Lighthouse Posted 9 September, 2015 Posted 9 September, 2015 Been a while since we had a game. I'll start with Tooting Broadway. Tudor Court rules apply but no Piccadilly diagonals. Good luck.
suewhistle Posted 9 September, 2015 Posted 9 September, 2015 I used to be expert at the game, but now I'm getting a bit older I realise the inadequacy of my skills, so I'm just going to listen to the experts on the radio.. :-)
Verbal Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 I used to be expert at the game, but now I'm getting a bit older I realise the inadequacy of my skills, so I'm just going to listen to the experts on the radio.. :-) Would it be easier for you if we switched from Tudor Court Rules to Trumpington Variations?
Verbal Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 Preston Road Hmm. It's early in the game so we should probably let that go. But moves that defy the laws of physics are generally frowned upon. Tooting Bec.
Kingsland Codger Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 Tooting Bec??!! And only a few moves after the game started at Tooting Broadway! Very Bold! Embankment
hutch Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 I'm not usually a risk-taker, but.......... Ealing Broadway
Lighthouse Posted 10 September, 2015 Author Posted 10 September, 2015 I'm not usually a risk-taker, but.......... Ealing Broadway
Pancake Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 Ah, I can play the Ealing switchback and hit Queensway!
Kingsland Codger Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 Crikey! Not one, but two Broadways and we've scarcely hit double figures in posts. Sooner or later someone is bound to contravene The Granville Conventions and then we'll be in real trouble. But in the meantime I'll play it safe and from Queensway I'll say - Marble Arch.
Special K Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 I'm not sure if the reverse move to Lancaster Gate is in line with the Nash Convention of '53. Benefit of the doubt though, so I'll risk Holborn.
scotty Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 Someone remind me, do the Tudor Court rules allow for huffing? If so, the obvious move would be Morden.
Colinjb Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 Someone remind me, do the Tudor Court rules allow for huffing? If so, the obvious move would be Morden. Outrageous! Within the rules but still.... shame on you.
Chap in the Chapel Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 Someone remind me, do the Tudor Court rules allow for huffing? If so, the obvious move would be Morden. We're trying to have a civil, sensible game of Mornington Crescent here. Stop trying to troll it! Anyway - Goldhawk Road.
Pancake Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 We're trying to have a civil, sensible game of Mornington Crescent here. Stop trying to troll it! Anyway - Goldhawk Road. Ah, the classic move of a weasel, well back at you and direct to Blackfriars!
Chap in the Chapel Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 Ah, the classic move of a weasel, well back at you and direct to Blackfriars! Weasel? How very dare you. My blood data shows that I am a clean Mornington Crescent player! After Blackfriars it must be West Harrow.
Verbal Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 High Street Kensington. Finally, some progress. Well played.
so22saint Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 High Street Kensington. I am going to copy Lord Redmond from the 1947 congress and squander to Grange Hill
Pancake Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 From Grange Hill to Stepney Green. Hmmm. Is this valid? Pretty sure the MCC ruled it out in 1895 but I cant find the notes online. If Im wrong, thenI will accept it and move to Barbican
Mr Biscuits Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 Sloane Square. How do you like them apples? (Posted afterPancake, however I think you'll find I got away with it. Just.)
SaintZamboni Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 Canada Water. Controversial I know, but my commonwealth link allows it
scotty Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 (edited) Goodge Street. ...aaah, scrap that, just seen zambonis Canada Water so it doesn't work. Elephant and Castle. Edited 10 September, 2015 by scotty
Lets B Avenue Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 Goodge Street. Did you sacrifice Seven Sisters?
scotty Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 It wasn't so much that, but Lighthouse said at the start we can't have any diagonals. Then zamboni stuck a spanner in the works with Canada Water, and I realised I couldn't use Goodge Street. It's not so much the rules as the spirit of the game.
Lighthouse Posted 10 September, 2015 Author Posted 10 September, 2015 I'll throw a curve ball in here and say Heathrow Airport.
Mr Biscuits Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 Oh please. Finsbury Park Plus you landed on one of my hotels
Suhari Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 (edited) ... Edited 10 September, 2015 by Suhari
badgerx16 Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 I'll throw a curve ball in here and say Heathrow Airport. Not with Tudor Court rules, remember the playing area is limited due to the proximity of the plague. Oh please. Finsbury Park Plus you landed on one of my hotels Let's cross platforms to the Picadilly line and go to Arsenal
scotty Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 Not with Tudor Court rules, remember the playing area is limited due to the proximity of the plague. Let's cross platforms to the Picadilly line and go to Arsenal I'd certainly want an adjudication on that. No Picadilly diagonals, remember?
badgerx16 Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 I'd certainly want an adjudication on that. No Picadilly diagonals, remember? I assumed Napalm had come in on the Victoria Line, so it's not a diagonal move it's a straight crossover between platforms, as I beleive they are on the same level.
Kingsland Codger Posted 10 September, 2015 Posted 10 September, 2015 Pimlico Clever. I was about to call 'Foul' as normally that move would be invalid ... but then I remembered just in time that Komorovsky's Amendment allows it in September. I shall keep things tight and go to - Vauxhall.
melmacian_saint Posted 11 September, 2015 Posted 11 September, 2015 Stockwell. Easy one to get out of.
buctootim Posted 11 September, 2015 Posted 11 September, 2015 Stockwell. Easy one to get out of. Not if you're Brazilian plumber. Oxford Circus, four lines, puts me in the lead.
so22saint Posted 11 September, 2015 Posted 11 September, 2015 Switchback: Wimbledon. Cryer: Parsons Green
Pancake Posted 11 September, 2015 Posted 11 September, 2015 Monument Classic. Doffs cap to you sir, one of the finest moves on here. So, being the risk taker I am and knowing the Great Fire Escape clause I'm going to jump the Thames to London Bridge.
