Saints fan remains in critical condition after attack by gang of 20

Absoultely dreadful thing to happen, but I wonder why the echo mentioned the saints support? Is thre a football angle or just a coincidence?

 

A SAINTS fan has been left fighting for his life after being attacked by a 20-strong gang of yobs in the street.

 

The 47-year-old suffered serious head injuries when he was assaulted by the mob as he walked along the road.

 

Police last night said he was in a critical condition at Southampton General Hospital as they revealed three school pupils had been held on suspicion of carrying out the attack.

 

Two boys aged 15 were arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. A third boy - aged just 14 - was arrested by officers a short time later.

 

 

All three were quizzed and since released on bail.

 

 

Police and paramedics were called to the scene in New Road, Hythe, around 8.30pm on Sunday - just hours after the final whistle went on the televised Liverpool v Saints match.

Its amazing how brave these morons become when there are a group of them together. I am sure they wouldn't think twice about it if it was just one against one. Cowards and total aholes the lot of them.

He was walking home wearing a Saints shirt after the Liverpool match. It was mentioned in the article in the Echo. I Knew him well, a really nice person. He did a lot of window work locally. Anybody know how he is getting on. He was only 50/50 after the attack, fractured skull etc.

As a Hythe local (or used to be) it's shocking to see this in our area. Sad times, and I hope he's ok.

His business partner is doing some work for me. Jason is now on the mend and has just been taken off life support. The consensus surfacing is that the perpetrators because of age will probably only get a slap on the wrist with the GBH with intent charge reduced to GBH. Useless justice system, five years with hard labour would be more appropriate.
