aussiesaint20 Posted 16 November, 2015 Share Posted 16 November, 2015 What was BlazerCon? An event in New York hosted by the Men in Blazers (you might remember one of them from the Southampton Way doco). It was a lofty $225 a ticket, but was sold out very quickly. If you want more info on the event itself, head to: http://blazercon.splashthat.com/ or https://tagboard.com/BlazerCon/search I wasn't at the event myself, but acted as a go-between to ensure we had Southampton fans in attendance. I thought some of you would be interested to hear how Ralph was received by both our fans and others. Here's some of the feedback from those that attended: Cameran: Great days for the Saints fans in New York that got to meet, converse with, and listen to Chairman Ralph Krueger. He sat down and had a nice conversation with a couple of us Saints supporters. Top, top guy. Very knowledgeable and very passionate about the club. Absolutely fantastic leader that takes Katharina's vision for the club and applies it to his everyday life. Jack: It was unbelievable, was great to meet a bunch of US fans. I actually couldn't believe how accessible Ralph made himself, he put aside a good half hour 45 minutes to chat to us, answered everything, direct questions about youth team, transfers, managers unbelievable bloke, thanks very much for making me aware of the whole thing, I definitely I owe you one! @Ethan_kraft: Ralph Krueger once more proving that Southampton FC is one of England’s classiest clubs. @fwdale: Southampton is planning on partnering with youth academies in the United States starting early next year. @fwdale: Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger says that a five-year contract for a player is really a three-year deal in today's world. #BlazerCon @fwdale: According to Krueger, many of the EPL teams start scouting players between the ages of five and eight. #BlazerCon @doctorhoosier: Absolutely phenomenal talk from the Southampton chair at BlazerCon. Really admire the way they do things. @NicholasMendola: I’ve heard Ralph Krueger speak for 30 minutes and I’m ready to follow him through the minefield. @PBrennanENQ: As always, Winnepeg-native and SouthamptonFC Chairman Ralph Krueger gave a brilliant lecture on the “Southampton Way”

If we are to get anywhere near creating an " international image " - we have to start somewhere. Wonder what the club strategy is to "sell in" the Saints image in Japan? Toshiya is working on it There's also the @SouthamptonFCJP Twitter account, although it's mainly direct translations of the SFC Tweets. Would be good to have more of Maya on there. Anything from Q+A's in Japanese to running competitions for signed Maya Saints gear.
Saint Charlie Posted 16 November, 2015 Share Posted 16 November, 2015 The comment about a 5 year deal in reality being 3 is spot on. Definitely seems they have pushed hard for 5 year deals most recently (Van Dijk, Clasie) rather than 4 (Tadic, Mane etc) as it buys you a little more time. Still a total turkey, and on the post Poch/Koeman watch. They will always happen no matter who is in charge, whether you want to blame Cortese and/or Poch or just accept that everyone makes mistakes, and mistakes will occur in the future, just as they have in the past. Mr Biscuits Posted 16 November, 2015 Share Posted 16 November, 2015 Do you know, I've always had the feeling that Taider didn't really want to come to Saints and just did everything he could to avoid it. His loss tbh.
Stud mark of doom Posted 17 November, 2015 Share Posted 17 November, 2015 Let it go mate, let it go. Ancient history now. What I meant was, a five year contract might well be like a three year contract if a player does well. But it's is very much like a five year contract if he does badly. I 'forecast' that we will have some poor signings in years to come - hopefully not too many tho.

His loss tbh. I suspect the feelings were mutual, but as someone already alluded to, was just a sweetener business deal to get rid of the nut job at the time.
