F**ked without Mane

I'd be very, very surprised if we sold Mane in January.

Having said that, I'm completely resigned to losing him in the summer. Having said that, I'm very optimistic about getting north of £30Mn for him minimum. I'd settle for £35-40Mn and do genuinely believe that Chelsea, City and United would all be willing to pay it.

That's not a bad thing if we can replace him with a player half as good for a quarter of the price etc. rinse and repeat and eventually stumble on another wonderkid like himself in the process of doing that year after year whilst staying roughly around the top half and making a good go of it in the cups/expanding our profile in the footballing world and so on and so forth.

However, regarding the topic discussed on the thread, I must admit that if Mane were to hypothetically disappear into non-existence in a puff of smoke tomorrow; I'd genuinely view this season primarily as a relegation battle to scrape the necessary 40 points. The truth is that we are hugely reliant on him for his pace and ability to beat players. No-one else can do it. Yes, Tadic can turn and twist, but faced up against a full-back one-on-one, he doesn't have the pace to get past him.

We really need another player who can beat a man one-on-one and take some of the burden off Mane, which is frustrating, because those kinds of players in and of themselves (Bolasie/Zaha/Arnautovic/Dyer for example) aren't that hard to come by.*

*I realise those four all have massive issues with their end product but that's kind of my point; simply having a bag of pace who can actually carry a vague sort of threat going forward would add a lot to our squad given our massive lack of pace.

Alpine is right in that we are lost without Mane...makes one wonder what Koeman was thinking about on Saturday. Being tired is irrelevant as its better to start him for an hour then Long for 30 mins.. Unless he's carrying an injury.

I'm sure Ronald said he had an ankle injury

Didn't have a chance to (or be arsed to) read the small print, seeing as neither Senegal or Kenya qualified ;) Strange riles though, as didn't Sadio and Vic play in the qualifiers?

Also back to the OP .... WTF is Alps going on about?

This is how it works :

1. Alps starts a thread with a provocative statement based on nothing factual and always negative !

2. Forum members respond (predictably!) with personal attacks !

3. Alps takes umbrage and calls for people to be banned !

4. We win the next few matches and we don't see him for a while !

Quite simple really.

(ps. Eric, my tongue is as much in cheek as yours was :))

Nothing factual ? You deny we are toothless without Mane ?

Who have I called for to be banned ? Not only have I not done this relating to this thread, I have never done it, just like I have never rejoiced when someone has been banned.

And I dispute I dont come on here when we are winning. Methinks you pathetic little scrotes go after me and my posts to vent your frustration when we do lose, and ignore them the rest of the time (as is your right)

To be honest Alps post is more interesting and applicable than a lot of guff on here atm. I mean , Brendan Rogers has left Liverpool wtf!.

If Mane does go in Jan which is being muted in the tabloids it could be a damaging blow to Saints. Although we are reasonably placed I dont think we have well and truly fired this season. We have been tough to break down away but we are average at best at home. The loss of someone like Mane would no doubt worsen our performances.

So a valid point by Alps!

Let's hope it works as you say it does. If so Alps is welcome back anytime we lose.

Strange thing is that no-one seems to have mentioned is that Sadio has been rather toothless himself of late.

Alpine is neither interesting, applicable nor valid. He is intact a complete fruitcake. A sociopath who genuinely believes he is the sensible, rational one and that the rest of us are out to get him.

All he has done is state that we are a weaker team without possibly our best player. Who'd have though. I'll bet Leicester are just as good without Vardy, Man City without Aguero, Arsenal without Sanchez etc. All he has done is state the flippin' obvious in a way designed to attract the most negative attention to himself because he wants to feel like the victim.

I despair at humanity that his nonsense still makes 2 pages, the irony of me posting this accepted.

Your opening line in this thread is : "Gonna be in big trouble in January", stated as a 'fact'.

The fact that there is no done deal means that you are speculating !

For the rest of my post I'll accept that I am a pathetic little scrote :)

Well, we will see I guess.

I take from the high level of abuse I have touched a raw nerve and you all know it too.

Attempt to answer my three questions that you have so far ignored...

1) Why would the club sell him in January? The summer perhaps, but they have little reason to do so in January.

2) Why when he is sold do you not have confidence they can replace him? They have shown time after time the recruitment set-up at the club has a process that works more often than it doesn't.

3) Define "f**ked"? Relegation? Because take Mane out of our squad and they don't replace him... we'd still have a very good Premier League squad. In any case if he is sold, they'll spend good money to replace him as they have shown in the last two seasons.

Been that way since August. I'm no longer paying the tax that doesn't exist on other club forums.

Although with some you need to be accepted onto the main forum by nature of "likes" on the quality of your posting on a

neophytes forum. Bloody hard to accede to the real deal according to a MU supporting colleague of mine. However the quality of the main forum isn't all that at all.

Hows the stadium expansion coming along MLG? Any signs of it starting yet? DO you still think it's a brilliant strategy not to reveal our injuries ahead of games? You must be aghast that Koeman now openly states how long players will be out for.

I just can't see the club making a big show of keeping Mane in August just to flog him Jan. The only way I can see the club selling Mane in Jan is if there is an offer beyond silly (at least 50 million or more). Next summer he will be gone but that's just the way of things for saints these days.

How many players have the club sold in Jan since the takeover? I can only think of Jack Cork which giving his contract situation was understandable. I could see Gaston going in Jan but not Mane.

A) probably won't leave

B) we'd replace him

C) you probably said he was rubbish a year ago

D) tadic being able to shoot would make a bigger difference

E)he will leave at some point so prepare another 5 amazing threads

a) if Manyoo meet our valuation, he will

b) sure, but with whom ? Will he be as good ? Claise isnt Morgan, and Cedric isnt Clyne

c) Bullsh*t. Prove it. Lazy stereotyping

d) I'll take your word for that. Point is, according to you, he can't. Your point was ?

e) No sh*t batman, but see point b) above.
