maysie Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 That's the trouble with making an assessment based purely on the score. It was a debacle for 50 minutes (we were great for 35 minutes at the start), one of the most shockingly awful displays by Saints I have seen in nearly 50 years. Man U were awful and we let them score 3 goals from 3 on-target shots. Errrr. Okay then. Yes that was the worst display in 50 years. Our recent success has turned a section of our fans in to spoilt, whiny little brats.
Spoonman Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 Spot on. During the 90s and early 00s we were good value for at least one 5 or 6 goal pummelling each season.
Batman Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 Spot on. During the 90s and early 00s we were good value for at least one 5 or 6 goal pummelling each season. I wonder then if we had the 15th most expensive team in europe?
maysie Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 I wonder then if we had the 15th most expensive team in europe? I'm sure there is a point there, but if I'm honest I'm struggling
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 Stekelenburg, Cédric, Fonte ©, van Dijk, Bertrand, Wanyama, Ward-Prowse, S. Davis, Mané, Tadić, Pellè. Decent line-up but Davis and JWP together again...
Batman Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 (edited) Why has Bertrand become a starter all of a sudden? :S He clearly isn't fit enough yet. well, seems he is reckon he will get about an hour targett must be injured. not in the squad Stekelenburg, Cedric, Fonte, van Dijk, Bertrand, Wanyama, Ward-Prowse, S Davis, Mane, Tadic, Pelle K Davis, Yoshida, Long, Rodriguez, Romeu, Martina, Juanmi Edited 26 September, 2015 by Batman
the_emu Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 Of FFS Davis and JWP together again....really?
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 Romeu? Bench. Fabiankski, Naughton, Williams ©, Fernandez, Taylor, Cork, Ki Sung-Yueng, Shelvey, Sigurdsson, Ayew, Gomis Not much width there at all for Swansea.
simo Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 Hopefully Jwp is playing the deep role he played against Norwich
doddisalegend Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 Of FFS Davis and JWP together again....really? This why oh why.........
Donatello Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 well, seems he is reckon he will get about an hour targett must be injured. not in the squad Stekelenburg, Cedric, Fonte, van Dijk, Bertrand, Wanyama, Ward-Prowse, S Davis, Mane, Tadic, Pelle K Davis, Yoshida, Long, Rodriguez, Romeu, Martina, Juanmi I was going to comment on here that you called it, but given that you've already managed to give yourself a pat on the back, I feel somewhat sorry for you As you've said, Targett injured. No other option.
ART Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 Just sick of Koeman's lack of imagination in his team selections for game we have to win. Out of interest where is Gazzaniga vanished to? Just knew Ramirez wouldn't be on the bench. Going to be really sick if we lose today's game.
Matthew Le God Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 targett must be injured. not in the squad Why does him not being in the 18 man squad mean he is injured? We have more than 18 senior players, so some will miss out each week even if they are fit.

Matthew Le God Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 because I would suggest he is better than Martina...since he starts over him He starts over Martina as as a left back when Bertrand was injured because Targett is a natural left back and Martina isn't. However when up against each other for a place on the bench as the backup fullback that matters less and Martina is the more senior player. With Bertrand back fit Targett will probably play for the under 21s (like Reed does) to get game time.

Toadhall Saint Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 because I would suggest he is better than Martina...since he starts over him Martina can cover more defensive options - allegedly [emoji3]
Saint Charlie Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 Montero could be a factor late in the game if Bertrand can only last 60mins.
NewYorkSaint Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 I predict the anti-Davis+JWP-together meme may get spiked today. Seems to me JWP has been getting sharper, more creative, more physical last few games. And Davis adds extraordinary energy. If we want a successful high-press strategy, those two are key to it imho. Or maybe I'm just reacting to the pre-game cynicism. Personally prefer to go in excited, optimistic and as a supporter. 2-1 Saints.
supersonic Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 Need to win this one. It'll be tough, but I think we'll do it. Going for 1-0 Tadic.

NewYorkSaint Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 Davis can certainly contribute to a high less game, but JWP? He was terrific first half hour against Man U.... made the first goal.
simo Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 Davis can certainly contribute to a high less game, but JWP? I think he's at his most effective when when he's picking up the ball and playing the ball quickly when him and the team lose that high tempo everyone looks a bit flat
niceandfriendly Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 This link is working for me http://firstrowi.eu/soccer/first-southampton-fc-swansea-city-fc-row629965 but the commentator is one who says "Pether" instead of Pelle... arghhhh
Leicestersaint Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 I wonder how many goals davis and JWP will score today (hopefully they will prove me wrong).

SNSUN Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 Could go either way. Need a win though. We have the quality and are at home. I can see us getting the three points today.
badgerx16 Posted 26 September, 2015 Posted 26 September, 2015 Turn on the stream and the first thing I see is VVD scoring :-)
