dronskisaint Posted 24 October, 2015 Share Posted 24 October, 2015 Had the chance to take a look at our Under 18s today at Norwich (only 20 miles from me) so Plonko and myself nipped up to Colney and saw an entertaining game that we really should have won comfortably. I've been encouraged a few times this season by the way our U21 team plays in a very similar style to the first team and was similarly encouraged by the youngsters today, they move the ball quickly and press high to regain possession - the ball winning prowess of our attack today was particularly impressive and the only disappointment was that our superiority didn't manifest itself in goals.'Fela Olomola could, probably should, have scored several on the chances created but looks a real prospect if he can improve on his accuracy.. wasn't far away today but will kick himself for a couple of easy chances missed. Elsewhere Callum Slattery looked classy, I was impressed by Richard Bakary at RB...apart from the throws...3 foul throws (actually 2 but the linesman was on a mission) ..really!? The central defenders O'Connor and Rowthorn looked assured and composed on the ball and the goalkeeper lad we signed from Shrewsbury, Harry Lewis, never stopped directing, informing and encouraging the players in front of him..it was good to see as was the general spirit of fighting for and supporting each other. Can't help feeling that our way of playing and the ethos..the 'Southampton way' is in good hands! Met some other supporters up from the South - father of one of the CBs and a couple of friends - nice to meet you guys, respect for the miles covered following the team! Saint Charlie Posted 24 October, 2015 Share Posted 24 October, 2015 Cheers for the report. Saw yesterday that Marcus Barnes the U21 striker has been ruled out through injury for the rest of the season which is a shame as he had looked good so far this season. Haven't seen Olomola live but from the clips he looks an awkward player to face, quick, strong and direct. Hopefully he can kick on.
