It all gets obfuscated with Euros and Sterling (and when we signed him the rate wasn't great and by the time instalments came along it had improved) by 15% or so. Targets obviously weren't met so they wouldn't have kicked in etc. Wages, that's where the real damage came but.... If one goes to http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-southampton/transferrekorde/verein/180 it paints a different picture. No idea how they get their info and a lot of people dismiss them anyway. Some of the press did mention that VVD was our record signing and that is what transfermarkt state as well. VVD @ £10.99 Gaston @ £10.64 Osvaldo @ £10.57 Mané @ £10.50 Long @ £10.43 Not sure I actually go with this, but I suspect that their figures do not include agents' fees and signing on bonuses etc so it comes back to who really knows?? I don't get overly hung up on it.
