Sergei Gotsmanov Posted 22 October, 2015 Share Posted 22 October, 2015 I have made a chunky investment on Bournemouth to get relegated. I got 2/1 and it was too attractive with a team that is 4th from bottom and has just lost their top scorer to injury. They are 12/1 to finish bottom. Was this foolhardy or a good piece of business? aintforever Posted 22 October, 2015 Share Posted 22 October, 2015 Good bet, there is no way they will survive with the injuries they have. They are only above the bottom three because of a decent run of fixtures, they will be way adrift by Xmas.
buctootim Posted 22 October, 2015 Share Posted 22 October, 2015 You can get 1000:1 for Chelsea to go down. I'd take that over Bournemouth at 2:
benjii Posted 22 October, 2015 Share Posted 22 October, 2015 They are like a worse version of us in our first season up, except that Rodriguez, Lambert, Clyne and Lallana are injured for ages and they don't have anyone as good as Schneiderlin or Fonte. Yep, relegation. I actually think all three promoted teams might go down this year. Watford and Norwich are seriously lacking in quality. Newcastle have some good players and if they can get a bit of confidence they will stay up. Sunderland have appointed Fat Sam; I can't stand him and I hate his football but they might stay up now. Other than those two, I think only WBA or Villa are in with a "shout" of going down, with Villa being the more likely of the two to do so.

buctootim Posted 22 October, 2015 Share Posted 22 October, 2015 I will give you 1000:1 on Chelsea going down. What's your stake? Thats my point. To win £1,000 Id only need to stake £1 its effectively a no risk bet. To win the same with Bournemouth you need to risk a sizeable wedge. Of course Bournemouth are vulnerable to going down but 2:1 isnt worth it imo. Its a long season, we're less than a quarter way through it and probably 10 teams could be in the mix

Sergei Gotsmanov Posted 22 October, 2015 Author Share Posted 22 October, 2015 Great. £1 each with both of you. Its all upside and no downside for me. For you two, exactly the reverse. Make a donation to a charity of your choice and I will take the £1 bet; and demonstrate you have done it. The question is about value. For me Bournemouth is good value at 2/1 when I think they should be 5/6. Chelsea is not good value even at 1050 to 1.

I see your point, but there is still zero chance of Chelsea going down so you ARE throwing £1 down the drain
