Verbal Kint Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 Just watching a half time compilation of miss after miss after miss then Villa Goal Looks even worse when all put together Exactly. Very good chances and failed to even work the keeper. Pathetic finishing
captainchris Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 LiHT said it a few weeks now we have to do something different in attack we have been shyte up front for a while yet we keep on with the same things Pelle does not defend from the front, is not quick. moves little and when he does it is slow Mane needs to be central with him or Long has to come on for him. There is not enough tenacity, fitness and closing down. Not enough competition for places or there might be but RK doesn't choose to use other players than his favourites... The players should be in training tomorrow, run to Portsmouth and walk back ....
Window Cleaner Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 Li The players should be in training tomorrow, run to Portsmouth and walk back .... If we lose at home to Villa they might as well stay there.
pangy Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 I know its been said a million times before, but JWP,what is the point of him. 2nd half will see Tadic disappear,Pelle moaning and Mane doing too much and try and take on the whole defence.
CB Fry Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 I'll say it then. Ramirez could have opened them up. No he wouldn't. He's sh it and will more than likely never ever play for us again.
verlaine1979 Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 We've had chances, but most of them feel gifted rather than created. Finishing is characteristically awful, but more depressing is the fact that we're just so f-ing dull to watch. Watched the Stoke/City game earlier, and saw Stoke play attacking football more intricate and inventive than anything we've managed all season.
brianu Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 Need forster back, looking to having forwards with pace and technical skill next season
Batman Posted 5 December, 2015 Author Posted 5 December, 2015 Li There is not enough tenacity, fitness and closing down. Not enough competition for places or there might be but RK doesn't choose to use other players than his favourites... The players should be in training tomorrow, run to Portsmouth and walk back .... closing down has gone from the side 90% of the time. we sit back and get into a shape rather than close down. we go for the CBs when they have the ball and that is about it
Sheaf Saint Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 JWP off for Long or Juanmi for me Get mane central and actually run at them we do that alarmingly so little Please not Long. He's only even slightly effective when you give him balls over the top to run on to. When he plays against a team that defends deep, which Villa are sure to do now they have a lead to protect, he's just an empty shirt that offers nothing.
saintsmike25 Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 It happens that we hit a mid-season blip and lack confidence, worryingly it's the lack of killer edge that has disappointed me. Mane/Pelle both not on form. Tadic/Bertrand have been bright sparks, JWP has had good corners but he's far too defensive. He should be higher up the pitch with Davis, especially as we have Wanyama on. Cedric has played well and got down the line. It's simply we've played well without scoring and lost concentration.. I'd change a couple of things, I'd swap Pelle for Mane upfront and stick Long//Juanmi on, I don't think we're getting any joy from crosses and we need a quick striker like Mane to get in behind. Right now we can't get him in the game. I'd also consider swapping JWP for Clasie and have him playing a more attacking direct game..
St Marco Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 What worries me isn't the performance or the fact JWP keeps getting into the starting line up meaning we are basically playing with 10 men. It's Koeman just looks so disinterested now, no shouting or firing players up on the sidelines. Its a far cry from how he was 4-5 games ago. As someone else said on a different thread it looks like something has gone on behind the scenes.
Dalek2003 Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 Losing against a very poor Villa could see us plunging down the league and eventually be relegated.
Wade Garrett Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 Something just doesn't feel/look right. Players seem to be having a pop at each other a bit quickly after missed placed passes, the most lethargic defending of a corner I have ever seen. Koeman and staff barely energetic/fired up. No speed in our defending, 50/50's or even tempo in possession. As for the game plan, Lescott and Okore are happy to play against the cross-long ball, we need to be playing in between the lines and having a 10 in the game. (Would love to see Gaston there!) What do you reckon Monk? Some sort of disagreement between the board and Ron, Ron and the players or both?
Verbal Kint Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 Really think people are reacting to the scoreline rather than the performance. We've created loads of very good chances and dominated the game, we just haven't put them away. And that is compounded when we defend a corner as badly as that one
badgerx16 Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 Losing against a very poor Villa could see us plunging down the league and eventually be relegated. You really would love that, wouldn't you.
Saint_Tony Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 Just going through a bad spell at the moment. It's difficult to be bothered about today's result, wednesday was the important game. First real test for RoKo now to get us fired up again for Christmas and the FA Cup. Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk
JoeShmoe Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 We have become very very slow right across the pitch - so slow with the ball, no-one wants to pass forward , Wanyama and JWP have been awful Pelle is an interesting one, the long ball game with him in there reminds me a bit of SRL in his last season where his mobility cost us. I'd have Mane right up against their CBs second half as they are going to park the bus and then some Team looks like it needs new faces in it, starting with a playmaker and a wide man

Batman Posted 5 December, 2015 Author Posted 5 December, 2015 pelle shouldnt be trying a volley like that, there
JoeShmoe Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 Oh for a fit Forster and Rodriguez. Definitely need to change things up, not sure why we think the same old thing will turn it round. Not using youth players is killing our identity a little bit. Rather Hesketh and Seager on the bench than some of the players we choose. Creativity of Juanmi and Ramirez would be good, Romeu getting more game time too. All a bit of a mess really. Or Harry Reed
alpine_saint Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 Something is very, very wrong at SFC. We have totally lost our mojo.
nta786 Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 We have these every season here at Saints. Just a loss of form before Christmas. In 2013-14: after the November international break we managed to get 2 points out of 18. In 2014-15: after November international break we managed 1 point out of 15. 2015-16: I'm expecting something similar. We'll pick up, we won't get relegated, we will finish mid-table- because that's what we are.

adrian lord Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 The frightening thing is that villa look capable of getting another
Batman Posted 5 December, 2015 Author Posted 5 December, 2015 Wanyama looking very disinterested. no he doesnt. he is playing like he has since he has been here.
Saint Trev Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 Our ability to pin point their keeper is outstanding
Batman Posted 5 December, 2015 Author Posted 5 December, 2015 Ron needs to change it still look like never scoring if anything, villa look far more threatening
Mr X Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 Not fûcking good enough What he said! There is no excuses for this
Batman Posted 5 December, 2015 Author Posted 5 December, 2015 why is pelle trying more volleys like that again
Plastic Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 Nobody is moving! Jwp runs with the ball and the rest of the midfield are just slowly walking forward! 1-0 down and soon to be 4 losses on the trot, you'd expect a bit more effort ffs

adrian lord Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 Didn't we have the 2nd best defence in Europe only a year ago?
Sheaf Saint Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 No surprise to see Wanyama subbed. He's been dreadful again today. Time for Juanmi to deliver the goods now if we're taking off our most creative player for him.
alpine_saint Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 Our three senior teams U18, U21 and PL are suddenly utter dogsh*te. WHY ?
Batman Posted 5 December, 2015 Author Posted 5 December, 2015 another chance off target, brilliant cross from cedric, juanmi heads wide
adrian lord Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 Our three senior teams U18, U21 and PL are suddenly utter dogsh*te. WHY ? We stopped using ultra- fitness and pressing to make up for our technical shortcomings and lack of depth. Now we are just like all the other mediocre clubs
Batman Posted 5 December, 2015 Author Posted 5 December, 2015 great ball by davis good shot by juanmi, good save
Plastic Posted 5 December, 2015 Posted 5 December, 2015 Now we are just like all the other mediocre clubs a couple of years ago, being a saints fan felt special, great academy and exciting first team. Feels like we've turned into WBA. I know it sounds like bed wetting. Sorry. Great try by Juanmi.
