angelman Posted 14 October, 2015 Posted 14 October, 2015 See on the web that Sunderland might be wanting him as Fat Sam's nº2. He was with him at Bolton, so..... Would that be a great loss if he did go? Would he go?
The9 Posted 14 October, 2015 Posted 14 October, 2015 The question being asked here is "what does he do" isn't it? I can vouch for his role as a rapid bench-evacuating clapping joyful celebrator, but we don't really see the other stuff do we?
beatlesaint Posted 14 October, 2015 Posted 14 October, 2015 See on the web that Sunderland might be wanting him as Fat Sam's nº2. He was with him at Bolton, so..... Would that be a great loss if he did go? Would he go? Sam has been plenty of places without him since the Bolton days. Leave a good job with a great manager and a club going in the right direction for a dinasour of a manger at a club that is in turmoil ? Tough call that :-)
angelman Posted 14 October, 2015 Author Posted 14 October, 2015 Ah ha....I see it's from the Mail. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3270763/Sam-Allardyce-lines-Peter-Reid-new-assistant-manager-Sunderland.html So by my reckoning, we are losing our manager to Holland, and now one of the head coaches.
ErwinK1961 Posted 14 October, 2015 Posted 14 October, 2015 Didn't Ron say that he lets Sammy do the team talk before they head out? And that he didn't really understand what he was saying, other than the swear words?
Mr Biscuits Posted 14 October, 2015 Posted 14 October, 2015 Click bait non new story from the daily fail? I won't even bother clicking on it. Surely there's going to be a point where someone at the club gets fed up and actually does something about the very clear media campaign against us, constantly linking our players and staff with moves away
Dellman Posted 14 October, 2015 Posted 14 October, 2015 If he goes to Sunderland, maybe it will be the best of their players instead of ours who end up with Liverpool

buctootim Posted 14 October, 2015 Posted 14 October, 2015 I heard at Liverpool his nickname was BBC. Bibs, balls and cones. course you did
SuperSAINT Posted 14 October, 2015 Posted 14 October, 2015 Brendan Rodgers can come in and replace him. He'd love it.
DT Posted 14 October, 2015 Posted 14 October, 2015 Saw a bit on telly once about Sammy Lee where they locked him into an overhead locker on a plane. Have always liked him since.

Surely there's going to be a point where someone at the club gets fed up and actually does something about the very clear media campaign against us, constantly linking our players and staff with moves away And also publishing articles praising ex-managers for the role that they have played in getting so many existing and ex-Southampton players into the England national team, as well as continuing the process with his new charges at Spurs. Naturally we are talking that genius manager at getting the most out of players on a shoestring, Pochettino. Annoying that they also seem to credit him in that list with Lambert and Lallana, who were playing for us long before he arrived, but of course it was he who brought them up to the necessary standard to don the England shirt. I suppose though that we should be grateful that the Daily Fail didn't go overboard and widen the scope of his abilities to include those here under him who went on to play with other National teams, like Fonte and Davis.

Patrick Bateman Posted 14 October, 2015 Posted 14 October, 2015 course you did Why would he make that up?? "Lee must shake off the old tag of "BBC'' - being responsible for Balls, Bibs and Cones. "I know I am coming from assistant, from that 'good cop, bad cop' thing, but the buck stops with me now. I have to change players' perception of me. And other people's. But when people say I look like 'a page-boy at a rather tough wedding', I don't mind!" http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/columnists/henrywinter/2318712/Ex-apprentice-Sammy-Lee-fired-up-at-Bolton.html

Why ignore the fact that he managed at Bolton, went back to Liverpool as Assistant Manager and was trusted enough to be caretaker manager there? I dont get the point of putting down a part of the club's recent success without any kind of reason. Weird huh? Edited 14 October, 2015 by buctootim
Saint Charlie Posted 14 October, 2015 Posted 14 October, 2015 Be a shame to lose him if so, as the coaching setup is obviously working well and the mix of characters is important.
sadoldgit Posted 14 October, 2015 Posted 14 October, 2015 I see Brian Kidd is still sitting on the bench as Sammy does. I am sure the club find more for them to do than BBC.
Saint Billy Posted 14 October, 2015 Posted 14 October, 2015 Hope he does not get tempted away, he seems to be a great motivator which is essential. As much as I like Ronalds management I cannot imagine him being very expressive in his moral boosting speeches, might be wrong but I suspect that is left to Sammy.
Mr Biscuits Posted 14 October, 2015 Posted 14 October, 2015 True story: I used to work with a bloke who was called Sam after Sammy Lee. He was a massive plastic Liverpool fan and used to enjoy winding me up about how they were going to take all our best players. I didn't hesitate to ask if he was going to switch allegiance the day Sammy came to work for Saints. Plus the last three seasons have been hilarious fun.
explorer saint Posted 15 October, 2015 Posted 15 October, 2015 Don't forget Sammy used play for saints too. Remember he was sub one time and I was sat under west stand . He came out do some warm ups bent over and the pitch disappeared due size of his posteria .. Shame see him go seems likeable character bit like Dennis Rofe .
The Cat Posted 15 October, 2015 Posted 15 October, 2015 course you did Yes, I did. Whether it was true or not I didn't know, which is why I put "I heard" rather than stating it as fact. In any case it's a mildly amusing nickname which I thought may be of some interest to some fellow fans.
Black Sea Saint Posted 15 October, 2015 Posted 15 October, 2015 The Guardian Football Weekly podcast suggested that Phil Brown was favourite to be Big Sam's no. 2
Fabrice29 Posted 15 October, 2015 Posted 15 October, 2015 Apparently Phil Brown has turned it down. Neil MacDonald won't turn it down if he's offered it though.
stockportsaint Posted 15 October, 2015 Posted 15 October, 2015 Doubt Big Sam will be there long if this is to be believed: notBigSam – @TheBig_Sam The shrooms are starting to wear off. Why the f&@? am I in Sunderland?
angelman Posted 15 October, 2015 Author Posted 15 October, 2015 Sorry, but you've lost me. What are we supposed to believe in?
stockportsaint Posted 15 October, 2015 Posted 15 October, 2015 It's a spoof Big Sam account on Twitter, Consistently hilarious. Not to be taken seriously.
CB Fry Posted 15 October, 2015 Posted 15 October, 2015 It's a spoof Big Sam account on Twitter, Consistently hilarious. Not to be taken seriously. I looked at it once. Pitifully unfunny.
Patrick Bateman Posted 16 October, 2015 Posted 16 October, 2015 I looked at it once. Pitifully unfunny. Which, Twitter or the Sam account? Both are pointless.
Fan The Flames Posted 16 October, 2015 Posted 16 October, 2015 The question being asked here is "what does he do" isn't it? I can vouch for his role as a rapid bench-evacuating clapping joyful celebrator, but we don't really see the other stuff do we? You don't know what he does or doesn't do.
SuperSAINT Posted 22 October, 2015 Posted 22 October, 2015 Paul Bracewell has been confirmed as Sam's assistant.
Andy Durman Posted 23 October, 2015 Posted 23 October, 2015 There was no chance Sammy leaving, but don't under estimate what he brings to Saints
