Wiggles31 Posted 12 September, 2015 Posted 12 September, 2015 Romeu and Mane back in. I'd also stick with Rodriquez as hopefully he'll get better with more minutes under his belt. Plus we will be able to play more counter attack football and the pace will be welcomed. Fancy a result as Utd have looked somewhat ordinary this season. Will be interesting to see how they fair against an ordinary Liverpool. 2-1 Saints. Ever an optimist.
Batman Posted 12 September, 2015 Posted 12 September, 2015 just no JWP and Davis in the same side. just plain wrong
Wiggles31 Posted 12 September, 2015 Author Posted 12 September, 2015 just no JWP and Davis in the same side. just plain wrong Agreed. It totally absorbs all creativity coming from the middle. Can't wait to have a fit Clasie in the team ahead of them.

mrfahaji Posted 12 September, 2015 Posted 12 September, 2015 I was just about to post this Despite Davis' lack of goal threat, against a top 4 club like United we need him to link defence and attack I think Davis is exactly the KIND of player we need in that position, unfortunately he lacks something in the final third. He was arguably our best player against Newcastle but for every game he plays well at the moment he has a couple (some would say more!) where he doesn't. I really want him to prove me and most others wrong but I don't think JWP even fits into the category of being the right kind of player for that position, nor as a DM.
DuncanRG Posted 12 September, 2015 Posted 12 September, 2015 Playing Wanyama and Romeu together seems far too defensive to me, especially for a home game.
Avenue Saint Posted 12 September, 2015 Posted 12 September, 2015 Playing Wanyama and Romeu together seems far too defensive to me, especially for a home game. It's not defensive when you've got Rodriguez, tadic, mane and pelle in front.
Lighthouse Posted 12 September, 2015 Posted 12 September, 2015 --------------Steklenberg ------------ Cedric ---- Fonte -----VvD -----Targett -------- Wanyama ----Romeu ---- --- Mane ------Rodriguez-------Tadic --- ------------------Pelle ------------- Subs: Gazza, Bertrand, Caulker, JWP, Davis, Juanmi, Long This but with Yoshida on the bench for Bertrand. If Ryan is fully fit he should start, if not I'd rather have Yoshi on the bench. Shaw looked like Utd's best threat today against Liverpool, I think we need to keep him quiet. Put Mane wide right and push Shaw back into his own half. At least we can't get mugged off by RVP this year.
Baird of the land Posted 12 September, 2015 Posted 12 September, 2015 Playing Wanyama and Romeu together seems far too defensive to me, especially for a home game. Yeah personally think they are too similar & its better to only play one or the other. I'd stick with replacing Jrod with Mane and possibly Targett with Bertrand(if he's fit enough to play)
Norm Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 Hope I'm wrong but 0-3. We were poor, really poor yesterday.
Saint_clark Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 Playing Wanyama and Romeu together seems far too defensive to me, especially for a home game. No different to playing Wanyama and Schneiderlin. In fact from what we've seen, Romeu actually gets forward more and has a go at goal every now and then.

Can see both Vic and Rom starting edit Edited 13 September, 2015 by Batman
musesaint Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 I would like to think otherwise but I fear we are going to get twoked and my weekend will end on a downer.
S-Clarke Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 Hope I'm wrong but 0-3. We were poor, really poor yesterday. We weren't.
Sour Mash Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 Hope I'm wrong but 0-3. We were poor, really poor yesterday. Are you having a laugh? We were alright yesterday, still lacking creativity, but otherwise fine.
Batman Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 Last season we completely battered them at St Mary's, yet lost. Cant see LvG starting 352 for this one and they are certainly better than last season. be more ruthless in front of goal is needed
Saint Garrett Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 4-3-3....Stek; Cedric Fonte VVD Targett; Romeu Wanyama Davis; Tadic Pelle Mane
Pass the Dutchie Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 United are building confidence. For just this one time I'd be happy with 0-0.
DuncanRG Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 No different to playing Wanyama and Schneiderlin. In fact from what we've seen, Romeu actually gets forward more and has a go at goal every now and then. I suppose Romeu does take the ball forward a little more than Wanyama but his instinct is still to drop close to the back four off it. Early days but he's not zipping the ball around like Schneiderlin did, and that's what you need next to Wanyama.

eelpie Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 Ok, except I'd rather swap positions with Rod on wing and Mane central where he is a dangerous, creative and supportive threat behind Pelle. He has the speed that Pele hasn't

Batman Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 This, with Bertrand back in if he's fit. Need Big Vic and Rom to be on it, United are starting to look much stronger. Can't see how he can be fit. Has not played a game for 3 months and has zero pre season. Only back in full training tomorrow
Sour Mash Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 Can't see how he can be fit. Has not played a game for 3 months and has zero pre season. Only back in full training tomorrow I reckon we'll try and get him back quickly. He was obviously involved in some kind of training with the squad last week. Will be interesting to see if he plays in the u21s game tomorrow.
VectisSaint Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 Will Clasie be available? No. First he will need to start training.
simo Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 I think we'll nick this one , we arguably outplayed them the last 3 times they've came to Sms and they've got no Rvp to rescue them anymore
Wade Garrett Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 No. First he will need to start training. Is that likely to be anytime soon?
VectisSaint Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 Is that likely to be anytime soon? Who knows? But the lead time to him being ready to start is likely to be 2-3 weeks. He didn't even look fit when he got hurt in the U21s.
Leicestersaint Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 Drop Davis and JWP and put them on a crash course how to shoot at a goal. Drop JRod. Bring in some goal scorers and creative players.
Saint Garrett Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 Drop Davis and JWP and put them on a crash course how to shoot at a goal. Drop JRod. Bring in some goal scorers and creative players. You don't beat Man Utd by sticking 4 up front.... Almost guarenteed it'll be Wanyama Romeu and Davis in midfield, flanked by Tadic and Mane with Pelle through the middle.

SaintMB Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 Typical. Letting facts and the real world get in the way of a dig at the team.
igsey Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 Not much point trying to predict the team, Ron keeps making bizarre choices with the starting line-ups and seemingly refuses to change things before the 70th minute. However, ideally I would have Romeu and Mane in for JWP and Davis. Not sure JRod should be starting either.
alehouseboys Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 Bit surprised this hasn't sold out yet but no doubt will in next few days. And why haven't we given Utd the full allocation?
Saint Billy Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 Bit surprised this hasn't sold out yet but no doubt will in next few days. And why haven't we given Utd the full allocation? Probably because we need all the help we can get!
Sour Mash Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 Bit surprised this hasn't sold out yet but no doubt will in next few days. And why haven't we given Utd the full allocation? Ww would have given United the full allocation?
alehouseboys Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 Ww would have given United the full allocation? Well, they're entitled to 3,200ish which, I thought, included Block 43 but that's on sale to Saints fans. I know we've restricted them in the past as they've played up but don't think that's the case recently?

Only the handful of seats in 43 that are always on sale to home fans, the rest of the block is United as usual.
saint97 Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 Fancy a win in this one if Rooney isn't fit.
Saint Garrett Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 Fancy a win in this one if Rooney isn't fit. I'd be more worried by Martial, Rooney is always crap when he plays us.

Saint Garrett Posted 13 September, 2015 Posted 13 September, 2015 Davis is always first on your team sheet isn't he? I like him, I think we're a better side when he plays, you just need to get the balance right around him, he's not going to win a game on his own, but he can certainly help not lose it. More than happy for him to start the majority of games, even if he doesn't stay on. IMO him and JWP are fighting for one place, it's when they both play where we seem to have a problem.
