Fitzhugh Fella Posted 17 December, 2017 Share Posted 17 December, 2017 On the wing? Or striker? Upfront in the middle for the first time. There has been a bit of a debate about it among Birmingham fans. Sam is happy to play anywhere but I think he relished the role he had centre up top yesterday. SuperSAINT Posted 6 January, 2018 Share Posted 6 January, 2018 Glad he's back. Careers can easily go wrong with a poor move and loss of confidence. Needs a proper chance with us at some point. People will probably demand a big signing in the championship too but we'd be made not to play Gallagher. Get decent players around him. Personally I'd get far more excitement seeing us playing Hesketh, Sims and Gallagher in attack than our current mess. Turning it around at Brum will do wonders for his confidence too. Sort of agree with this but, in reality, if the introduction of these 3 Youth team players didn't improve things the young lads would be criticised in the same way as the current mob
SuperSAINT Posted 6 January, 2018 Share Posted 6 January, 2018 From the Birmingham Mail: GALLAGHER 8 Tough job battling three centre halves but won plenty of flicks-on in the first half. Much more lively in the second, started and finished his fourth in five games. Really blossoming.

James Posted 20 January, 2018 Share Posted 20 January, 2018 I reckon he’ll come into the first team next season and we’ll offload Austin. If we offload Austin and retain Shane Long that will be absolute madness. If we go down and Austin is willing to stay we should do all in our power to keep him. Would be our best hope of bouncing straight back.

If we go down and Austin is willing to stay we should do all in our power to keep him. Would be our best hope of bouncing straight back. Not when he’s always injured. If he were to stay fit then by all means keep him. But he’s no use to us if he’s on the treatment table and on big wages.
James Posted 20 January, 2018 Share Posted 20 January, 2018 If we go down, would be delighted to keep either of them. Keep whoever we can. We'd be losing 90% of the squad, we'd have enough money to keep anyone we could convince. Long, Austin, Gallagher as options up front would be brilliant for that league. Long wouldn’t, the man doesn’t know how to score. Would be more than happy if we shipped him out regardless of the league we are in. Stealing a living as a striker. Matthew Le God Posted 20 January, 2018 Share Posted 20 January, 2018 Apparently simple tap in after a defensive error Easy to dismiss things as "simple tap ins", but it is a skill in its own right to be in the right place at the right time to score such goals. Fabrice29 Posted 22 January, 2018 Share Posted 22 January, 2018 He's out there getting much needed experience and he'll be all the better for it. Topcat Posted 22 January, 2018 Share Posted 22 January, 2018 What we lack are in form strikers on the pitch now. We are in a desperate situation and need in form strikers and options and need them now. Getting him back would increase the options and that is on top of at least one new striker signing. tajjuk Posted 25 January, 2018 Share Posted 25 January, 2018 Hopefully he can go on and get double figures again this season, and we get him into the squad next year. A 6' 4" striker with pace (according to that article) is a rare commodity, seems more like it's the mental side of his game that needs more work (positioning, putting himself about etc.)

The club loved that so they didn't have to buy another forward, which in turn came back and bit us. We need someone who can do the job now
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 26 January, 2018 Share Posted 26 January, 2018 Sam Gallagher will be great for us one day. Maybe when he turns 30 and has 'enough experience' and has got his first 300 league goals in the bag.
BotleySaint Posted 30 January, 2018 Share Posted 30 January, 2018 He's at very least a good championship striker. Hasn't even played in a decent team at that level either. Excellent. If there is ever a good time to get relegated.. well at least have some decent options in the youth team to fall back on if they stay with us. Gallagher, Sims etc.
BotleySaint Posted 30 January, 2018 Share Posted 30 January, 2018 Just wait, Gallagher will get a decent amount by May, we'll go down, some promoted club will then buy him and he'll start doing well in the premier league. Hence my "if they stay with us" Would be typical.
Bad Wolf Posted 31 January, 2018 Share Posted 31 January, 2018 My flatmate is a Birmingham fan and he said apparently they made an approach to sign him permanently earlier in the window and were told where to go as he's still in our long-term plans. Planning for the Championship or do they still think he's capable of being a PL striker?
Bad Wolf Posted 31 January, 2018 Share Posted 31 January, 2018 He will be capable. Look at the strikers in this league, not just here. Most don't score many, lot of hard workers, hold up players, target men. Gallagher could definitely do a job already, but hopefully he'll be able to reach greater heights than that. I'm sure he'll match his goal tally for last season, both for really poor sides. Think if he was in a top 6 side in that league he'd be heading towards 20 goals. Why are the only sides that go in for him, poor?

The Blues boss has started to get the best from the youngster since his appointment, with the 22-year-old doubling his league tally with three goals in January. RobM Posted 7 February, 2018 Share Posted 7 February, 2018 For Gallagher to be a success for us in the Prem, he'd need a run of games to get used to the league, style of play and the players around him. He won't get that if he doesn't perform straight away (in fact, based on MoPe's tendencies, he won't get it even if he does perform well). Therefore, he won't get used to the league and become a success. It'll be a pointless circle, IMO. If he moves elsewhere, even to another Prem club, it'll be because they want him and are willing to play him, so he'll get the chance he needs to adapt and perform.
