Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES

You don't have to. I was just curious how someone comes to have so much hatred for so many people that they don't know and don't do them any harm. I might be miles away from it but we don't know where the next attack may come. If it comes here it wont change my opinion. I also used to work in London at the height of the IRA attacks and guess what, I don't hate the Northern Irish either.
Who do I hate that I don't know?

Glad we've established you don't hate those with issues of anti-Semitism, women and gay rights, rape gangs and terrorism.

Still no answers to my earlier questions as usual.

I don't profess to be an expert on rape but I did work as a manager in the CPS for 8 years and for many of those years managed a group of paralegal officers who worked with the Rape and Serious Sexual Assault team, so yes, I know quite a bit about the prosecution of rape.

Was it that experience that led you to the conclusion that muslim rape gangs haven't been raping and abusing young girls across Britain for the past ten years?

I have never professed to study homosexuality nor do I profess to be an expert on the subject. There are gay people who live in the village and I socialise with some of them.

You stated that there were six gay people in your village and you knew who they all were. I found that creepy at the time, and still do. I have no idea how many gay people there are in my village, and don't care.

You do know that Turkey is a Muslim country don't you?

Turkey is a secular country (since 1928 ) with a predominantly muslim population.

So you have no direct experience of any of the things you accuse me of having no direct experience of yet you choose to hate a whole religion and I chose not to. What questions am I not answering? I have already said I am not bothered if a mosque was built here. We already have a church which is empty most of the time so it would be nice to have a place of worship that was used. I don't have a problem if Muslims moved in next door. The pub is the heart of the community here and the chances of it being closed are pretty slim. Are they closing your pubs down then?
Do you struggle to read? I just stated I lived in an area that has had significant Islamic immigration. I was round the corner from the Tavistock Square explosion.

But why do I need to have first hand experience of anti-Semitism, women and gay rights, rape gangs and terrorism to not want them brought to our shores?

Let us be clear - you want to see a culture that brings all these things to us spread further over the UK and Europe, whilst not living amongst any of it yourself.

I agree that it is a waste of time, but his views are exactly what IS are trying to promote and they do need challenging. It is just a shame that more posters don't use their energy to challenge these views but it seems that some have other priorities! To be fair to Sour Mash though, at least he is up front about what he really thinks and you know what you are dealing with.

Where have I said that rape gangs didn't exist please? I know people in the village who happen to be gay and they happen to be friends - there might be more, I really don't know. One of them I used to work for in the CPS. Nothing sinister about it. I only raised the point before because Hypo was getting his panties in a bunch about Gay people and apparently you have to know Gays or Muslims personally before you can have a view about them. Glad we agree about Turkey.

Oh yes, because I cant have a view on Muslims unless I know several personally. Which also means I cant have a view on Southampton FC and many other things. You really are a strange little chap aren't you? I don't think I have had an exchange like this since I was about 7 or 8 years old.

Help me out here...Autism or Asperger's?

I have respect for you SOG as normally you remain dignified when getting pelters but you shouldn't be using special needs as insults. Hinders the problem of acceptance.

Yes I agree that he's open with his views ,so I do agree with you say and that you try to open up his mind to a different mindset and your right.. to many people nowadays do not challenge the extreme views in our society at the moment.

Agreed, not enough people challenging extremism in society at the moment. One of the reasons that terrorism continues to flourish.

It wasn't meant as an insult Whelk. I really think that he has some serious issues. I don't take mental health issues lightly and have been treated for depression myself in the past and my ex wife had really bad OCD. I have worked with some people who are on the spectrum and they show similar traits to our friend. It would certainly answer a few questions.

Nice try Sour but you know full well that he is talking about people with closed minds and bigoted views. I think we all understand that terrorism is being challenged and dealt with as much as is possible.

Yes, so am I talking about closed minds and bigoted views - anti-Semitism, women and gay rights, rape gangs and terrorism. All things you want to see a spread of (but of course not actually where you live).

Interesting you think enough is being done on these, despite the still on-going controversy the way the issue in Rotherham was dealt with.

Also interesting that you think not a single thing more could be done to prevent terrorism or the encouragement of terrorist views. http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/653818/Molenbeek-terror-raid-Paris-attacks-Salah-Abdeslam-Belgium-riot-police

Nope, never said I want to see them spread. So are you really saying that all Muslims are anti semitic, sexist, homophobic, sexual predators and terrorists???

I didn't say enough is being done. I think that the security forces are the prosecution are doing what they can. There have been failures and I am sure that lessons will be learnt.

I expect more could be done to combat terrorism but also expect that would take more resources.

Over 1 billion people and you think we are at threat from all of them?

"No" to both of those questions. But you don't get to pick and choose the bits of Islamic culture that you want I'm afraid.

You said "I think we all understand that terrorism is being challenged and dealt with as much as is possible." Apart from that obviously being wrong, how much more terrorism would we be experiencing if it wasn't being challenged and dealt with "as much as possible" as you state?

I admire your robust defence of a minority in our country but you have to take your head out of the sand. Today there are places where Jewish people are unable to walk in our country for fear of their lives. This betrays all of the modern day values that almost all of us subscribe to. Anti-Semitism is mainstream in parts of our society and that is unacceptable.

Of course you do. If you want to ignore the good and just focus on the bad, that is down to you. If you don't think that terrorism is being dealt with to your satisfaction I suggest you take that up with your MP. You certainly aren't going to sort it out on an internet football forum.

There are all sorts of no go areas in many places but yes, anti-Semitism is not acceptable as is all forms of discrimination against race or religion. Where do Jewish people fear to go in this country?

Nothing is going to be sorted out on a football forum, you do realise that on every thread? and you've posted on here far more than anyone else.

But just to confirm, you do realise you don't get any of the good things you love about Islam (whatever they may be), without all the bad? You don't get to choose, so if you want more of one, you get more of the other?

No answer to my question as usual as well.

You seem awfully animated about that bit, some might say you are at "great pains" to point it out.

I agree the programme would have been better off not quoting the "this equates to X thousand Muslims" for that stat as it wasn't particularly helpful, but they were absolutely correct not to start quoting 600k of the general population as you advise which would have been a ridiculous statement.

With a standard margin of error for a survey like this 1% is simply not statistically significant and the programme was right to not dwell on it.

Rather amusing that you've been getting upset about how sensationalist the programme was but then demanding that they report utterly sensational and baseless info instead. Well done.

Ummm.. I'm neither animated nor upset. Not sure why you think I am. You appear to have agreed with my view that quoting 100k of Muslims wasn't very helpful. My point was, if you want a fair reflection of the survey, you either quote both or neither. I would have preferred neither so what's your problem, with that?

Not yet. I won't hang my hat on stats though either way.

Funny how you can predict so many reactions though and the intolerant desperate need to get excited and need to defend against those nasty right wingers they see everywhere.

Awaiting an ironic pic of the Red Lion in Benidorm.

Oh and regarding the smug who your going to avoid comment. Came up earlier with SOG and his very little real life knowledge of Islam and any contact with Muslims.

That won't stop the desire to see racism and islamaphobia in many though when you actually don't know what you are talking about.

And you have the nerve to pull me up on my post after your pathetic paedophiles on the park post? Unbelievable.

Let me quote my post again:

"if you want a fair reflection of the survey, you either quote both or neither. I would have preferred neither"

Seems like a reasonable approach to me. The point being if C4 are happy to quote the number in respect of Muslims, then they should be happy to quote the number for the general population. Both numbers are completely misleading and unfounded, as you say, and they would have been better served quoting neither. However, by only quoting the number for Muslims that have some sympathy with suicide numbers it suggests a certain amount of bias. Agree or not?

Using the percentage of Muslims was fine as it shows a representative sample - a small minority that agreed with the statement and also indexed significantly above the control group.

That's how they should have explained the data - a distinct minority who expressed "sympathy" versus the control sample. The % were small so unhelpful to dramatise it with hundreds of thousands of people, but not strictly wrong as it gave a reading within the margin of error, but just misjudged.

Your "both or neither" argument came after you twice asking for C4 to express the 1% of the general population as a number and, more importantly, after I explained to you why this would be sensationalist and silly, but nice try anyway.

No, my point has always been that if they're quoting 1% of the Muslim population as a number then they should do the same with the 4% quoted for the general population otherwise it suggests a certain level of bias by just doing so with one and not the other.

I would have argued the same if they quoted the number of the general population and not the Muslim population as that would have suggested bias the other way and if you're after a reasonable and rational analysis of the figures, you want an even playing field. Nice try though.

And my point, which it looks like you still don't understand, is that the 1% is not statistically significant to justify turning that into a population equivalent. It would be an unjustified, sensationalist number.

On the 4% it wasn't incorrect to show the population, just ill-advised editorially.

For you to again suggest Channel 4 knowingly share false and unjustified information suggest you don't really understand what "a reasonable and rational analysis of the figures" actually means. Funny I thought you understood my point when I explained before but looks like I over estimated you.

Try again.

PS. Also interesting you switched the percentages around in this post. Nice try.

Yes I do realise that. You are the one getting worked up about needing to do more about terrorism.

Are you saying we choose terrorism? Did we chose to be bombed by the IRA as well? You condemn a whole religion just because a small percentage of them choose to murder? There is no choice. This is where we are in the world and just because you don't like Muslims it doesn't mean that they do not have the right to exist. I expect they don't particularly care for people like you either, but they have to put up with you. How do you feel about people who murder, rape and steal but don't have the Muslim label?
