Thedelldays Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 I wouldn't expect much more out of us against the champions of Europe/England/The rest of the world etc. This type of performance, with the passion etc week in week out, would see us in the play-offs in April. er..no it wont..we have done so many basics wrong...which does not matter who we play..
SNSUN Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 i'd take a consolation goal. i said i'd be happy if we keep it below five. I still am.
gaz Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Ian Holloway has been speaking so much sense right now, saying we have no shape, and no experienced players around to take some of the burden off the younger players - constant losses destroys confidence.
Legod Third Coming Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 at least redknapp is going out next round - good! and getting relegated too I hope
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 we need to bring HOLLOWAY in NOW he sees the way we play and knows exactly what is wrong Rupert get him in Two farmers in one club? No thanks.
benjii Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 I wouldn't expect much more out of us against the champions of Europe/England/The rest of the world etc. This type of performance, with the passion etc week in week out, would see us in the play-offs in April. You are mental. We've been gash and United are just strolling around.
Legod Third Coming Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Ian Holloway has been speaking so much sense right now, saying we have no shape, and no experienced players around to take some of the burden off the younger players - constant losses destroys confidence. exactly - we should bring him in!!!!
Gingeletiss Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 ball to hand!!!!! as in..not intentional Any shot on goal.....intentional or not, if it strikes the hand/arm, it's a penalty.
Ponty Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 KD looks so sharp. We'll do well not to lose him tbh.
RobM Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 You have bad eyesight too. 5Live said the replay showed it clearly struck the shoulder when they saw a replay. Feel free to apologise to Gingletiss whenever you're ready
Legod Third Coming Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Two farmers in one club? No thanks. lol good point
Thedelldays Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 5Live said the replay showed it clearly struck the shoulder when they saw a replay. Feel free to apologise to Gingletiss whenever you're ready the ref did not have that...
Ponty Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Oh, and a big NO THANKS to the joker Holloway. Where has he ever been good?
benjii Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Any shot on goal.....intentional or not, if it strikes the hand/arm, it's a penalty. You clearly don't know the rules but as it did not hit his arm or any part of his body deemed to be the "arm" for the purposes of a handball offence, it doesn't matter anyway.
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 You are mental. We've been gash and United are just strolling around. It's Manchester United. Enough said mate. You're the one who is 'mental' if you think we could be doing any better than what we currently are with a bunch of kids.
benjii Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 5Live said the replay showed it clearly struck the shoulder when they saw a replay. Feel free to apologise to Gingletiss whenever you're ready 5Live are wrong. HTH.
JustMike Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Any shot on goal.....intentional or not, if it strikes the hand/arm, it's a penalty. wrong!! what if the hand was by the side?
RobM Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 the ref did not have that... I know, I was referring to Benjii being so adamant that GLT was wrong, when he wasn't.
Thedelldays Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 It's Manchester United. Enough said mate. You're the one who is 'mental' if you think we could be doing any better than what we currently are with a bunch of kids. not at all...we have done so many basics wrong that would not matter if it macclesfield or man u...the fact it is man u means KD has been far busier..
Gingeletiss Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 You clearly don't know the rules but as it did not hit his arm or any part of his body deemed to be the "arm" for the purposes of a handball offence, it doesn't matter anyway. Laws....not rules......any more debate!!!
RobM Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 5Live are wrong. HTH. Setanta must be wrong too, as what I saw on there (twice) confirmed this. You are wrong. HTH.
benjii Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 It's Manchester United. Enough said mate. You're the one who is 'mental' if you think we could be doing any better than what we currently are with a bunch of kids. I've never said I thought we would do any better today. I'm simply disagreeing with you when you state we've been decent today and would win league games playing like this. I think we've been rubbish.
Under Weststand Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 er..no it wont..we have done so many basics wrong...which does not matter who we play.. Have to agree TDD we don't defend anywhere near competently & have no cutting edge.
benjii Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Setanta must be wrong too, as what I saw on there (twice) confirmed this. You are wrong. HTH. I've seen it and I'm right. HTH.
RobM Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 I've seen it and I'm right. HTH. Outnumbered. You lose. Sorry about that. (btw.. this is more entertaining than watching the game )
Gingeletiss Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 wrong!! what if the hand was by the side? Still counts.....it was a law change about 10 years ago. I'm sure a practcing ref will come on and settle this.
badgerx16 Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Oh, and a big NO THANKS to the joker Holloway. Where has he ever been good? Where has Poortvliet ever been good ?
Ponty Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 It's still fair to say that both goals were contentious and we're only 2 down. This is not the humiliating turn-over I was expecting.
Ponty Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Where has Poortvliet ever been good ? Replacing sh*t with sh*t is not the answer though. We tried that in the boardroom, remember
Poshie72 Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Have to agree TDD we don't defend anywhere near competently & have no cutting edge. totally agree
Legod Third Coming Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Guys - we have been outplayed by a team worth over ONE HUNDRED TIMES what ours is worth. Give them a break you t0ssers.
benjii Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Outnumbered. You lose. Sorry about that. (btw.. this is more entertaining than watching the game ) I have to agree with that! ps. I'm right.
RobM Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 totally agree Seconded. We haven't looked as stupid as I feared when going forward, but every time they attack it's like rabbits in headlights. And set pieces are just a disaster.
JustMike Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Still counts.....it was a law change about 10 years ago. I'm sure a practcing ref will come on and settle this. sorry mate but wrong. have seen it loads on sky etc, if the ball is crossed in or similar and the player delibrately sticks his arm in the way then yes, penalty, but if it strikes his arm, when it is in its "natural" position then no penalty OR the ref has to use common sence (i know, i know ;-) )
benjii Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Guys - we have been outplayed by a team worth over ONE HUNDRED TIMES what ours is worth. Give them a break you t0ssers. No complaints about being outplayed and I'm not having a go at the players who no doubt are trying, just aren't very good - it's the management that really ****es me off. Utterly clueless. We could do a few simple things that would help us out immensely but we don't we persevere with football that produces no chances at home. How much more did the Liverpool team cost than the Preston team? The Man City team than the Forest team etc..... We just have no idea how to pressurise other teams or to play effective football. EDIT - I realise Preston lost, not sure why I referred to them really?!
badgerx16 Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Guys - we have been outplayed by a team worth over ONE HUNDRED TIMES what ours is worth. Give them a break you t0ssers. But then again, we have also been outplayed at SMS by Blackpool and Notts Forest........
Saint Billy Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 I've never said I thought we would do any better today. I'm simply disagreeing with you when you state we've been decent today and would win league games playing like this. I think we've been rubbish. I think we have been crud tbh, no threat what so ever. Even when we pass it about we end up giving it back to them rather than threaten their goal.
Nellie Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 i think the ref (like s) could not understand why he jumped like that UNdeliberately...if you get me. jumping like that is not normal I agree with you fully, he was very naive to jump like that but it still didn't hit his arm and Riley was close enough not to **** that up. You can't give a free kick for someone trying to handball. wrong....it dosn't No, you are very wrong, feel free to have a look at the link below from the FIFA website (I've put the relevant text in bold to make it easy for you). Maybe you'd care to explain what he should have done with his shoulder? It's not like he could move it, is it. http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/affederation/federation/81/42/36/lotg_en.pdf "A direct free kick is also awarded to the opposing team if a player commits any of the following three offences: • holds an opponent • spits at an opponent • handles the ball deliberately (except for the goalkeeper within his own penalty area)"
saint lard Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Guys - we have been outplayed by a team worth over ONE HUNDRED TIMES what ours is worth. Give them a break you t0ssers. Perhaps very nearly the same as the difference between Man City and Forest ? Sorry just being argumentative.
Gingeletiss Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 sorry mate but wrong. have seen it loads on sky etc, if the ball is crossed in or similar and the player delibrately sticks his arm in the way then yes, penalty, but if it strikes his arm, when it is in its "natural" position then no penalty OR the ref has to use common sence (i know, i know ;-) ) Guess the meeting I attended with Hants FA describing the law change was either a dream, or I mis-interpreted it;)
whiteleySaint30 Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 Watched Gillingham against Villa, at least the Gills had some Men to put up a fight against their premiership opposition. We only have boys (this is not a dig at the lads out there) out there who have no experiance.
RobM Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 has their keeper even had to make a save? Yup, more times in the first half though and not many, but yes. We have also dragged a couple wide. Games all over now, but we haven't been too bad going forward, it's just our defensive side that's been as shocking as always.
