He had quite a life, although he would not have chosen the attention he played an important role in progessing LGBT rights due to his trial in the 1950's. A very important man in the cultural history of the UK.

Wasn't he also instrumental in the festival scene? Mainly jazz but pre Glastonbury.

The Rod Stewart hit "Maggie May" was about a lady who Rod lost his virginity to at the 1961 Beaulieu Jazz Festival.

Its sad he has passed away, I hope that Beaulieu museum doesnt change as a result.

 

I am taking the Trabant down to the Autojumble on Sunday which is a cracking day out.
