Yorkshire Saint Posted 25 October, 2015 Share Posted 25 October, 2015 I am lucky to see odd games abroad and esp in Germany, there is little parafinalia pre match with music etc and grounds are full and singing as per the Milton days gone by. I used to be right side by 12:30! I note the Manchester derby have switched off the music today and the fans are chanting both ways. I'd welcome that at st Mary's ! Daft Kerplunk Posted 25 October, 2015 Share Posted 25 October, 2015 Agreed, worst thing ever introduced to football has been music after goals especially. 100% unnecessary
The9 Posted 25 October, 2015 Share Posted 25 October, 2015 Music after goals is pointless. Music walking onto the pitch at least helps with global branding and timekeeping for worldwide broadcasts, but they could still do without all that palaver and handshake nonsense without negatively affecting the "matchday experience" in any way. Graffito Posted 25 October, 2015 Share Posted 25 October, 2015 The crowd creates atmosphere. Music destroys it.
Crazy Diamond Posted 25 October, 2015 Share Posted 25 October, 2015 The crowd creates atmosphere Trouble is, I'm not sure it does anymore - at any ground. Today for example you didn't hear the 'famous' Anfield atmosphere until Liverpool scored. In fact it was pretty damn quiet. I've been to Newcastle where again the crowd is supposed to be brilliant. Until they were a goal up they didn't sing at all.
saintquin Posted 26 October, 2015 Share Posted 26 October, 2015 It's the volume that gets me. I know I'm getting old but I swear my ears are bleeding by the start of the second half!
shurlock Posted 26 October, 2015 Share Posted 26 October, 2015 (edited) Thought Midtjylland's use of the Alan Parson's Sirius/Eye in the Sky (instrumental/intro loop) was half decent, though I've also heard it at the Superdome in New Orleans.
