Chez Posted 23 January, 2016 Share Posted 23 January, 2016 Once again his passing stood out. Miles ahead of the rest (and Morgan in fact) at passing the ball forwards quickly and incisively. What he lacks in athleticism he makes up for with quality Boy did First time forward passing stand out at old Trafford.

austsaint Posted 24 January, 2016 Share Posted 24 January, 2016 Astonishingly good from Clasie until he picked up the knock. His pressing and tackling was high level stuff and some of his attacking passes unlocked Man U. hands down. He and Vic bossed midfield and Romeu maintained the advantage when brought on. shurlock Posted 24 January, 2016 Share Posted 24 January, 2016 Excellent first half, always looking up. However, he struggled second half as United were able to drive much more through the heart of our midfield. The Romeu sub couldnt come soon enough at which point they became much more one-dimensional again, restricted to the flanks through the square-pegs-in-round-holes wingbacks. david in sweden Posted 24 January, 2016 Share Posted 24 January, 2016 Getting better game by game Good to wait a little before writing someone off I reckon It takes time for players to adjust to a new team. Some may need more time, whilst others hit the ground running (like Charlie Austin yesterday). Some fans are too quick to say...he's no Schneiderlin , or so-and-so isn't as good as Clyne (who was way out of his depth in the first few games after he arrived) Martina's critics were silenced by his goal v. Arsenal, but he hasn't made any match-losing moves in his brief game time, and now Cedric looks better in every match, and I still can't forget the " footballing genius " on here who wrote ....savagely comparing Mane to Ali Dia ..after his first few games. Clasie was unfortunate not to have had a full pre-season with the rest of the squad, and then picking up two awkward injuries before he came into the team. He maybe short in stature, but I think he showed yesterday that he can give as good as he gets and some of his long passing is inch perfect for the receiving player. He may surprise us all and become Player of the Season.

Lazlo78 Posted 14 February, 2016 Share Posted 14 February, 2016 That was Davis I think. Saint-Armstrong Posted 27 February, 2016 Share Posted 27 February, 2016 Was watching a very different game to you. Really? He sprayed the ball around, played some nice intricate short passes, cut through their lines at times to put others in, battled for everything and came up with a couple of blocks and interceptions. Great display.

After his injury-marred start ....he drew a lot of criticism from some impatient types on this site, but he does look better now. Saint Charlie Posted 20 March, 2016 Author Share Posted 20 March, 2016 (edited) Slight dip in form of late after having a good spell. Leicester will be a high tempo game, I would probably leave him out for that one with Wanyama now available. He is tidy on the ball but physically has struggled a lot at times, including today (tempo as much as height/strength). Wonder how he will look to combat that longer term? Our midfield with him and Romeu is quite slow and lacking agility which is fine when defending deep and with 3 centre backs but was highlighted numerous times today in the first half when we were so, so easy to counter as there are no midfielders with recovery pace. He will massively have benefitted from this season, but will need to find ways of being effective for 90mins more often to be a long term success, especially if he will be here when Koeman perhaps isn't. NB: not criticism, just how I am seeing it. Edited 20 March, 2016 by Saint Charlie

Nordic Saint Posted 26 March, 2016 Share Posted 26 March, 2016 Clasie usually gets ratings of 4 to 6 out of 10, with the comment that he passed well but was weak defensively and allowed the opposition midfield to control the game. I agree that Clasie is a neat footballer but I'm not sure that he can cope with the central defensive midfield role we bought him for. Maybe he might be better as an attacking midfielder but so far we have seen no assists or goals from him. Players do improve at Southampton so let's hope there is more to come from him. van Hanegem Posted 28 March, 2016 Share Posted 28 March, 2016 He needs to be far stronger to succeed in this league. Good technically, mind Agreed, next season will be decision time for Clasie. He says he's at 75% at the moment so there's room to improve. But I do have my doubts if 25% improvement will be enough for him to cope with the power in the PL for a full season. BallBoy Posted 9 April, 2016 Share Posted 9 April, 2016 the game completely passed him by today You must have been watching a different game? We started with just 2 specialist midfielders so both Wanyama and Clasie had to work hard against an, admittedly, poor Newcastle side. I thought both did very well and were constantly involved. Clasie is improving game by game.
