Ha, thanks for Sharing that. It's easy to forget how many goals he did score for us especially 91/92. That era, pre Branfoot, was quality and I genuinely think some of those players would have been even better in the modern game...Rod Wallace especially. Shearer a goal against Spurs was top class.

Was lucky enough to see all of his career at saints. Great player and like the poster before said, that Nicholl side was a thing of beauty, basically four up front and ripping some damn good sides to pieces (Liverpool 4-1 anyone?).

Outside of the promotion years I'd say it was my favourite trike supporting saints. Shearer, le tiss, Wallace, Wallace, Timmy, Jimmy case, Armstrong etc.

Plus the dell was still terraced (and cheap).

Started watching Saints when we had Shearer, Wallace & Le Tiss up front but unfortunately I was too young to really remember them. One of my earliest memories is the Pink (think it might have just been the 'Football Echo' then) running through the candidates to replace Chris Nicholl. My Dad wanted Ivan Golac who was his favourite player, but we ended up with someone called Branfoot...
