Bad Wolf Posted 3 October, 2015 Posted 3 October, 2015 Which is the better feeling? Which was the bigger achievement. I'll say this one. Considering what a fortress Stamford Bridge has been during Mourinho's time there AND the fact it was by two goals AND the fact it could have been more AND the fact that we went 1-0 down. Winning at Old Trafford last season was great but I think this just about tops it.
Colinjb Posted 3 October, 2015 Posted 3 October, 2015 Winning at Man Utd. Chelsea were off form, Man Utd were stirring into life. Not taking anything away from today, was magic, we were brilliant, but that win at Old Trafford....... satisfaction.
Batman Posted 3 October, 2015 Posted 3 October, 2015 win at chelsea. it was more convincing and they are the champions
Dig Dig Posted 3 October, 2015 Posted 3 October, 2015 Both are special wins but today was more emphatic and we did it after coming from behind.
Sheff Saint Posted 3 October, 2015 Posted 3 October, 2015 This. Tonight. Man Utd was a tactical victory, and although superb, tonight we beat the champions on home soil for the first time in decades. And played then off the park. One of the best performances I've ever seen from us.
alpine_saint Posted 3 October, 2015 Posted 3 October, 2015 Tough question. Manyoo last season were a better team than Chelsea this season. But Mourinho is a c**t, they are reigning champions, and we came from behind with 3 goals.
Patrick Bateman Posted 3 October, 2015 Posted 3 October, 2015 Tough question. Manyoo last season were a better team than Chelsea this season. But Mourinho is a c**t, they are reigning champions, and we came from behind with 3 goals. This.
sadoldgit Posted 3 October, 2015 Posted 3 October, 2015 This one simply because we have shown that we have lost more players but are still a quality side.
Lighthouse Posted 3 October, 2015 Posted 3 October, 2015 Hard to say. Man Utd were playing better at the time but they also had strong points in that match and missed chances to win it themselves. Today we absolutely battered Chelsea. Only one team in it from 10 mins onward.
Colinjb Posted 3 October, 2015 Posted 3 October, 2015 Utd were awful and stuttering all season. Chelsea are champions and we destroyed them, it wasn't close in the second half, we could have scored 5 or 6. Above utd win and the sunderland win for me. I'm clearly in the minority.... But I had no expectation against Utd, thought we could get something today. That's the only reason. Loved, LOVED both.
S-Clarke Posted 3 October, 2015 Posted 3 October, 2015 We were better than Chelsea all over the pitch, won by a bigger margin, had more opportunities and were unlucky it wasn't more than 3. Today, easily.
aintforever Posted 3 October, 2015 Posted 3 October, 2015 A win at Old Trafford is always better. But this was an awesome win.
Lighthouse Posted 3 October, 2015 Posted 3 October, 2015 Last time we won away to the Champions anyone? My best guess was Blackburn but apparently not.
SaintMB Posted 3 October, 2015 Posted 3 October, 2015 Easily this. To win with relative ease, despite the referee doing his best to cheat us out of points, was a great result.
doc oli Posted 3 October, 2015 Posted 3 October, 2015 was just thinking this whilst on the toilet. Even though I was at OT, this was better as we played SO much better.
lickierambert Posted 3 October, 2015 Posted 3 October, 2015 This. Against the champions and we battered them. Last year's win at OT was good, but we were a little fortunate (Mata's three misses etc)
Plastic Posted 3 October, 2015 Posted 3 October, 2015 This, definitely this. Was more confident against manu, and this victory was more emphatic. The confidence this gives us could really help our season.
Patrick Bateman Posted 3 October, 2015 Posted 3 October, 2015 was just thinking this whilst on the toilet. Even though I was at OT, this was better as we played SO much better. I hope as you came to your conclusion, you had a really satisfying splash.
doc oli Posted 3 October, 2015 Posted 3 October, 2015 I hope as you came to your conclusion, you had a really satisfying splash. possibly the best splash I've had since August.
Whitey Grandad Posted 3 October, 2015 Posted 3 October, 2015 I hope as you came to your conclusion, you had a really satisfying splash. I did and I wasn't even sitting on a toilet I enjoyed both wins but this was more comprehensive, even if it was against a poorer team.
simo Posted 3 October, 2015 Posted 3 October, 2015 This , Totally dominated the champions at their own gaff!
SaintBobby Posted 4 October, 2015 Posted 4 October, 2015 Fair question - when did we last beat the Champions away? Ever?
LGTL Posted 4 October, 2015 Posted 4 October, 2015 Lucky to have been at both. Can't call it to be honest. 50/50. All I know is that I bloody love this club.
DuncanRG Posted 4 October, 2015 Posted 4 October, 2015 United. Well as we played, a lot of teams could have (and some have) beat this Chelsea side. That performance at Old Trafford took steel.
Kingsland Codger Posted 4 October, 2015 Posted 4 October, 2015 Fair question - when did we last beat the Champions away? Ever? Maybe a win at Liverpool in 1981? They won the League in 1981-1982 and we won at Anfield in November 1981. To add a cherry to the icing on the cake, Liverpool were also European Champions having won the European Cup in May that year. Wikipedia can be helpful. And for those who don't remember Steve Moran's late winner ... It is possible we may have achieved this since then but the above tells us it has happened at least once before yesterday evening's emphatic victory.
david in sweden Posted 4 October, 2015 Posted 4 October, 2015 the United win was a masterpiece of organised defending and snatching a scoring opportunity when it came, but for an old fan who'd suffered decades of bad luck at OT....that was very satisfying. In a frustrating first half yesterday, where the ref. denied / was cheated us out of two stone-cold penalty shouts, but the second half was some of the most controlled play I've seen in any game .. H or A ..in a long time. Forget the " ball possession stats " we were deadly on the break and Mane and Tadic tormented the aging Chelsea defence and John Terry's " dream return " was a nightmare that may signal the beginning of the end for him at Stamford Bridge. An all-round top class performance where everyone put in his shift ...and a bit more. So far, I've read /noted 4 different MoM awards from 4 different journo's .... it might easily have been more.
Kingsland Codger Posted 4 October, 2015 Posted 4 October, 2015 I may not have answered correctly above, for although Liverpool went on to become Champions that season but they weren't the Champions at the time (that was Villa). So let's try Leeds away back in March 1970. They won the league in the 1968 -1969 season and we won 3-1 at Elland Road in March 1970. That works ... I think.
Daft Kerplunk Posted 4 October, 2015 Posted 4 October, 2015 All I hope is that we get very used to these type of results
hasper57saint Posted 4 October, 2015 Posted 4 October, 2015 I said in an earlier post I had a feeling we could steal this but not for one moment did I think we'd batter them.Manure last season was satisfying, stuffing Chelski is outstanding. The Saints Fans were magnificent all the way through the game.Anyone post yet who was actually there?
View From The Top Posted 4 October, 2015 Posted 4 October, 2015 To go away to the reigning champions and to utterly destroy them as we did, despite being 1-0 down, is something special. However, I despise the Mancs immensely and living and working in Northern Staffordshire means that I'm surrounded by the plastic tossers.
ericofarabia Posted 4 October, 2015 Posted 4 October, 2015 I was at OT last season and absolutely loved that win, but the manner in which we won y'day was such a pleasure to watch, especially after the way the game seemed to be going with the ref determined to help Chelsea out at every turn with soft bookings and pen claims for us turned down. The team kept their cool and carried on and got their just reward.
Monkou Posted 4 October, 2015 Posted 4 October, 2015 Yesterday by a mile... OT was a bit of a smash and grab, yesterday we totally outplayed the current champions.
oldsarum Posted 4 October, 2015 Posted 4 October, 2015 I was there yesterday, lost my voice by the end, although came back Ok after a few post match beers Yesterday was better for me because we battered them second half and all the Chelsea fans I spoke to after game full of praise for our performance, whereas as others have said Man U was smash and grab
Wes Tender Posted 4 October, 2015 Posted 4 October, 2015 I think it will come to pass that we will ask whether the win away at Chelsea was better then the win away at Old Trafford this season. Comparing it to the away win at OT last season, I think that the Chelsea win was better, because we got off to a slower start to the season and the way that we dominated a Mourinho team at fortress Stamford Bridge has made a few sit up and take notice.
