Lack of movement

Mutual admiration society for the Davis haters. The first goal Saturday was entirely Davis' fault. The rest of what Derry posted is just ********. You saw how we completely disintegrated once he was subbed and we turned into a total shambles for the last 20.

To be perfectly honest I saw no qualitative difference between before and after he went off. First twenty aside we were a shambles the whole match, and created our best chance right at the death with Davis long gone.

As far as I am concerned he is a big part of our midfield problem. I was delighted when he was taken off and it certainly didn't get worse. Wanyama's atrocious positional play and passing didn't help neither did JWP's powderpuff presence. It's time Koeman got ruthless, small wonder nobody ever tries to buy Davis and JWP.

Well if you didn't see that it got worse after he went offthen clearly you were not paying any attention. We became a total shambles and lacked any drive, pace or momentum. Happens every time. Totally agree he had a poor game Saturday, but whether you like it or not he is key to our game. Until we find a replacement Ronald will continue to pick him as one of the first names on the team sheet.a

If he does he'll be out of a job sooner than later. We don't need bottlers in midfield. He doesn't give 100% and has been allowed to indulge himself for too long carried by the players that do give 100%.

So what do you propse instead! James Ward and Prowse. Your so cslled observations of Davis are so far wide of the mark as to be laughable.

Please, anyone still defending Davis....look at the position he is supposed to play in the team, look at his stats over his career, look how football has changed over the course of his career.

Having a midfield of Wanyama, Davis and Clasie (AT HOME) will not break down teams coming to SMS happy with a point. Most teams that play 4 at the back, usually have one (sometimes 2) defensively minded midfielders sat in front of them. One would be the proverbial outhouse, the other would be the "keep it ticking along / pass..pass..pass" type.

Or at least thats how I see it !!

That being the case, I would prefer our team to be something along the lines of

------------GK-----------

RB----DEF----DEF----LB

-----VIC------Clasie / JWP / Davis (Oriol if we need to lock down more)

Tadic----SOMEONE THAT CAN UNLOCK TEAMS / PRODUCE A BIT OF SKILL / CHIP IN WITH GOALS + ASSISTS-----Mane

------Pelle------

Davis would be my 3rd choice in the "sat in front of the back 4" position, just a squad player in my eyes. He doesn't score enough goals, or assist with goals for his position in the team.....and if you think that scoring / assisting is not his job, then he is playing too far forward for what you think his role in the team is.

5 league goals in 4 years at Villa

0 in 22 appearances for Fulham

18 in 151 appearance for Rangers (thats right, Rangers...I reckon most of us could have got on the scoresheet for Rangers before their financial rot set in)

Yet, we seem to play him in and around the number 10 role.....odd.

JWP or Davis wouldn't even get on the bench for me. Davis, fourth forward from midfield 8 goals in four seasons 137 appearances, JWP in four years 1 penalty. We don't need that and it is time to get in players that can score goals and win the ball. Small wonder we can't score with either, sometimes both of those two in midfield. I can't see anybody in the Premier wanting either of them.

Out of interest, where would Davis/#10 come in your list of priorities for where the first 11 needs strengthening/replacements? As far as I can see, the only possible argument you could make is that we need a first choice right back more, and even that would probably be a hasty claim considering Cedric has only had half a season to bed in. Otherwise this is the main position where we've been lacking genuine first 11 quality for at least two seasons now, which makes the general Davis love-in on here a bit odd.
