Incidentally, does anyone remember Bierhoff being linked to Saints near the end of his playing career (about 12 years ago) but the deal fell through because we wouldn't break our wage structure for him? Monk Posted 5 September, 2015 Share Posted 5 September, 2015 Some irony in his comments considering he ended up at Monaco having agreed to join us.
Fan The Flames Posted 5 September, 2015 Share Posted 5 September, 2015 It doesn't seem particularly complimentary. Maybe he remembers us badly for not splashing the cash on him. There is a German offensive about, Low saying that our cash is strengthening the German national side http://www.skysports.com/football/news/12016/9978089/joachim-low-premier-league-spending-weakens-england
Plastic Posted 5 September, 2015 Share Posted 5 September, 2015 As the article says, valid point but a bad example.
CB Fry Posted 5 September, 2015 Share Posted 5 September, 2015 Makes sense to me. He's not mentioning us because he nearly joined us 15 years ago. He's using us an example of a medium sized Premier League club now being more attractive than a large German club. We're the best example for him to use really especially as the useful facts around club spending show just how much we have invested in the squad. Mane, Clasie, Van Dijk, Tadic are all players that historically one could have seen joining German clubs instead of the ranks of mid-Prem. It's brilliant we have them. All in all, makes our whimpering display in the Europa League even more sickening.

CB Fry Posted 5 September, 2015 Share Posted 5 September, 2015 (edited) Why do you feel the need to explain it, every who has read the article understands it fully. You're worried that he isn't "complimentary", another said it was a "bad example", another thinks it all stems back to him not signing for us, so maybe not. I do agree with the article. Perhaps we are not a bad example, but there are better (check the PL spending table thread for names).

Yeah because I really thought that OB jumped at the chance to get us back over after all these years. You are not as clever as you think you are. Incidentally, does anyone remember Bierhoff being linked to Saints near the end of his playing career (about 12 years ago) but the deal fell through because we wouldn't break our wage structure for him? Rupert Lowe mentioned it at one of the Radio Solent Forums that used to take place before the start of the season. Bierhoff was in his thirties and was asking for a load of money. Rupert's comment was "He's not 25 anymore and we're not Manchester United".
