Gonna be in big trouble in January.

If it happens we'll get some serious swans, I'm sure we can find a suitable replacement if, and herein lies the rub, we pay enough to obtain someone of a similar standard and not go scraping around dutch bargain basements.

Would be utterly daft if the club sold him in January. Just can't see it happening.

If that was what alpine was on about

Well the popular press and no doubt skysports seem to be trying to presuade everyone that it's a likely possibility.

I expect Alps has been reading the football gossip columns, same as everyone else. The difference is in how you interpret the

contents.

[h=2]F**ked without Mane[/h]Gonna be in big trouble in January.

As ever, utterly bizarre! But its what we've come to expect from an alpine_saint post or thread.

1) Why would the club sell him in January? The summer perhaps, but they have little reason to do so in January.

2) Why when he is sold do you not have confidence they can replace him? They have shown time after time the recruitment set-up at the club has a process that works more often than it doesn't.

3) Define "f**ked"? Because take Mane out of our squad and they don't replace him... we'd still have a very good Premier League squad. In any case if he is sold, they'll spend good money to replace him as they have shown in the last two seasons.

Saints lose at the weekend --> Alpine starts a thread. It's the circle of SWF.

Nothing to see here.

Yep, had Saints been given a penalty for the clear foul on Pelle and Saints got a draw then I doubt alpine_saint would have posted this thread. Its remarkable how easy every single one of his negative rants is to pick apart for the nonsense it is.

I'm actually intrigued as to alpine_saint's rational for posting this thread. Not only because its extremely vague as to what exactly he is saying, but also what kind of response did he expect he'd get and why?

He knew exactly what sort of response he'd get, which is why he posted it in the first place.

Is'nt that the definition of a troll Steve, and how do you feel about such posts on here?

I'm guessing because he knew you'd bite and use all three of your daily posts on replying.........

MLG reduced to "guest" status, hadn't noticed that. Business must be slow in the pedantry sector just now.

Interesting question...

I haven't been on here too much lately, but I got the impression that alpine hadn't either. Before I checked on here today I had a bet with myself, and won. ;-)

Alps could have meant he is off to the African Nations cup........along with Big Vic. Thats a month without the 2 of them.

Is there an ACoN this year ? Not as far as I know anyway. 2017 should be the next one.

I would imagine the rational was that, without the pace and inventiveness of Mane, we look a side who has great difficulty creating opportunities and scoring goals and that Mane is a player who could well be attracting interest from Man U in the January window.

Rwanda next year, 16th January to 7th February plus warm-up. Why they can't hold it every 4 years I shall never know.

Doesn't sound at all right, they had one last year, 2017 should be the next one in err Gabon, this must be some other tournament because they are in WC qualifiers just now.

NB The Rwanda tourny is just for African based players, sort of consolation competiton I suppose.

Player eligibility[edit]

As required by the regulations, teams must be exclusively composed of national team players playing in their country's own domestic league.[2]

As I said, a minor tournament for teams comprised of only national championship based players. The next ACoN is in Gabon in 2017

That makes more sense. All I know is that it's every two years.

Didn't have a chance to (or be arsed to) read the small print, seeing as neither Senegal or Kenya qualified ;) Strange riles though, as didn't Sadio and Vic play in the qualifiers?

Also back to the OP .... WTF is Alps going on about?

Indeed, they also have a strange pattern of qualification rounds where AfCoN qualifiers and WC qualfiers alternate on occasions.

Sadio went to thje AfCoN last winter and won't be going in January 2016.

In fairness its more likely to be February

Who knows really, if there's any real likelyhood of him being sold he'll probably be useless to us from the moment he starts believing in it all. Like Victor last August IIRC.

Um, for £50m.... be mad not to sell!

Bunch of stuff on Sky about "should Vardy join a top 4 club" which is the exact same load of guff. By January people will probably have forgotten he even scored in 10 straight.

Rationale.

Not rational.

I've always wanted to correct MLG. :p
