Clasie looked a bit off the pace, was disappointing to surrender the midfield so easily in the second half but they did very little to actually threaten regardless. We have to be more ruthless after taking the lead.

First half, fantastic. The Cherries were lucky to only be 2-0 down at half time, a fully deserved win on that basis.

First half goals from Steven Davis and Graziano Pellè, who scores yet again.

Thought Clasie was pretty impressive while he was on, and Cédric just keeps on improving.

Shouldn't have let up second half like we did, but got away with it this time.

You are joking re Clasie, surely? The last time I saw a player so out of his depth was Ali Dia

Cedric MOM. Great Credit to Bournemouth and Eddie Howe for second half.

So what went wrong? Did we learn nothing from Leicester?

Was Fonte injured?

Yoshida did very well, but once Fonte went off the pitch we lost our leader and organizer. You need leaders on the pitch.

I think great credit to Eddie Howe. He won second half tactics. He nullified Pelle and Mane. Other teams will watch what Bournemouth did and we need to find some answers quickly.

Howe also set them up completely wrong first half.

He was very complimentary about Saints post match, said even from his point of view our goals were high quality.

For most of the first half we played some really good football and I thought we would go on and get a couple more in the second half but it looked as though it was going to be another Leicester thank goodness they did not have a striker of quality, second half was a moral victory for them as they pinned us back for most of the half.

Wanyama's sending off not that big deal. He was already on plenty of yellows and on the verge of suspension anyway. Plus, we should be able to handle Sunderland with Romeu, Classie, JWP. More importantly, Romeu didn't pick up a yellow after he came on, as I think one more yellow, he goes on suspension. So he is available next week.

So expect a yellow from Romeu next week at Sunderland when he plays. Then he misses Stoke, but we'll have Wanyama back. Then, we have both Romeu and Wanyama available for City.

I think 7th in the table with only 2 losses after 11 matches is something we all would have taken in August.

Lineup has stabilized which is great. I hope Fonte was just taken off as a precaution. Yoshida to me, despite his brilliant goal last Wednesday, is like a curse. We seems to always play worse when he is in the lineup. (even if he is not directly responsible for it)

People said the same about Mane. Be prepared to be proved wrong.

I thought we defended brilliantly second half and saw out the game. No dramas and no need for noncing about. Certainly no need for meltdown about the second half performance.

Better opposition would have taken advantage - there's no way we should have allowed them so much time and space.

Those criticising Wanyama, he shouldn't have been put in a position by his teammates where he was putting in last ditch challenges on a yellow.

He wasn't 'put in a position' as you claim. He didn't need to make the challenge as there were covering players. It was completely unnecessary.

On the train. First half we were excellent second half we were turd.

Cedric is quickly becoming a favorite of mine best player on the pitch today unlike Bertrand who had a very poor day.

Never seen a red carded player go off to a standing ovation before today. Vic was good today despite what some are saying.

Also considering we don't care about this game a hell lot of people seemed to get very worked up in the Itchen north today ?

They were a decent striker away from repeating the Leicester debacle.

happy with the win obviously, but absolutely fuming about that second half performance.

Oh and can any moron singing that "you're ****ing ****" chant please stop. Thought the idiots would have learnt from the Leicester game.

Cedric and Steven Davis the two contenders for MOTM. Clasie had a good first half but faded badly in the second. The team as a whole were very poor in the second half. Pelle won absolutely nothing and the ball kept on coming back at us. Tadic has moments of quality, just like the cross for Pelle's goal but is such a liability defensively. Got away with that today in my opinion, a better team would have punished us.

If you dive in and go to ground you run the risk of a yellow card, reckless at least from him.

It was a silly tackle and was only going to result in a second yellow.

Despite their possession in the second half we were largely untroubled but mostly because they were too poor to take advantage.

Quite disappointed with our fans. When the team needed a lift in the second half we went silent.

First have was excellent and Cedric was MOTM for me. His link up with Mane was excellent.

Second half we were lucky to hold on to the win.

The only real disappointment was the Bournemouth fan who got knocked unconscious outside the ground. My wife and I attended to him (Paramedics) which was interesting seeing as it was all kicking off and we were in Saints tops amongst the Bournemouth fans. Heyho it's life I suppose.

We really must learn to react when teams clearly change their strategy at half time and that is the job of the manager and coaching staff. Bournemouth stuck two wide men right on the touchlines and then squeezed and pressed us hard through the centre. Result, we panicked in possession, missplaced passes and generally played hoofball to nobody in particular. When they had the ball we failed to press or mark tightly so they were able to play between the lines at will. It surely can't be that difficult to counteract a tactical change and make one of your own. Having said that we played tremendously in the first half and scored a couple of quality goals. We just need to expect these tactical changes and have a plan B or this will carry on happening. Sort it out Ronald.

First half we were able to play high up the pitch and as a result dominated the game and played very well. Once King came on our back 4 dropped deeper and it was a role reversal as their back 4 pushed up and we had no outlet ball. A Long or a Rodriguez coming on for Pelle to run the channels and push them back would have helped us massively, although even if they had been fit I doubt RK would ever use that option. Pelle was fantastic in the first half but won nothing in the second.

B'mouth played some nice football without creating chances. They don't just need a goal scorer, they need players who will create chances

Also Mane had his worst game in a long time. Don't like him on the wing though, prefer him playing in behind Pelle.

Thought the same, I was really looking forward to the battle between him and old man Distin but they never really went toe to toe.

What a load of crap he played very well first half but faded second probably because he isn't match fit yet.

As others have said, game of two halves - during the majority of the second 45 Bournemouth had little penetration - lots of huff and puff, but nothing really to blow the house down.

It had shades of the Villa game last season, where Saints just sat back and went into cruise control for the 2nd half.

Today Saints had one attack, and with a slightly better final ball it would have 3-0.

Bournemouth need to beat the teams around them, and try to match those that finished in the bottom half last year to survive.

With a fully fit squad, they are significantly better than Villa, Sunderland and Newcastle, and on a par at least with Watford and Norwich.

It would seem that Murray and Ritchie need to score the majority of the goals needed to achieve this, which is a tough ask but by no means impossible.
