Barring another 'meltdown' the Panini Euro sticker album could have a record number of Southampton players in it. Fonte' date=' Bertrand, Cedric, Van Dijk, Clasie, Pelle, Davis, Long.[/quote']

Just need Holland to sort their shyt out

Football 365 player ratings read : Bertrand is an obvious downgrade on Luke Shaw....

Really? Naturally Saints fans would be best placed to judge that. What do you lot think?

Don't really care what F365 think of him. I have little interest in the national side at the moment, and Bertrand is what we have and not Shaw so really rather pointless comparing the two. Shaw is improving though, but still has that huge hole in his game - he can't use his right foot. Also, I suspect RB is more likely to score a goal.

Is this because his leg is broken or he really cannot use his right foot?

I watched Bertrand closely throughout the first half and he was very impressive. His positioning was top drawer dragging their midfield out when not in possession and lots of accurate passing and great intelligent play when in possession.

Was not given the credit he was due by crappy big team populist commentator....

Call me bias but looks a better player than Luke Shaw to me...

For what it's worth Kane was awful and Clyne was very average with the trademark poor crossing and frequent stray passes.

Over the course of 90 mins and even a season Ryan is the better LB imo. His positioning and passing is brilliant. The reason Luke gets raved about is 3/4 per game he goes on runs and looks unstoppable, the main problem though is they nearly always come to nothing! This will probably change as he gets more experienced but right now I'd take Ryan over him all day long.

just had a look at he BBC ratings

it said that bertrand is way down the LB pecking order..

why???

I just looked at them too.

Clyne defended better than he attacked - very rarely got beaten, and his crossing was ordinary.

Kane's rating, and I quote: "6 - Quiet night for the Spurs striker but has proved before he can get goals for England." So, he was rated on historical performances and 'reputation', then, not this one?! Maybe we should do that all the time - ignore the actual performance and just rate them on what we think they're probably capable of!

I thought he was worth a 3 at most. He was dreadful.

Bertrand rated same as Clyne, but was way better imo. Attacking play was actually useful, linking with Sterling well. Should have got a 7.

The rest I kind of agree with.

Agree totally. Any player from a London club gets praise.. regardless of his actual performance. Good job that Jack Wilshere wasn't there, this time.

He gets MoM award just for lacing up his boots and running out on the pitch. One good goal and praise from Glenn Hoddle... and he's got a guaranteed place for the next 3 seasons.

3? That high? I thought it was one of the most inept performances I have seen of any player in an England shirt. Absolutely awful. I honestly couldn't understand why Woy left him on the pitch.

"I thought Harry Kane's performance at centre forward despite the fact he didn't actually score was good. He did some fantastic work, setting things up. Jamie Vardy's only been on the pitch a few minutes before he sets something up."

Great to see Davis and Long being the heroes for their teams, and that NI have confirmed their spot. Wales are all but guaranteed to be there and RoI have their fate in their own hands now, thanks to Shane. It's only Scotland that's let the British Isles down.

I reckon that England would have struggled in a group with Germany, Poland and Rep of Ireland !

Scotland didn't qualify but they came close in the 'group of death' !

fookin depressing reading some of this cack. England 100% record in qualifiers still not good enough, yet people know we aren't the best, whilst also spouting that our players are ****e compared to other 'top nations'. Can't win either way.

No doubt that if we win the Euros (i know its very very doubtful) these same mugs will lap it all in, although they were not really supporting the nation team at all due in the qualifiers due to them being 'boring' over the last few years.

Could be worse, Aussies lost to the giants of Jordan in a qualifier the other day, if only we had their 'passion' they show during the finals ...
