Saint Benali Posted 15 September, 2015 Share Posted 15 September, 2015 Squawka use the official pl opta stats..... Where does the data come from? We take our data from Opta, the providers of the most comprehensive football database on the planet. We then process this data to provide our users with action views of what is actually happening on the pitch. How regularly is the data updated during a game? Opta send us data in every break in play – goals, fouls, throw-ins, goal kicks etc. This is approximately an average of every 40 seconds. We then crunch the data and send it out to you across all our tools in real-time Read more at http://www.squawka.com/frequently-asked-questions Don't think you will find any more accurate stats then opta

We didn't, I don't care where the stats are from, we did not create 14 chances in that game. If we had done, we'd all be on here talking about poor finishing and wastefulness, whereas everyone is actually talking about a lack of creativity

eelpie Posted 15 September, 2015 Share Posted 15 September, 2015 It is only a matter of time until he adds to his work rate and passing accuracy by scoring (as he can do) in a Premiership match. When he does, Kaiser Sozlled and other will rate him differently.

Pancake Posted 15 September, 2015 Share Posted 15 September, 2015 I have to say, that's not at all bad. ~13km run in 90 mins whilst playing the ball, covering people and fast direction changes. Impressive States to be honest. But. Doesn't mean he actually did anything during all that running. Personally I like him, but he does need to start chipping in with assists and goals or he will be out on his ear.

It was 15. 15 shots, 4 on target. Plus 5 corners. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34160768
The9 Posted 15 September, 2015 Share Posted 15 September, 2015 Once you've read all the comments here, go back and look for the Morgan Schneiderlin thread from 5 years ago. Uncannily similar! That's also what I was thinking earlier...

The9 Posted 15 September, 2015 Share Posted 15 September, 2015 (edited) Oh wow. Is that seriously how these sites classify a chance? No wonder they're completely pointless Which part of it are you referring to? Passes leading to shots (on or off target) and passes leading to "chances" are not really the same thing. I've actually got the OPTA definitions on my PC somewhere, should be able to clarify. Edited 15 September, 2015 by The9

No wonder they're completely pointless So what would you classify as a chance? It will be fascinating I'm sure.
The9 Posted 15 September, 2015 Share Posted 15 September, 2015 Here's a bunch of stuff from Opta: Shot on target Any goal attempt that: a) Goes into the net b) Would have gone into the net but for being stopped by a goalkeeper's save c) Would have gone into the net but for being stopped by a defender who is the last man. Shot off target Any goal attempt where the ball is going wide of the target, misses the goal or hits the woodwork. Goal Assist The final pass or pass-cum-shot leading to the recipient of the ball scoring a goal. Second Assist/Key Pass A pass/cross that is instrumental in creating a goal-scoring opportunity, for example a corner or free-kick to a player who then assists an attempt, a chance-creating through ball or cross into a dangerous position. Key Pass The final pass or pass-cum-shot leading to the recipient of the ball having an attempt at goal without scoring. Chances Created Assists plus Key passes. Convict Colony Posted 16 September, 2015 Share Posted 16 September, 2015 Some would say that not one of them is or was a top midfielder and are making up for this by their endeavour. But hey, this isn't a footrace, this is football. PS. I just wanted to use this gif.
niceandfriendly Posted 16 September, 2015 Share Posted 16 September, 2015 Just because he's a horror show now doesn't mean he will always be so appalling. Needs time and experience in a much lower league and he could still prove to be a useful Prem player in the future. Don't give up on him yet. JWP is a competent but unspectacular PL footballer I've seen far worse players in the red and white.

Donatello Posted 16 September, 2015 Share Posted 16 September, 2015 So what would you classify as a chance? It will be fascinating I'm sure. Anything that facilitates his position of Koeman being an overly defensive manager
