awful signing

Yeah. A shame, but they happen.

I know this sounds odd as he hardly ever played, but will we look to replace him? I'm not 100% sure what he was signed for?

I'm thinking nippy he was signed as "Nippy 2nd striker" that plays off the main striker - but he always seemed to be 'bodged' out on the wing.

oddest signing in recent memory, even caulker was understandible seeing as how we were short of CBs and he was prem proven, but this lad must be a glitch in the black box, no obvious quality there. no blistering pace, no trickery, no strength, no eye for goal or a good delivery. clasie looks more comfortable on the ball and we say he sometimes looks like a little boy lost on the pitch.

Are you sure you were watching Juanmi? He is extremely quick and had a decent scoring record in La Liga last season.

He struggled with the physicality of the Premier League, but I can't see how anyone could think he wasn't quick. Especially the winning goal in this video vs Barcelona...

in the whole nature of things....this is a non-story.

Buying players is a lottery, some you win, some you lose.....Juanmi may become a good player ....in 2-3 years ..or perhaps never.

On this deal we'll lose £3 million. Gaston....Forran ...Mayuka....there have been others. Personally, I'm still angry about the whole Osvaldo affair ........:x

Worth a gamble, but was so far away from being a PL player it was scary. Hope he can go back to Spain and resurrect his career in La Liga.

Im not really sure that he had enough appearances for me to agree or disagree. Undoubtedly talented, I think he simply did not have the physical presence to compete at EPL level. We could have bulked him up or we could have just used him as a bit player in European games. I can't blame him for going back to Spain where I am sure he will achieve great things. Best of luck to him, I say.

  • 4 weeks later...
but what if the new manager really rates him............................................................

Its been being negotiated for a couple of months so too late.

Have to wonder how scouts ever thought he would meet the physical demands of the PL.

Fine to be small or slight but you need to be able to use your body like Silva or get a lot stronger quickly like Mane has.

Looks like we get most of our money back so no real bother and you have to take the odd low price risk.

Even though neither player was used much (if at all), you could sign one creative player to basically take both Juanmi & Gaston's place in the squad.

Cynic. I mean' date=' how could you possible spin: "player who doesn't play & wants to return to his home country starts exodus from club who doesn't play him?"[/quote']

The media, who Clarkey was referring to, not himself, wont need a small fact like that to stand in their way !
