Jan Transfer Window One Realistic Signing Who Would You Buy

Forum gold, one man comparing another man's (hypothetical) choices of players to buy and sell on a fans' forum chat site to a computer simulation game.

the OP did say "realistic"

granted it's all the realm of fantasy and speculation anyway, but my point was it's not realistic to assume the club will get rid of anyone after 5 or so months, and especially seeing as a few of those we've paid >5m for. Giving a chance to players, come hell or high water and no matter whether it's a good or bad call, is too much of a fundamental principle at the club.

Apparently we've had scouts watching El Ghazi, like a few other Premier League clubs.

He's scored 7 in 7 in the Eredivisie for Ajax this season and got an assist as well.

He's still only 20, so there is huge potential in the lad and it could be a very sharp move!

that phrase (though correct) could be applied to quite a few already on the books.

What we need is someone who can come into the side and hit the ground running, and not have to wait till the middle of next season to get a regular first team place.

Personally hope we steer clear of Austin. If we looking for like for like competition for pelle on the cheap I'd suggest lafferty on loan from Norwich.

Obviously if soares carries on struggling right back might be a priority.

Redmond is certainly someone I'd like to see at saints. Disappointed all the previous linkage to him when they were in the championship came to nothing. Would cost a fortune in January though. Best wait till the summer when hopefully they will have been relegated.

Don't worry, we bought Martina as well........

Jake Jervis from Plymouth. 24 years old Forward, 6ft 3" great athlete and pacy too. Would learn a lot from being in the squad but already has got a lot of experience at lower league level. Would cost little but if you want a big back up for Pelle but with more pace and at almost zero cost and upward potential he's possibly your man. I watched him recently and hes a better standard than the league he is in in my opinion and could play Championship right now with the right coaching and team. Certainly physically hes got everything and knows where the goals are. Someone will buy him soon and he could be big in the next 2-3 years. Perhaps that someone should be Saints, we missed out on getting Bolasie who was obviously a very good player the season we got promoted at Plymouth and he even scored that consolation goal against us impressed me on the day a lot...well this guy with the alliterative name straight out of Roy of the Rovers is their latest good 'un i reckon... ..

We don't need new buys, they will just hold back our young hopefuls, we need to get Big Vic and Mane to sign new contracts, the squad is strong enough (first time I've ever felt that)

Agreed. Unless we have a big injury (where a loan would come in useful) I don't think it's worth paying an inflated January fee. We'll have some work to do next summer though.

what do your eyes tell you?

I was surprised to see him in that list but he does get better every time I see him. RK seemed to sum it up - great going forward but defensively, Yoshida is a better option.

Incidentally, before I saw any of the new signings play Juanmi was the one that got the pulse racing. Worth watching this one as RK says he taking a while to get used to the Premier league. Still hoping he will eventually emerge as a world class player.

That he was poor against Newcastle away but set up a goal and was exposed by our tactics.

Was poor against a very good Everton side where everybody was awful and the tactics/formation was wrong.

Helped to keep a clean sheet against Watford.

Helped to keep a clean sheet against Norwich.

Helped to keep a clean sheet again WBA away.

Helped to keep a clean sheet against MK Dons away - set up a couple as well I think.

Did excellently against Montero in second half against Swansea and wasn't at fault for the goal we conceded.

I think he's fine and improving. If you do a Squawka comparison with Clyne, he's well ahead.

Arsenal's French international right back Mathieu Debuchy seems to want a move in January as he's not getting games since return from injury. Being 30 years old hi experience and age would be ideal to allow development time for younger options.
