egg Posted 23 September, 2015 Share Posted 23 September, 2015 Which appears to be 'up front for malaga' Correct. I was down near malaga the week before last. The malaga fans love him and think that with a run of games he'll be brilliant for us. They can't understand why he's sat on our bench.
fanimal Posted 23 September, 2015 Share Posted 23 September, 2015 Has to play JRod, Long and Juanmi against a weak MKD team surely? Otherwise what is the point of a big squad?
pluto Posted 23 September, 2015 Share Posted 23 September, 2015 Another ****e stirring article timed before a match goes out from journo scum Darren Lewis making up tosh again about Holland and Koeman. Plenty of arselicking from him towards Spurs recently !

Saint Charlie Posted 23 September, 2015 Share Posted 23 September, 2015 Very strong. Kind of suprised Mane starts but fair enough. Interesting for the second season in a row the sub keepers arent even considered good enough to even play cup games - but thats the reality! One negative - no youngsters considered good enough to even make the bench ahead of Ramirez.
Lighthouse Posted 23 September, 2015 Share Posted 23 September, 2015 Excellent team for this match IMO. Maybe half each for Mané and Tadic or even a rare glimpse of the lesser spotted Ramirez. Would be good to see half an hour for Bert as well.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 23 September, 2015 Share Posted 23 September, 2015 Indeed. You can't say we're not taking it seriously with that line up. And we should be. Very good team on paper, but if it is Shane Long up front on his own I have some concerns that he will be asked to play like Pelle. Also would it be Jay left, Juanmi middle, and Mane right? Shandy_Top_89 Posted 23 September, 2015 Share Posted 23 September, 2015 I think the lack of youth may be related to the u-21 game against Reading, although Bertrand appeared in that too. Good team, with the right players getting game time too. No Reeves in the MK Dons starting line-up, bit of a shame for him.

BARCELONASAINT Posted 23 September, 2015 Share Posted 23 September, 2015 really pleased we appear to be taking this seriously and so we should. Saint Charlie Posted 23 September, 2015 Share Posted 23 September, 2015 McQueen and Hesketh could easily have made the bench too. If they don't for these kind of games then its very hard for them to get any first team exposure really. Despite his rep for it, I can't really think of any young player Koeman has identified and brought firmly into the first team fold with clear faith and trust. I guess though, ultimately a Manager is judged on results, can't blame him for putting out the best team he can. Many Spurs fans having seen their team tonight will wish MP had RK's attitude to the Cup!
washsaint Posted 23 September, 2015 Share Posted 23 September, 2015 It's very disappointing to see our younger players being totally overlooked. At least Pochettino had no fear about blooding young players: Koeman does not seem to rate our younguns. Pathway to the first team looks well and truly blocked right now. Suhari Posted 23 September, 2015 Share Posted 23 September, 2015 Very pleased with that line up. What should be our first choice back line - giving them a chance to get used to one another; plus the (current) backup forwards getting a chance to stake a claim. 4-0 win. But must be space for even one U21 player to give them experience and give the others something to work for. Especially for a club whose apparent USP is the Academy. I'm glad we are playing such a strong side. This is one of two competitions we could win, the whole point of football is winning, so why not put out a strong side? Are any of the youngsters better than those on the bench? Probably not. They have to really earn their place not just get a free game in a cup. If we want to grow as a club, we will need a bigger squad, which will lead to more competition generally, and not just for those youngsters. Targett has proved it is possible to start, hopefully it will inspire the youngsters to work harder to get in the match day squad. We are going to get injuries sooner or later and we'll see some of them on the bench then
