida & Fonte as our wide centre halves , god help us . If Davis or even Classie play in a central 3 then it maybe better . Personally I'd go for a 4-5-1 doubling up on their wingers , but leaving a 3 in centre midfield . The only problem is you'll have to drop Pelle and play someone with a bit more movement as the lone striker . Long , or maybe Mane .
Tom28 Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 Who would you leave out of the starting lineup then ? Honestly, Pelle. Two reasons. Firstly, and primarily, when we are on song, and Pelle is on song, he's one of the top strikers in the league, but when we are not playing well, when have you seen Pelle grab the game by the scruff of the neck and turn the tide? If we are playing poorly, you can bet Pelle is too. He goes missing when things aren't going our way. Secondly, his record shows he's far more effective at home than away from home.
Tom28 Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 For me, it would be; Stek Cedric Fonte VVD Bertrand Romeu Wanyama Davis Mane Tadic Long Mane at 10. Davis wide right offering more defensive cover for Cedric against Bolasie. If only keep Wanyama in because two changes in there would be too radical; he doesn't deserve his spot to be honest.
Dig Dig Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 The last time there was a clamour to replace Pelle with Long, Chelsea happened.
Pilchards Posted 6 December, 2015 Posted 6 December, 2015 Saints should play the players that are in form. Thats Koeman ****ed as we don't have any!!!
Saint Charlie Posted 7 December, 2015 Posted 7 December, 2015 The last time there was a clamour to replace Pelle with Long, Chelsea happened. Long is crap in all honesty, aside from running around aimlessly when it suits (he was utterly woeful at tracking Stoke's full backs for example). Truely dreadful first touch.
niceandfriendly Posted 7 December, 2015 Posted 7 December, 2015 (edited) A point will be a much needed boost towards the magic 40 points. But we can only dream. If we can keep hold of Fonte, Yoshida, Long and S.Davis next season we should be able to mount a semi-serious push the playoffs. Edited 7 December, 2015 by niceandfriendly
Dark Munster Posted 7 December, 2015 Posted 7 December, 2015 Wow, I didn't realise the PL will have playoffs next season. Something to look forward to. Is that for an extra Europa spot?
Delboy Dave Posted 7 December, 2015 Posted 7 December, 2015 Long for pelle. Pelle too static, moans too much, doesn't get stuck in, at least long puts in effort and has bite
The9 Posted 7 December, 2015 Posted 7 December, 2015 this will be a straight forward win for palace, we are now a very ordinary side Strangely though, Palace are also a very ordinary side (albeit with two tricky wingers who don't always play out wide). I think it'll be 1-1 tbh.
Mattio Posted 7 December, 2015 Posted 7 December, 2015 Palace have only drawn once this season so I reckon they'll go all out and either smash us or let in a few, either way there will be goals.
doddisalegend Posted 7 December, 2015 Posted 7 December, 2015 Palace have only drawn once this season so I reckon they'll go all out and either smash us or let in a few, either way there will be goals. Aren't they another team that does better on the road than at home?
Mattio Posted 7 December, 2015 Posted 7 December, 2015 Aren't they another team that does better on the road than at home? Yep, both this season and last.
