adethorne Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 Ireland fans were singing this laast night: You are my Davis, My Stevie Davis, You make me happy, When skies are grey, So f**k your Lampard, And Stevie Gerrard, Please don't take, My Davis away!

Batman Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 absolutely fantastic stuff from him. great week for him, one he will never forget. also, made up for N. Ireland. Incredible achievement to qualify and with a massive shout of topping thr group. they have a team that does not have the luxury of a Gareth Bale or Aaron Ramsey....
Toadhall Saint Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 absolutely fantastic stuff from him. great week for him, one he will never forget. also, made up for N. Ireland. positivepete Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 (edited) It will be more interesting following them in France than England. There will be great atmospheres at the games and around the grounds. Ps. Nearly forgot. Well done Steve. Interesting to see how many he scores this season now. Edited 9 October, 2015 by positivepete
sadoldgit Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 The second goal was pure quality. Glad to see Davis getting some of the limelight now after all of his hard work.
the saint in winchester Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 Steven Davis, Southampton's Goal Machine!!! That wipes the sneer off those of us (although not me) that said Davis and JWP carry no attacking threat! He's in the groove now, and could get 10 goals this season?!
Lighthouse Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 Steven Davis, Southampton's Goal Machine!!! That wipes the sneer off those of us (although not me) that said Davis and JWP carry no attacking threat! He's in the groove now, and could get 10 goals this season?! Erm... no.
Lets B Avenue Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 IMO he is the most underrated international player going.
JackanorySFC Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 Ireland fans were singing this laast night: You are my Davis, My Stevie Davis, You make me happy, When skies are grey, So f**k your Lampard, And Stevie Gerrard, Please don't take, My Davis away! The chaps I know from Belfast would NOT describe themselves at Ireland fans. They will take ****ing loads to France... Up the Ulster!
eelpie Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 Steve Davis is for me Saints most improved player so far this season.
benjii Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 I'm actually quite tempted by a trip to France next summer. With N Ireland, Wales, possibly Rep Ireland and England out there and it being ****-easy to get to it could be a right laugh. I'm glad these countries are qualifying. The Republic provided great entertainment at Italia 90 and USA 94. I went to a match at Sampdoria's stadium a few years ago and I vividly recalled watching the ROI / Romania pelanty shoutout there on the box when I was a kid.
kjurwi Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 Steven Davis, Southampton's Goal Machine!!! That wipes the sneer off those of us (although not me) that said Davis and JWP carry no attacking threat! He's in the groove now, and could get 10 goals this season?! I'm very happy that Davis finally scored a couple of goals, and i hope that he will score alot more. If he scores more than 5 this season it'll be fantastic. He will probably score two more this season.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 I heard this last night whilst watching the game. He needs something different rather than that pathetic " Steve Davis/Kelvin one.
VectisSaint Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 I'm very happy that Davis finally scored a couple of goals, and i hope that he will score alot more. If he scores more than 5 this season it'll be fantastic. He will probably score two more this season. Scoring a couple more this season will be nice, but probably won't change much in terms of results. I will be happier still if he continues to do what he always does and helps create goals and continues to drive us on in midfield with his energy and tackling. He may not get many official assists (because assists don't count the critical passes before the last one), but the chances he creates with his non-stop running and passing is crucial, and it is very telling that the level of our play drops off considerably when he does not start or when he is subbed off. Really pleased for Captain Fantastic this week.
saintsdan Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 The chaps I know from Belfast would NOT describe themselves at Ireland fans. They will take ****ing loads to France... Up the Ulster! Trouble is, and at risk of turning this political, they're not really that either are they?
david in sweden Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 Just need to replace Lampard and Gerrard with Morgan and Lallana, and sorted fun! 'though that bit might be difficult ....he never did qualify for England - did he ?
david in sweden Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 Steve Davis is for me Saints most improved player so far this season. apart from NOT scoring for some time, I think he's been fairly consistant for quite a while, but a lot of people just haven't noticed.....
Toomer Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 Ireland fans were singing this laast night: You are my Davis, My Stevie Davis, You make me happy, When skies are grey, So f**k your Lampard, And Stevie Gerrard, Please don't take, My Davis away! So **** your Rooney and Lallana But please don't take my Davis away
bazza Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 He was great last night. I see some rascal's amended the first paragraph of his Wiki page lol...https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Davis
Redslo Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 He was great last night. I see some rascal's amended the first paragraph of his Wiki page lol...https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Davis I thought it was worth posting that paragraph before it got changed back: Steven Davis (born 1 January 1985) is a Northern Irish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Premier League club Southampton and is the captain of the Northern Ireland national team. Davis is also an absolute hero who scored 2 goals against the Greeks to take Northern Ireland to their first major tournament. Cheers Steve you beautiful little man. Davis made his full international debut in 2005 and has since been capped 77 times at senior level, scoring seven goals.
Whitey Grandad Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 He was great last night. I see some rascal's amended the first paragraph of his Wiki page lol...https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Davis Seems very reasonable to me.
VectisSaint Posted 9 October, 2015 Posted 9 October, 2015 Seems very reasonable to me. Nothing wrong with it to be honest, except that it isn't their first major tournament. It needs to be amended to say first major tournament "since 1986" then it would be perfect and factually correct.
Chewy Posted 10 October, 2015 Posted 10 October, 2015 Not sure if his recent goal scoring run will continue, but how great for us that his confidence will be sky high. He must be on cloud 9 at the moment, and we will benefit for the next few months for sure. So happy for him. He might tail off in April and May as he saves himself and tries to avoid injury, but I reckon he'll be on top form for the next few weeks. Also happy for Chris Baird, an underrated ex Saint. At this stage of his career it must be fantastic to get a chance to play in a major international tournament.
kjurwi Posted 15 October, 2015 Posted 15 October, 2015 Got picked for the UEFA's all star team today.
Daft Kerplunk Posted 15 October, 2015 Posted 15 October, 2015 Amazing to think that Steve Davis is almost as good a footballer as he was a snooker player. Steven Davis should try and emulate him
Saint IQ Posted 25 January, 2016 Posted 25 January, 2016 (edited) Ireland fans were singing this laast night: You are my Davis, My Stevie Davis, You make me happy, When skies are grey, So f**k your Lampard, And Stevie Gerrard, Please don't take, My Davis away! Hoping this guy is back for the Arsenal game Tuesday, I love that song. At home to them we sang it continuously for 5-10 minutes maybe longer and it was brilliant! Think we were solid saturday but missed a ball runner from midfield, Mane can do it but not with the control this guy has and he's obviously up top. If he's back I can feel a rare goal for him coming in a 2-1 win, up the saints! Edited 25 January, 2016 by Saint IQ
Batman Posted 25 January, 2016 Posted 25 January, 2016 Just wanted to say, Steven Davis is one of the most under-rated players in the team/league
The Cat Posted 25 January, 2016 Posted 25 January, 2016 Utterly anonymous against Man Utd. I didn't even notice he was on the pitch.
