Please name the player we should have signed to replace Morgan

I'm ****ed if I know.

He is such a good player, the best Midfield player since Steve Williams . With Williams we got Lucky with Jimmy Case, but I Honestly cannot think of any player out there who is in his class, and who is not already playing in the Champions league.

Any ideas guys ( Wenger maybe looking at this thread too) .

I thought Romeu was coming along nicely, put in some very good displays......my issue is we do not have a recognized CAM,that will create and chip in with goals Davis/Clasie/JWP are not really up for it

VVD taking free kicks as well tonight....what is the point of JWP

I wouldn't mind if you went out to get Riechedly Bazoer. You wouldn't mind as well.

That kid is nowhere near ready for that, i see only one player in the Eredivisie atm thats ready for a step like that and thats Ziyech. All the other talents first have to become big boys, carry their team and make the difference. Plenty of guys have the talent to make it in the Premier League but they are not ready atm.

All tho maybe if i had some cash i would pick up Pereiro from PSV as quick as possible, you couldnt go wrong with that investment really.

Krychowiak

That's the profile of the player we needed, in a physical sense. We lack presence in the middle of the park, it's easy to forget how many headers Morgan won in midfield as well - he was quite a unit and had a presence about him.

Clasie, i don't know what he is. Too early to come to any sort of conclusion, but he needs to take some growth pills or something as he looks totally unsuitable for this country at this moment in time.

Krychowiak

That was possibly our big hope, but sad fact is we're not really an attraction to players at the £20m mark who really only see themselves in the Champions League. The clever thing to have done is sign him a year earlier when he left his previous club for £4m.

Imbula was perhaps another possibility, but I got the impression that if we were interested at all,we were too late entering the race for him. As he's failed to settle at Porto you have to wonder if he'd have been the answer though.

Is that the one that various non-CL teams were chasing all summer even though he was never going to leave Spain for any of them? Was it Stoke who were led on the most?

That was Konoplyanka.

But equally Krychowiak had just won the Europa League and was a regular, interesting CL sides and with CL footy himself.

Was an unrealistic signing to expect us to make IMO.

Should have put our foot down and not sold him.

Why do we have to always give in to players when they still have plenty of time on their contracts?

Bet Lukaku, Stones and Barkley are still Everton players next season.

If only it was that easy. As a club we're not in a position to do that and probably never will be.

Nothing wrong with Clasie.

He just looks completely physically unsuited to the PL.

The player in that position should have the most touches or passes, he is just bypassed and doesn't look agile enough.

Probably a good player, but is he suited to our team or league? I am not sure.

He is the guy we picked to replace the heartbeat of our side and he can't yet play 90mins, nor play more than once a week. I know he was injured, but expected him to be influencing things more in the games he has played. In fact its hard to really say he is any better than JWP?

It's been an entirely disjointed team and season from the start. To use a phrase much loved by Rodgers, we're in a season of transition right now. Important thing is to keep hold of Mane for next season - Wanyama can go, he's replaceable and tbh been more of a liability this season.

Mane will fairly likely go though, most are aware of that.

Clasie issue isnt about transition, he just doesnt cover the attributes we lost from the team. He seems unsuited to the PL. Not agile enough, easy to run beyond etc.

I honestly do. I've seen him play some fantastic passes, tackle viciously and cover a lot of ground...the whole team is low on confidence right now, ridiculous to write him off when everyone is struggling.

I hope in 12 months time you can bump this post and be smug about it but I sadly can't see it.

Bit harsh to judge him, he didn't even play tonight.......

It's been said before but why did we let Cork leave last January knowing Morgan was going to leave in the Summer. He may not have been quite as good as Morgan but he was a lot better than Wanyama.

It should never have got to the stage where he didn't sign a late contract offe, felt unwanted and left for just a couple of million.

Personally I think Romeu looked really good earlier this season - I think we just need to stick with him over a Wanyama now.

Big Vics head seems to have gone.

The same Cork who can't even get in a struggling Swansea team at the moment...

We played with 9 men tonight and we all know the two that were beyond belief terrible. For once just about everyone agrees too it was so obvious...

Classie - complete waste of money.

Caulker - what on earth are our so called amazing scouting department doing? Both these players will never make it ...

We would have to have signed him from Tottenham Hotspur. HTH.

We knew Scheniderlin was off in the summer of 2014 so plans should have been in place way before he left. Signing someone with outstanding potential like Alli in the January transfer window is the sort of move you should be making, He was on our list and Paul Mitchell and Pochettino stole a march on us by going for him in January. We were too slow to react but hindsight is a wonderful thing I guess!

Has there been a time in our recent transfer history when we've been fast to react, or at least faster than our competitors? The screw up with TA was both frustrating and naive, and the number of fans pointing out that signing an experienced back up keeper and a striker (loans would have done) could have turned a good season into a monumental one! Saints seem to have good structure, but you have to consider luck alongside the soundbites and plaudits.

Claisse will be that player. The guy has played a handful of games .... not like this forum to right a player without letting him settle in:mcinnes:

The trouble is we don't need him to be that player in a years time, we needed someone to come in and hit the ground running, Morgan was our main man and we haven't replaced him. We should be subsidising potential with ready made players, Juanmi, Clasie etc may be ok in a year but what about now

Cabaye and Imbula should have been definite targets IMO. But for me it's all about the pairing - Vic and Morgan were great together. Cork and Romeu or Clasie might have been good together. Every time we shipped out another little part of the side that gained back to back promotions, another chunk of team spirit got shipped out too. We are now left with a bunch of disaffected and disconnected journeymen and the academy lads who show some spirit can hardly get on the bench let alone near the 1st team. It's happened to other teams of course - Swansea etc. - but now we'll be joining the mid-lower table teams that never get a look-in at the top table of the Prem...we've missed the chance now. It will happen to Leicester too I expect once Vardy et al get their big money offers.

The Cork better than Vic debate .Thought we got past that.Vic is in a completely different league to Cork.Cork was a good squad player nothing more. Vic is class , and like Spider we'll miss him when he's gone.

Not on his current form we won't has been poor for a while. Completely different to Morgan who played last season like he had a point to prove, once his move to spurs was blocked, meanwhile Vic seems to be passing time until his contract runs down.

We won't miss a midfielder that can't pass forwards and whose second touch is a tackle
