Shance Posted 17 October, 2015 Share Posted 17 October, 2015 I really like Jay but there's a good reason why his game time is being limited. Tadic has good numbers and is class when on form.
norwaysaint Posted 17 October, 2015 Share Posted 17 October, 2015 Yes, I have to admit I had written off Tadic as not being the player he at first seemed, when he was so poor for two thirds of last season, but now he really seems to have gone back to the form that we loved early last season. doddisalegend Posted 17 October, 2015 Share Posted 17 October, 2015 I think Tadic is an excellent player never understood the grief he gets. Its well documented that he played a large part of last season with a groin injury which held him back. Yet despite that he played on often in a lot of pain. There was a good article on him in one of the early match day magazines this season. Apparently he is usually the last player of the training ground staying behind to practice after the other players have hit the showers. He also incurred Koeman's wrath last season when he turned up at Staplewood to train on a players day off. By all accounts he is a very dedicated player who is his own worst critic. doddisalegend Posted 17 October, 2015 Share Posted 17 October, 2015 Going back to the OP surely it is Mane keeping Jrod out of the team? Pelle - Lambert Tadic - Judas Mane - Jrod

Pelle - Lambert Tadic - Lallana Mane - Jrod In 2013/14 - Rodriguez was on the left, Lambert central, Lallana right In 2014/15 - Rodriguez injured for entire season In 2015/16 - Tadic is on the left left, Pelle central, Mane right
doddisalegend Posted 17 October, 2015 Share Posted 17 October, 2015 JRod used to play on the left. Tadic has effectively assumed his position. Which is fine except Judas and jrod used to swap about and Mane and Tadic have, and can, play on both sides. Jrod just isn't comparable in style to Tadic as a player but is much more like Mane in playing style ( ie pace and direct running) same for Tadic like Judas he is a player for the tricks and creating stuff. IMO of course.
sadoldgit Posted 17 October, 2015 Share Posted 17 October, 2015 Tadic was playing with an injury which clearly affected his performance. Fit again and playing well again.

IMO of course. Well, yeah, but it's kinda irrelevant as Jay plays on the left regardless. The composition of the player isn't really a factor, if Jay intends to play on the left, I.e. he has to dislodge Tadic to play left. If he wants to play center or right, then Mane/Davis. Leicestersaint Posted 17 October, 2015 Share Posted 17 October, 2015 Today JayRod looked in great need of game time - and more fitness. He was blowing like a steam train.

Saint Charlie Posted 18 October, 2015 Share Posted 18 October, 2015 When he was class he was effectively playing up front with Lambert and RL was the one who dropped wide at times to create the space for him. For us now he is basically playing as a wide midfielder and that isnt his game. He needs to be running in behind.

Hamwic Posted 18 October, 2015 Share Posted 18 October, 2015 I think it is more the case that Jay is keeping Jay out of the side at the moment. His form since he came back has been quite poor and he looks short of fitness. Given time he will regain fitness, form and confidence.
david in sweden Posted 18 October, 2015 Share Posted 18 October, 2015 we all want to see Jay come back, but although fit he's still nowhere near the level he had before injury. At the moment, Tadic presents more of an attacking threat than Jay does. Let's see Jay playing in the upcoming Capital Cup game ...and hopefully more to come after that. The more goals he gets, the more his confidence will rise. Tadic does fade in and out of games, although he seems to tire before 90 mins, but HDAJFU ....and does it well. Batman Posted 18 October, 2015 Share Posted 18 October, 2015 good suggestion, but if we play both of them .....who would you drop? well, tadic came off yesterday, pelle was being pretty well looked after, maybe change it up a bit Jrod wont be here much longer if he is stuck out wide
david in sweden Posted 19 October, 2015 Share Posted 19 October, 2015 well, tadic came off yesterday, pelle was being pretty well looked after, maybe change it up a bit Jrod wont be here much longer if he is stuck out wide Agree with that, but there is no like-for-like subbing (unless it's JayRod for Pelle)....as the current front men all have different styles of play. doddisalegend Posted 20 October, 2015 Share Posted 20 October, 2015 Play a front 3 of jrod, pelle and mane. Wanyama and Romeu anchoring, and Tadic linking play in between Tadic really doesn't work well in behind the forwards also we lose our first line of defence in Steven Davis. Its well documented that he played a large part of last season with a groin injury which held him back. Yet despite that he played on often in a lot of pain. Agreed. I love Tadic, he is a joy to watch. I hope he stays forever at the club. Even when not in his best form he can create something, and that's vital when you don't play with a classic no 10/playmaker. -- I see Jay as a replacement for Pelle. To me, he is clearly more of a striker than a winger.
VectisSaint Posted 22 October, 2015 Share Posted 22 October, 2015 Tadic really doesn't work well in behind the forwards also we lose our first line of defence in Steven Davis. Correct, we found out against Everton what Tadic can do for us in this role. leaving Davis out exposes us because the energy, link-up play and pace is lost. Peronally would stick with front three of Tadic, Pelle and Mane, with the option to being JRod on as sub again. Think we will see midfield three of Vic, Clasie and Davis. The9 Posted 23 October, 2015 Share Posted 23 October, 2015 In 2013/14 - Rodriguez was on the left, Lambert central, Lallana right In 2014/15 - Rodriguez injured for entire season In 2015/16 - Tadic is on the left left, Pelle central, Mane right Oh God, this 4-3-3 bo11ocks again. 4 attacking players, including the AM. 4-2-3-1. STILL. All the time.
