Singapore Saint Posted 12 October, 2015 Share Posted 12 October, 2015 Dear old Michael Owen has always had a soft spot for Saints. Interesting he didn't say I am West Ham/Crystal Palace/Swansea in racehorse owning terms, but SOUTHAMPTON. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/horse-racing/michael-owen-believes-hell-never-6612151 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3268299/Michael-Owen-says-Southampton-horse-racing-m-never-going-compete-hope.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490

Pastor Patrón Posted 12 October, 2015 Share Posted 12 October, 2015 His description would've fitted Liverpool just as well. Patronising little ballbag.
Saint Charlie Posted 12 October, 2015 Share Posted 12 October, 2015 He said Southampton as a compliment because we compete whereas WH, Palace etc havent yet. Pretty accurate summary from Owen.
VectisSaint Posted 12 October, 2015 Share Posted 12 October, 2015 We don't need (want) him to be the Southampton of horse racing. We already have one who is better, been at it for many more years than Michael ****ing Owen, and Southampton related, thank you.

Saint Charlie Posted 12 October, 2015 Share Posted 12 October, 2015 Soft spot? The comment is insulting and patronizing if you ask me. How so? He is specifically praising Saints for being able to compete without the top resources. Which is what we have done to an extent the last few years. ericofarabia Posted 12 October, 2015 Share Posted 12 October, 2015 I dont think he's being demeaning I have heard he has a bit of a soft spot for us after his standing ovation on his last game !? After supposedly signing for us and buying a house in Winchester for 3 years in a row towards the end of his career, it's the least he could say!!!
