Mattio Posted 7 October, 2015 Share Posted 7 October, 2015 Don't want to see Bomo go down and don't really want to finish below 7th, otherwise happy with that.
bpsaint Posted 7 October, 2015 Share Posted 7 October, 2015 Wouldn't be too disappointed with that really, would rather Newcastle went down instead of Bompey though.
sandwichsaint Posted 7 October, 2015 Share Posted 7 October, 2015 Good to see that we are comfortably above Leicester on a weighted current-form table.
Dalek2003 Posted 7 October, 2015 Share Posted 7 October, 2015 If it was that easy to predict football, it would not be the exciting game that it is ! There will be many more twists and surprises over the course of a season.
sadoldgit Posted 7 October, 2015 Share Posted 7 October, 2015 If it were that easy to predict you could do away with games completely and let a computer predict the results each week! Who would we slag off then? The computer programmer?

Chris27687 Posted 7 October, 2015 Share Posted 7 October, 2015 Seems pretty optimistic to think wet spam are going to beat Swansea in the league. That 4th spot, which will be useless next season due to terrible European performances, is seriously up for grabs from any of the top 8/9.

You should always sense check your calculations, otherwise it is just plane embarrasing when mistakes like that get published. Interesting link though, thanks for sharing

positivepete Posted 7 October, 2015 Share Posted 7 October, 2015 Reasonable on what we know after 8 games except Swansea who I think might finish higher. Be interesting to see how much it changes after 15 games.
Dark Munster Posted 8 October, 2015 Share Posted 8 October, 2015 It surely can't just be based on the first 8 games, otherwise how would it predict Chelsea finishing 4th? They must be using last seasons results too. Or, more likely, they had a few beers, came up with a final table, and claimed their "super computer" did it. Redslo Posted 8 October, 2015 Share Posted 8 October, 2015 I am pretty sure the super computer uses lots more data that the results of the first eight games to make its prediction. It is just different from a preseason pick because it also uses the results of the first eight games. No doubt it views Chelsea as good enough to win the title based upon last year, but moves them down because their current record makes its difficult mathematically to reach first and because it suggests that they are not as good as they were. PhilippineSaint Posted 8 October, 2015 Share Posted 8 October, 2015 Looking at that table my "super computer brain" could have picked those teams at the beginning of the season based on last years results Chelsea Man City Arsenal and Man Utd as the top four and then factored in the results so far this season and moved a few teams around come up with the same thing. It will have no resemblance to the table at the end of the season you heard it here first.

It'll be this season "we are 54% likely to make the champions league" threads. Everytime the super computer predicts that we'll finish above 8th people will be exicted tapping away about how amazing it is. When we lose a they'll be in dismay at how the data used cant be accurate and is baised towards the big clubs.

The9 Posted 8 October, 2015 Share Posted 8 October, 2015 i performed the same calculations on my Commodore 64. Came out with Man City champions Saints to finish 6th, Chelsea, Sunderland and Bournemouth to get relegated Surely your C64 calculations would have Liverpool and Everton battling it out and Chelsea in the 2nd Division? Assuming you started running the programme in 1986, which would be a realistic runtime.
