SO16_Saint Posted 2 December, 2015 Share Posted 2 December, 2015 Well we played pretty much our strongest team vs Liverpool, and that went well. Take out Caulker and Clasie but keep the rest to redeem themselves. Can see us winning - but on my because Villa are truly awful
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 3 December, 2015 Share Posted 3 December, 2015 Villa are awful but so are we at the moment. No one can be confident of a win given how we are defending currently. Losing to villa is not an option otherwise confidence will be rock bottom and we will only go one way. Time for players to pull their fingers out and koeman to get real with tactics. Last 3 games have shown koeman isn't a tactical mastermind, some really poor decisions from him. Sent from my SM-A300FU using Tapatalk
Roger Posted 3 December, 2015 Share Posted 3 December, 2015 Hopefully fonte, if not then Yoshida. Romeu for Clasie, jwp for Davis. Wouldn't mind juanmi getting a chance but he won't. Keep long away from the tram. Romeo gets booked every two minutes and jwp is just awful.

Matthew Le God Posted 3 December, 2015 Share Posted 3 December, 2015 Same as last night except fonte /maya for caulker Last night in the second half Koeman was playing a 3-4-3 formation; which involved Bertrand as a central midfielder and Wanyama as a centre back... Stekelenburg Caulker Wanyama van Dijk Davis Ward-Prowse Bertrand Tadic Long Pelle Mane I'd rather he didn't do that again.

davayy Posted 3 December, 2015 Share Posted 3 December, 2015 Judging by Koeman's and Davis' comments post Liverpool, I suspect we will see a very defensively strong side. Would bloody hope so as well. I can see us not playing Clasie given his lack of anything mid week. Hopefully we'll just completely boss the game (which on paper, we really should) and come out with a clean 3-0 win. Alternatively, we will concede early and heads drop. Let's hope for the former. Defensively strong side ? By doing what, we don't really have any more quality defenders than we played last night, well Fonte I suppose instead of Caulker but after that we can just add to the numbers on defence but not really to the quality. If we were going to go archidefensive I thought it would have been last night given the prize at stake.

Back to basics, simple football and just stick to what we know under Koeman.

If we were going to go archidefensive I thought it would have been last night given the prize at stake. I took Koeman's comments to mean that we will go more defensively in midfield, i.e. two defensive mids in front of the back 4, that probably means Romeu or possibly JWP alongside Vic, with Davis more advanced. Recently we have been using Vic, with Clasie and Davis more advanced. I don't think there is much more than that that we can do, assuming of course Fonte is back, and I wouldn't be 100% certain of that.

Genk Posted 4 December, 2015 Share Posted 4 December, 2015 I think we'll win this one with Fonte back in the side. Need an early goal to keep the crowd off the players backs, and if that comes I think it will be a comfortable afternoon. Going for a 3-1 prediction here, hopefully having been given a kick up the backside by Ronald post Liverpool game.

ART Posted 4 December, 2015 Share Posted 4 December, 2015 The saddest thing about tomorrow is that Koeman will pick an almost identical team instead of sending out warning to those who under-performed in the last two games. I wouldn't give a damn if he'd give the likes of Seagar, Reed and Targett a game. Koeman's holding back player development. No one needs reminding had Chambers stayed at the club, he'd be plying in the Under 21's. He's leading the long term health of the club into oblivion by not taking chances by giving young players a game. The one thing he doesn't seem to realise is that they'd bleed Southampton and give every ounce of themselves for the team. We can't keep saying they're not good enough when the dross he's brought in aren't any better.

Graffito Posted 4 December, 2015 Share Posted 4 December, 2015 Koeman's going to revert to a defensive mindset which seems to be his default position. It's how he shored things up and rebuilt team confidence after the flaky start to the season. We could well be in for another Watford but I remain hopeful of a win. An early goal would do it. Saint Garrett Posted 4 December, 2015 Share Posted 4 December, 2015 Stek, Cedric Fonte VVD Bertrand; Wanyama JWP Davis; Tadic Pelle Mane Go and redeem yourselves with the skipper back in the side. Maybe we play a diamond with Mane up top with Pelle with Tadic in behind centrally - width coming from the full backs...? Want to see Juanmi and Gaston on the bench and brought on if we're struggling to break them down. We need to get back on track after conceding 9 in 2 games. JWP been poor in recent games, normally a fan but feel ramirez actually more likely to pull out a decent performance than ward-prowse right now. davis then plays further back. derry Posted 4 December, 2015 Share Posted 4 December, 2015 It's not a game of guess the starting line up is it? Think it's just what people would do themselves or want Precisely. As for Davis he nearly closes down, nearly tackles but mostly doesn't, mostly just unloads the ball even if colleague is already marked, rarely scores and just doesn't do it for me. JWP is even worse. As for Koeman picking them, he also picked the three at the back on Wednesday, how did that go? and some bizarre failed team selections early in the season. On Wednesday Davis and JWP in midfield were non existent.
