Doctoroncall Posted 17 November, 2015 Share Posted 17 November, 2015 Plays CF or wing. Turns seventeen in February, and has netted 14 goals for the Under-18s side this season, including six in the FA Youth Cup.
sotonist Posted 17 November, 2015 Share Posted 17 November, 2015 The last striker we signed from a Gary Johnson team wasn't too bad.

Golden Balls Posted 18 November, 2015 Share Posted 18 November, 2015 Would be harsh on the Cheltenham fans who would have a player taken from them who hasn't even given them reason to cheer yet. Wonder why Benfica didn't snap him up after the trial.
david in sweden Posted 19 November, 2015 Share Posted 19 November, 2015 with so much media coverage already..we can only hope that Saints have their foot in the door on this one. Sounds like a good prospect and at 16 ....there is a great chance for him to develop in U18/ U21 level.......IF he decides on the right move. Golden Balls Posted 19 November, 2015 Share Posted 19 November, 2015 I remember all the fuss that was made about Jack Stephens when we signed him. I was living in Plymouth at the time and their fans really rated him. He'd played in the 1st team a few times. 4-5 years on and he seems to be struggling to make a break through. Still young mind. VectisSaint Posted 19 November, 2015 Share Posted 19 November, 2015 Koeman denied any interest in Luke Thomas at this afternoon's press conference He said he had never heard of him. Not surprisng, why would the First Team Manager be interested in a 16 year old who plays for a non-league team (unless he was a complete superstar). This is Les' territory, normal business for the Academy. 16 year old, probably won't even be near the first team before Ronald moves on.
david in sweden Posted 19 November, 2015 Share Posted 19 November, 2015 A few of the current " success stories " in the U18 /U21 side have come from players who were " rejected " by other Prem.sides. Buying someone (if we are) for £50K...from an L2 side (regardless of his talent) shouldn't create waves in a press conference, as he's not likely to break into the first team squad in the forseeable future. Don't expect RK to know the names /progress of every Academy lad. Signings at this level are not uncommon, we have signed goalie Harry Lewis (from Shrewsbury) and given contract extensions to half-a dozen U18/U21 prospects. Matthew Le God Posted 19 November, 2015 Share Posted 19 November, 2015 Koeman denied any interest in Luke Thomas at this afternoon's press conference I doubt the Koeman is kept regularly informed of the youth recruitment strategy for 16 years olds coming into the club. VectisSaint Posted 20 November, 2015 Share Posted 20 November, 2015 Oops ! my mistake, but isn't it called " National League " now ? The Vanarama National League, but I'm "old skool". It is still the Conference, but just rebranded.

Redslo Posted 21 November, 2015 Share Posted 21 November, 2015 Also, if the new home grown player rules are implemented it is important to sign players when they are sixteen so they can qualify as club trained. That being said, it may already be too late to qualify this fellow as club trained--depending on how the rules end up being written.
