Villa Build Up. How important is a win ?

we need to be a threat as an attacking force. We really have not for a few games now.

we need to play for 2 halves. We have not for large parts of the season.

Need to do something different up top. Either drop feking pelle. or get mane centrally where he is far more dangerous. More so against a dreadful villa side.

not winning this one will have a few alarm bells ringing

Could Koeman go 3-5-2 to get Mane closer to Pelle?

Could we do worse than getting Reed in the middle and asking him to kick people?

Or just play the way we often do and beat a poor Villa side without radical changes?

Slightly worrying that I can't really think of anyone on the bench I would bring into the starting XI.

Yep let's drop our topscorer OR give him some service

At Chelsea, we played Mane in behind Pelle, and actually swapped the two over at one point. It worked an absolute treat and they murdered Cahill and Terry. We haven't done it since, bizzarely. We need to find a way of getting them closer together.

3 PL wins from 7 at home so far this season. Koemans pragmatism is worth few points on the road but we're struggling against any team with a bit about themselves at home which isn't good enough. We really do need a win on Saturday, another loss at home against an awful Villa wouldn't bode well for the season ahead.

Not important at all. In fact irrelevant. We're not going up or going to finish in the top 6. Better hope we get a couple of decent draws in the FA Cup or yet another season has been p*ssed up the wall without us doing anything.

Hope you enjoy the sport, at least!

This feels an awful lot like the build-up to the Norwich game earlier in the season.

This. I am so very bored of waiting for us to win some silverware. Tbh I don't think I'll bother getting my hopes up in the future. I'll watch the final if we get to one but otherwise I won't bother.

I honestly believe others will score if he was not in the side

he never beats a man

rarely wins a header

hardly moves across the defence

moans at everyone

pretty gash attitude

the balls into him have to be almost perfect other wise he will stand there (and then people come on here and moan about service to him)

zero pace with him

rarely defends from the front

either way, we have been very poor as an attacking force for a few weeks now.

Either drop pelle...OR get mane central.

Yep, we can go and beat them 6-1 like last season, and it will count for very little. The only positive is we can still sort ourselves out before the first FA cup game. Is the draw in the next few days?

The manager, players and coaching staff need to have a good long hard look at themselves over the next 48 hours or so, you owe the fans a performance after last night nothing less than a win by a two or three goal margin will be exceptable against a very poor Villa side.

Going into this with no form against a club who are desperate for a win (more than us, we just look lazy and confused). Villa will go at our back line from the off and if they have done their home work they will work the ball through the middle of our pack and target Fonte, Yoshida or Caulker. VVD will try but he can't do it all by himself and him being sucked out by a runner will expose us. 2-1 Villa IMHO. Not knee jerk, based on the last handful of games.

The last handful of our games or Villa's games? They really are diabolical. Plus I'm sure we'll be desperate for a win too after last night.

Any win would be acceptable to most I think. A win is a win.
