But we beat Arsenal 4-0, so partly why we are in fact, in the mix, for the title race/top 6 finish because we beat a team who are currently in first place.

It's stupid to isolate one result and use it to show we're 'heading towards a relegation scrap'

No it isn't. That is why I said partly. Along with the 6 defeats. It woulb rank stupidity to suggest we are heading for top 6 but there if you want to believe that is possible despite all of the evidence thats down to you.

I don't think we will get top 6 but I also think it's highly unlikely to think we will get relegated. We're a midtable side this season in midtable.

Jason McCarthy has been named the League One PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for January. The right back has enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Walsall so far this campaign, with January being his best month yet.

McCarthy netted three goals in four games last month, including an impressive late brace in a 3-3 draw away at Bury.

As mentioned before, my cousins support Bury wasn't until our usual Saturday night post match texts that they realised that it was one of ours that spoilt their afternoon with his 2 late goals for Walsall, they did note that he was probably the best player on the pitch for Walsall regardless of the 2 goals.

Its good to see some of our lads having a good run out playing 1st team football, regardless of the league it is in. We all know that its not the same as the Premier League where there is a bit more finesse, but we all know its a bit more agricultural from the contact point of view, at least they are getting toughened up. You just hope it all translates into the first team for Saints. Personally I think the time Jack Stephens has under his belt from Swindon has served him well playing 1st team for us, its a shame that someone as slight as young Isgrove who shone at Barnsley (?) last season looks like a fish up a tree when he takes to the pitch for Saints.

His contract is up in the summer, says he doesn't know what will happen

He's had a very good season for them. A move there in the summer would make sense if we are going to release him.

Says he sees himself more as a right-back now.

POTY for the last two seasons at different clubs stepping up the leagues.

Wonder if we'll offer him a new contract, or how closely we've actually been monitoring his progress whilst away.

I think he will go. Seems a shame when he's done so well.

He should get a decent career for himself though. Pleased for him.

Think you're probably right which is indeed a shame. If we were tosign a young full back for say £500,000 from L1 having been a player of the season for his club two years on the trot we'd no doubt be full of it, signing a great prospect.

That's Kelvin's job isn't it?
