NickG Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 for what its worth Jan said on radio no other players will be leaving this window and he hopes to strengthen particularly at CB
rocknrollman no2 Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Shouldnt he be getting a striker or two as well?
70's Mike Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Shouldnt he be getting a striker or two as well? probably but another 20 nil nil's would get us 20 points at least. please rupert get someone over 25 who is over 6foot and LIKES TO head the ball along way, please do not get a player who can pass it along the back four
beatlesaint Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 This will be the same Jan who is told whats going on by Lowe when Lowe thinks he needs to know. This is the same Jan who was sure Jack Cork would stay here. This is the same Jan who would use Dyer when he returned. Sorry, but if nobody has left come 2 Feb then i will believe him. He is only the monkey, its what tune the organ grinder plays that is of concern to me.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 for what its worth Jan said on radio no other players will be leaving this window and he hopes to strengthen particularly at CB Nick - can I respectfully suggest you (we) revisit this post at the end of January. Cheers.
StuRomseySaint Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 I can't make a thread, if I could, it would be to say R.I.P to the Saints fan who died on Britannia ROad before the game. What happened? Anyone know? Anyway, R.I.P fella.
Greenridge Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 for what its worth Jan said on radio no other players will be leaving this window and he hopes to strengthen particularly at CB I doubt JP will have an awful lot of influence or input into these scenarios.
Dalek2003 Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 I'm afraid that Jan may be talking out of turn.
Badger Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 I'm afraid that Jan may be talking out of turn. or throwing down a gauntlet to Rupert.
Dalek2003 Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 or throwing down a gauntlet to Rupert. Yep, it could be the last throw of the dice.
Mole Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 for what its worth Jan said on radio no other players will be leaving this window and he hopes to strengthen particularly at CB Jan is either a liar or he's being lied to.
SaintRobbie Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Nick - can I respectfully suggest you (we) revisit this post at the end of January. Cheers. I agree! Well said Duncan. Let's bring this thread back at the end of January and see what happened.
NickG Posted 4 January, 2009 Author Posted 4 January, 2009 Nick - can I respectfully suggest you (we) revisit this post at the end of January. Cheers. it was posted with a "for what its worth" and no further comment from me!
chi saint Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 I think it's about time Kelvin did what was best for him and get out whilst he can. Today was a shop window and if others hadn't realised already he is and has been for some time a class act. So for the sake of his career, family and pension Kelvin if you are reading this, you did your best but sometimes a man has to do what a man has to do ...leave us to sink.
mprobert Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 I dont think we should take Jan's word for it when we have posters who are ITK
St Marco Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Well if it turns out to be true and we dont lose any of the players i will be happy and will give a bit of respect to Lowe and Jan. However if it doesnt quite happen like that then Jan will look a even bigger muppet then he already does. Either that or he doesnt speak to Lowe very much so has no idea what the dark lord has in store for his young padawan.
teamsaint Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 So if a PL club offer £4m for Surman or Lallana or Spiderman we will turn them down. F'sure!!
DT Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 I thought Surman played like he was off. Even more like he was wearing slippers than usual, more so tonight in trying to avoid getting stuck in and imperilling his move?
Leslie Charteris Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 I thought Surman played like he was off. Even more like he was wearing slippers than usual, more so tonight in trying to avoid getting stuck in and imperilling his move? But now he is cup-tied which must reduce his value and/or Premiership interest in him.
krissyboy31 Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 But now he is cup-tied which must reduce his value and/or Premiership interest in him. Not for Stoke or Man City.
B Rabbit Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 I can't make a thread, if I could, it would be to say R.I.P to the Saints fan who died on Britannia ROad before the game. What happened? Anyone know? Anyway, R.I.P fella. Don't know what happened mate...but we wandered by about 15 mins before kick off and he was out cold on the floor having CPR done. There's a cctv camara pointing right at the area across the road so i'm sure we'll find out soon enough.
Leslie Charteris Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Not for Stoke or Man City. Got to be Stoke then - it is a Saints old boys club after all!
yellow&blue Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 for what its worth Jan said on radio no other players will be leaving this window and he hopes to strengthen particularly at CB It's not like it's Jan that wears the trousers in this failing relationship is it? So what he says goes then............
um pahars Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 for what its worth Jan said on radio no other players will be leaving this window and he hopes to strengthen particularly at CB Given all the platitudes, excuses and mutterings from jan on that site to date, whatever he now says has little worth in my eyes. I initially felt sorry for him accepting a job that was obviously out of his league, but with every game that passes and with every platitude and promise he spouts, that sympathy is quickly evaporating. He really should do the right thing and stand down.
brightspark Posted 5 January, 2009 Posted 5 January, 2009 for what its worth Jan said on radio no other players will be leaving this window and he hopes to strengthen particularly at CB I'd like to believe this, but no chance. seller TotalJan will still have plenty of visitors to his ebay shop and plenty of players will be off to better run clubs.
offix Posted 5 January, 2009 Posted 5 January, 2009 for what its worth Jan said on radio no other players will be leaving this window and he hopes to strengthen particularly at CB Hard to imagine an even stronger team, isn't it?:rolleyes:
slickmick Posted 5 January, 2009 Posted 5 January, 2009 His interview on Radio Hants was so hard to understand, its no wonder the team don't know what they are doing. The ref was wrong , the ref was right'. Know ones leaving, then hopefully and maybe they wont.' Dave Armstrong couldn't make sense of his ramblings either.
JustMike Posted 5 January, 2009 Posted 5 January, 2009 this probably means that Al and AS and possibly others will go as well then. RL wont tell him until its too late
Pilchards Posted 5 January, 2009 Posted 5 January, 2009 JP Now says in the paper 'Im confident nobody will leave in January' Make your mind up pal.....!!
sadoldgit Posted 5 January, 2009 Posted 5 January, 2009 Jan is either a liar or he's being lied to. There is another option which you don't seem to have considered Stanley, that he is telling the truth?
sadoldgit Posted 5 January, 2009 Posted 5 January, 2009 Given all the platitudes, excuses and mutterings from jan on that site to date, whatever he now says has little worth in my eyes. I initially felt sorry for him accepting a job that was obviously out of his league, but with every game that passes and with every platitude and promise he spouts, that sympathy is quickly evaporating. He really should do the right thing and stand down. Yep, with your nephew waiting in the wings Steve why not? Why exactly should he stand down though? Because you don't rate him? It is his job until either the club or he decides otherwise, not some jumped up cyber jockey. As for platitudes, as I am sure you know football managers are not the most gifted in the speach department and JP has to deliver his in a foreign language. Perhaps you would like to come on here and talk eloquently in Dutch?
ottery st mary Posted 5 January, 2009 Posted 5 January, 2009 Poor old JP, he only assists the coach Lowe and takes all the stick. Lowey will tell him what is left in the pool when he is ready. Give the man a chance.
sadoldgit Posted 5 January, 2009 Posted 5 January, 2009 It is not rocket science is it? At the moment it is enitely possible that no one is leaving. All it needs is someone to pick up a phone and make an offer and it could all change. Isn't that the way it should be? If someone comes in with a deal that makes things better for us in some way or another, why not do the deal just because it has been said earlier that no one is leaving?

ALWAYS_SFC Posted 5 January, 2009 Posted 5 January, 2009 I would love him to come on the radio and say that he is leaving...
sadoldgit Posted 5 January, 2009 Posted 5 January, 2009 Why say anything in the first place? Maybe to squash all of the cyber gossip that several players had already been lined up to leave? If you believed what you read on here both Lallana and Surman were off in January and that is why they were not playing against United (apart from the fact that Surman did play and Lallana is injured).

But then again JP should not comment in the way he has or give your type wording comments or even leave this to the top man who is in charge of football.....Michael Wilde...Oh! forgot....Michael where are you when you are needed for the real press statements. Who is really making these transfer/loan decisions....Rupert stop JP looking silly please.
krissyboy31 Posted 5 January, 2009 Posted 5 January, 2009 Maybe to squash all of the cyber gossip that several players had already been lined up to leave? Do you really think the club cares about or even reads the 'cyber gossip'?
sadoldgit Posted 5 January, 2009 Posted 5 January, 2009 Do you really think the club cares about or even reads the 'cyber gossip'? Apparently mnay people at the club read this site, including Mr Wilde on occasions, so I was say yes is the answer.

I have left meetings and told my staff that A is happening only to find out a few days later that things have changed and B is happening. Jan can either say I don't know what is happening and make himself look like he desn't know what is going on, or he can say what is happening right now in answer to a question and be made to look like he doesn't know what is going on in hindsight if things change. To be fair, doesn't this happen at every club? Phone calls are made all of the time, decisions changed all of the time, spin spun all of the time. It doesn't just happen here.

Yes...I suggest you become his press spokesman..He should not have to take all this..You've got broad shoulders and thick skin..Don't just sit in the Directors box..Earn your champers for once..Help the old boy out.

Which I suppose means that you think that I am Rupert Lowe? Every time Lowe opens his mouth people want him to shut up. Fans like to hear from their managers don;t they. Hardly the managers fault if they can't conjure up a Churchillian speach at the drop of a hat. Please tell me how many managers that you think are worth listening to on a regular basis? While you are at it, what issues do you have with FCs post (do you think that he is Rupert Lowe too?) Oh and here's another thought...if I am Rupert Lowe, are you Lawrie McMenemy? Finally, why is it that anyway who tries to find some balance is seen as being a RL plant? Edited 5 January, 2009 by sadoldgit
Psycrow Posted 5 January, 2009 Posted 5 January, 2009 this probably means that Al and AS and possibly others will go as well then. RL wont tell him until its too late oh yeah, it most likely means that. Our manager making a statement more than likely must mean the exact opposite because you think he's being kept out of a loop. You realise that makes no sense at all right? I mean in no way whatsoever? No one can win. If JP came out and said our players are leaving it means our players must be leaving, but when he comes and says they're not leaving, it means they must be leaving and he just doesn't know about it. He's in the know about the goings on in the club when it suits some people, and not in the know when it doesn't suit them

No,that was a joke about the Directors box. Hopefully you are a fan as well as your day job. Mind the steps and those ruffians around you on match days. You mention FC, why, never commented on him personally. As far as the Lowe group I have slowly worked out , who is who. Mind you like everyone else they are entitled to their opinions. But you do accept, time for Mr Lowe to move and let someone else take the leadership reigns, before it is too late? Too close to the top table by chance? Nothing personal, but times have been bad and a regroup is called for and a last stab at playing footbaal in this league, with a little money on the right big lumps on loans. Will he or The Lavender Hill Mob listen or care.. Do you really care..sadoldgit...really?

Will he or The Lavender Hill Mob listen or care.. Do you really care..sadoldgit...really? Yes I do really care Ottery, and I can see no viable alternatibe to Lowe right at this minute. That is not to say that I don't also pray for some benign mega rich sugar Daddy to come and save us. Take Lowe out of the equasion for a moment. What is required in the current circumstances given that no one has the cash to bail us out? Someone who can take tough unpopular decisions? Someone who can work in a tight financial situation? Wilde, Crouch, Hone, Hoos etc tried and failed and we are in a bigger mess now. If Lowe is not here to make tough cals then someone else would have to wouldn't they? If Lowe has sold a three year plan to the backers and bought the club some time, then fair play to him. If a creditable alternative pitches up and finds some more cash to play with, great. Personally I don't think that alternative is Crouch or Merrington or McMemency etc, so who does that leave?
ottery st mary Posted 5 January, 2009 Posted 5 January, 2009 oh yeah, it most likely means that. There will no doubt be a little bit of wheeling and dealing in the window and after, I have sat down with the Football Chairman, Michael Wilde, we hopefully, will end up with a squad that with my coaching prowess(if Rupert leaves it alone and the silly posters on that forum get off my back) and a LOT of luck, will save my career for another season. PS Can, anyone, lend me £60,000.. so I can pay off Helmond. NUFF, said.
NickG Posted 5 January, 2009 Author Posted 5 January, 2009 Why say anything in the first place? He was asked the question, of course there wouldn't have been a single moan on here if he had; stayed silent said yes said I don't know said lets just see what happens etc
krissyboy31 Posted 5 January, 2009 Posted 5 January, 2009 He was asked the question, of course there wouldn't have been a single moan on here if he had; stayed silent said yes said I don't know said lets just see what happens etc He could have said that he does not comment on speculation, like every other manager we have had, has. He could have qualfied that with the fact that we have had no bids or enquiries about any of our players. To say nobody will be leaving is just asking for trouble IMO.
Window Cleaner Posted 5 January, 2009 Posted 5 January, 2009 On his OS piece he says he doesn't think anybody else will be leaving It's not quite the same thing is it.
