I think we'll do well up there as long as we don't commit the cardinal sin we committed last year - letting a Pulis side score on us early. From that point it was all about trying to counter their horrible, stifling negativity - and, of course, ball boys gone missing. I'd say AWOL but I think they did have leave.

I think we can have an Anti Spurs Love In with The WBA fans.

Who the eff are Tottenham Hotspur .....

always liked WBA and more respect now after Peace's statement exposing Spurs pathetic antics.

I can imagine what their forum must be posting about Berahino.

Not as funny as Odemwingie drive to QPR's car park though

Hm. Not too convinced by this. Juanmi for Davis? Think Davis gets involved all across the pitch and definitely enjoys passing the ball around which is what we need, yes he's 'experienced' PL player which is what you need for pulis type games, but I'd like to see Juanmi get a game in that position in front of Vic/Romeu.

Their defense is fairly shaky at the moment. starting Back 5 missing 3 players from this time last year, incl. foster.

I'd wager that with Mane and Juanmi starting, maybe JRod coming on for whole second half, we'll be creative/unpredictable enough to get a goal or two.

Sorry, also worth noting they've had tallest team for last few games of PL. Maybe balls into the box not going to be as effective. So there's added impetus to play the ball on the ground a little more

Apart from JWP and Targett, where or when will our much vaunted youths ever get a look in? There is Martina and Caulker to consider, as well, so what hope Seager, McQueen, Hesketh, Gape, Sims or anyone else? How good do they have to be to break in. Even Harry Reed is now about sixth in the peeking order.

Whilst on one level this is great, we have strength in depth, on the other, aren't we supposed to have one of the top three academies in the country?

Personally would go

------------Stek

Cedric Fonte Van Dijk Targett

--------Romeu-JWP-------------

Mane-------Davis---------Tadic

--------------Pelle----------------

Obviously Bertrand if he's fit. Clasie on the bench if back (unlikely?)

Wanyama on the bench if he manages to screw his head back onto his body.

I expect all of the fans who have moaned about player loyalty will be standing by Yoshida to keep his place, despite van Dijk being available? ;)

It would be a bit of a surprise if Yoshida was replaced by van Dijk for WBA, with little or no training for VvD with his new team mates, nothing to do with loyalty. Personally would play the same team as against Norwich, can't see any good reason to change it. Bertrand & Clasie will not be ready, VvD on the bench, Vic also benched or not selected. The team were playing well first 30 minutes, no need for changes against WBA.

Can't wait for this one, my first trip to the Hawthorns will be nice as if memory serves me well, WBA were the first team I ever saw saints play.

Squad should be much stronger barring anyone picking up injuries on international. Am sure van Dijk will start, hopefully Bertrand and Vic. Also, will be great to see Lambert again

Away to West Brom is a very different proposition from home to Norwich (with 10 men for an hour), I suspect we'll be keen to start with Romeu - and Wanyama if he's in the right frame of mind - maybe with the 5 at the back seen at Watford (though if VVD can play in that formation, I have no idea). Personally I'd prefer 4-2-3-1 with Fonte/Van Dijk and Romeu/Wanyama, Cedric at RB and Yoshida at LB. The 2 DM shield should be sufficient for defending the flanks in front of the FBs so I'd be ok with Tadic/Rodriguez/Mane across the AM and Pelle up top.

Nailed on! The ex players curse! Actually I would be happy for him to score as long it is a consolation goal for them!

Strange. I'd never be happy for anyone to score against us. I loved Ricky when he played for us but he doesn't now and to be happy to concede a goal is just weird. I wish Ricky the best of luck at West Brom but against us I hope he has an absolute nightmare and looks like a Sunday league player.

This. Haven't seen so much time wasting from the kick off of a game.

Saints to win this one.

Difficult to say, Japan play Cambodia tomorrow and Iran on the 8th, that will mean that Maya is back with Saints on Thursday 10th whilst I don't think VvD is involved in any internationals at all.

I think I read they have Afghanistan away after Cambodia , yes according to this next three away games Afghanistan, Syria and Iran. Slightly off topic but I might take up following Japan away some proper trips there.

There is no such thing as an ex-players curse. Of course if you player enough of your ex-players they will score a few every now and then but did any ex-Saints actually score against us last year? None of the Liverpool contingent, nor Arsenal. Shaw didn't, neither did Crouch, Puncheon, Baird and probably half a dosen others we came up against.

I doubt Rickie will even get on the pitch TBH. He's got Rondon, Anichebe and one would imagine Berahino all fighting over his place.

Assuming it will be too early for Bertrand and Clasie, I would pick this starting 11:

Stekelenburg

Soares

Fonte

Van Dijk

Targett

Wanyama

Romeu

Mane

Rodriguez

Tadic

Pelle

Bench:

Gazza

Caulker

Reed

Jwp

Davis

Juanmi

Long

It's marginal, but I think it would be a bit more surprising if VvD didn't start.

One of the few grounds in the prem I've not been to this (not sure why either) so looking forward to ticking it off.

Having a feeling this will be a tough niggly game so would play wanyama, Romeu and JWP in the middle with Tadic left and mane right. Rest of the team pretty much picks itself (assuming VVD goes straight in).

Be happy enough with a point to be honest but I think west brom might be there for the taking after the transfer window upheaval

Who from the matchday squad is likely to drop out if Wanyama and Van Dijk are included for West Brom? Reed? Martina?

You'd have thought so. Weirdest signing of the summer for me, he really doesn't look like much of a player.

Think he looks solid enough no world beater but as cover for right back or possibly an emergency centre back he will do. Sometimes you just need a player who is solid and unspectacular and doesn't mind getting splinters in his arse.

Looks perfectly competent enough for backup to me now, having been utterly gash on his debut. 2 year deal suggests lack of expectation for him, and possibly some for McCarthy, Turnbull or Stephens.
