Fitzhugh Fella Posted 13 December, 2016 Posted 13 December, 2016 Make that a double, although they lost. Great finish for his second.
LGTL Posted 13 December, 2016 Posted 13 December, 2016 Must say I was skeptical, but he is scoring plenty for a pretty rank team.
sfc4prem Posted 13 December, 2016 Posted 13 December, 2016 Looking forward to having him in the squad after his loan spell. Will be like having a new promising young Championship striker.
saint77 Posted 13 December, 2016 Posted 13 December, 2016 Great to see but lets leave him there for the full season will do him the world of good not the answer just yet
suewhistle Posted 13 December, 2016 Posted 13 December, 2016 2? Ah, I didn't hear the final details. I agree he should stay there, he's getting the hours on his log book and building up confidence.
a1ex2001 Posted 14 December, 2016 Posted 14 December, 2016 Have we offered him a new contract yet? If he maintains this form the list of clubs sniffing about will surely be increasing fast!
DuncanRG Posted 14 December, 2016 Posted 14 December, 2016 Glad we're not overreacting to his good form. I'll be delighted to welcome him back to the squad and see him given opportunities but he's unlikely to be the answer to the first team's striking problems.
Baird of the land Posted 14 December, 2016 Posted 14 December, 2016 Without Austin's injury it would be obvious to leave him where he is. However if we think we need more options up front in Jan it would make more sense to bring him back rather than buy someone likely overpriced in January who would just be an obstacle to his first team opportunities anyway.
benjii Posted 14 December, 2016 Posted 14 December, 2016 If there is someone we can buy who is a genuine upgrade on Long, Austin and Jay Rod and is well suited to the style Puel wants then, great, let's buy them if we can. If not, I would be happy to see him given a chance. A lot of forward play is about confidence and he will be full of confidence. If we need numbers, I'd rather it was Gallagher than someone signed purely to make up the numbers. We aren't going to get a return on Austin, Long or Jay Rod so we do need to be a bit careful about our next striker move or we're going to be throwing a lot of the wage budget down the well.
DuncanRG Posted 14 December, 2016 Posted 14 December, 2016 Who can say what is likely and unlikely in football these days though? There's only one way to find out. Equally, there's only one way to find out once and for all whether Anne Widdecombe would do a job up front. We all assess things based on what's in front of us! I wonder how many goals Long would score for Blackburn in the Championship.

OldNick Posted 14 December, 2016 Posted 14 December, 2016 Who can say what is likely and unlikely in football these days though? There's only one way to find out. well if you bring Gallagher back and he fails to make the step up, that could leave us with a forward line that cant score for toffee. Dangerous game to play, especially if the defence starts to leak goals
doddisalegend Posted 14 December, 2016 Posted 14 December, 2016 well if you bring Gallagher back and he fails to make the step up, that could leave us with a forward line that cant score for toffee. OldNick Posted 14 December, 2016 Posted 14 December, 2016 doesn't that apply to anyone we bring in?yes, but there are different risk strategies. Gallagher is future talent that needs to gain experience before being under the pressure of the PL. Its a harder position to establish yourself in, probably the hardest. Personally Sims brilliant start is fantastic but we have to make sure he is gradually brought through, he could easily become a one match wonder

SW5 SAINT Posted 14 December, 2016 Posted 14 December, 2016 well if you bring Gallagher back and he fails to make the step up, that could leave us with a forward line that cant score for toffee. Dangerous game to play, especially if the defence starts to leak goals We could also not bring him back, and still have a forward line that doesn't score for toffee. He is probably just the sort of striker we would be looking to sign in January anyway, if he wasn't ours already.
SuperSAINT Posted 14 December, 2016 Posted 14 December, 2016 Sam McQueen doesn't seem to have struggled with the pressure I'm all for bringing in academy boys in to the first team. True, but Sam would argue his stint at Southend did him the world of good.
simo Posted 14 December, 2016 Posted 14 December, 2016 I can't see us paying out for anyone so it'll either be a loan , Sam or no one Imo! Personally I'd like Sam to stay where he is until the summer as you can't underestimate the importance a season of scoring regularly against men in a tough league for his confidence and form next season !
derry Posted 14 December, 2016 Posted 14 December, 2016 It's not a case of bringing Gallagher back. It's more about why on earth would we bring the lad back to face the higher standard defences in the Premier with the team playing such defensive negative dross. It might ruin all the good work he is doing. Leave him where he is. Better still get Puel to change the way he has the team playing more Everton and second half Middlesborough than meaningless possession statistics. Goals win matches.

Yes but by not letting in many goals you dont have to score that many to win

I would leave him at Blackburn where he is positively thriving with a manager who rates him but if we can't get anyone else then I might think again

We have the option IF we can't get anyone else.
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 14 December, 2016 Posted 14 December, 2016 Watched him against Preston on Saturday and thought he looked average. Needs more time at that level. Certainly not ready for life in the Premiership just yet.
Plastic Posted 14 December, 2016 Posted 14 December, 2016 Quite tall isn't he? Type of thing we need isn't it? Tall? Scores goals?
SuperSAINT Posted 14 December, 2016 Posted 14 December, 2016 Quite tall isn't he? Type of thing we need isn't it? Tall? Scores goals? He's mobile too, for a big lad.
OldNick Posted 15 December, 2016 Posted 15 December, 2016 Sam McQueen doesn't seem to have struggled with the pressure I'm all for bringing in academy boys in to the first team. yes but a full back is not quite the main attacking threat. Taking I love seeing our lads develop in the PL is just what the owners will love. Not having to buy and the fans taking it. When Gallagher has developed then put him in, Kane spent a long time learning his trade at other clubs before he was pushed into the major responsbility of being the main target man
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 26 January, 2017 Posted 26 January, 2017 Good to see Sam there last night http://www.rovers.co.uk//news/article/2016-17/sam-gallagher-blackburn-rovers-blackpool-3539208.aspx

Greedyfly Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 10th of the season for him today, header against Blackpool
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 5 February, 2017 Posted 5 February, 2017 scored the winner yesterday. Goal nos 11 bit concerned to see the press are reporting he is running his contract down and Saints haven't offered him a new one yet https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/2786920/the-boss-of-goss-leeds-line-up-raid-for-liverpool-whizzkid-and-andy-robertson-to-quit-hull/ I know its only the Sun but even so hope the club haven't taken their eye off the ball
Saint Garrett Posted 5 February, 2017 Posted 5 February, 2017 Alan Nixon reckons Sunderland want him big time, not mattering which league they're in next season.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 5 February, 2017 Posted 5 February, 2017 Needs a new deal and quick! I think someone needs to tell that to Les Reed

Badger Posted 5 February, 2017 Posted 5 February, 2017 I think someone needs to tell that to Les Reed Really can`t imagine this happening..... Don't worry chaps, bound to be a reassuring youtube video from Uncle Les at the end of the season telling us everything is under control.
Katalinic Posted 5 February, 2017 Posted 5 February, 2017 I think someone needs to tell that to Les Reed On the basis I am assuming your are probably ITK on this I find it very surprising we haven't offered new terms.
SuperSAINT Posted 5 February, 2017 Posted 5 February, 2017 I think someone needs to tell that to Les Reed Only we could be so inept as to give him a good season of experience in the championship, then get relegated ourselves and not tied him down to a new deal.
Dalek2003 Posted 5 February, 2017 Posted 5 February, 2017 Well I am sure if he goes Les has someone lined up to take his place ....

I would suspect that it is agents trying to get a better deal on the table.
saintant Posted 5 February, 2017 Posted 5 February, 2017 We need the G-men up front next season, Gabbiadini and Gallagher. Think they'd score a few between them.
SuperSAINT Posted 14 February, 2017 Posted 14 February, 2017 Gallagher stretchered off tonight Bad tackle apparently.
beatlesaint Posted 14 February, 2017 Posted 14 February, 2017 Bad tackle apparently. hope it's not season ending for him, he's been developing really well this season.
NI Saint Posted 14 February, 2017 Posted 14 February, 2017 Gash across his knee and has had 12 stitches according to the Rovers Twitter feed.
