Injury Watch

Back before the end January hopefully. Looks like it is just one foot, and not both.

Both feet was just a misunderstanding caused by Koeman's iffy command of the English language. Never was a real issue.

LvG creates similar confusion amongst the OT faithful because he confuses the use of 2 Engllish words which are both the same in Dutch...apparently.

A saints player fell off his scooter after the front wheel collapsed and has got an injury.

The bloke who told me this didn't know who it was but has passed on decent info before. I'd like to believe it's true just for the sheer bizarreness of the injury.

sounds just as unlikely as .. falling down a ladder, or dropping a bottle on your toe .....:D

Or "just had a less serious injury after playing without problem for 3 months" depending on how you want to look at it.

If by "without problem", you mean "in and out of the team and nowhere near his previous level" then yes he's been playing without problem.

I think him never really getting back to his previous level looks like the likely outcome here.

He was playing at pretty much the same level as he did for the first 6 months with us, to be honest. Not at his peak but like Lallana at Liverpool last season, he was playing in a system that didn't suit him as well as the one he was in under Pochettino.

when he is fully fit, he will come back in. He is our number 1 and we have a huge investment in him

We shall see. I don't think there's much difference in their ability and as well as Stekelenburg not having done anything to get dropped, we won't want to risk Forster when we don't have to. Also, Stekelenburg is dutch... :)

On the subject of injuries, spotted this odd little snippet in the Mail today. The only link I can find online is on wixsports where it is buried as part 2 of an article about Giggs:

http://wixsports.com/when-louis-van-gaal-leaves-manchester-united-ryan-giggs-is-still-the-man-to-beat/ but here is the piece in full:

Gaston Ramirez is so fed up with his treatment by Southampton’s medical department that he is now paying for his own specialist to resolve a long-standing issue of a dead leg. Ramirez, who spent last season on loan with Hull City, has not played for Ronald Koeman’s team since the 2-1 victory over Aston Villa in the Capital One Cup on October 28.

Someone mentioned that on here before I think. Disappointing if true.

I have a very reliable source (at another club) who has told me that our state of the art facilities haven't turned out to be as effective for our support staff as might be portrayed. The phrase "have to start again" was uttered.

I imagine we've just given up on him. Absolute sick note, not worth the resources.

maybe he isnt and he has been advised to go elsewhere. Maybe we have not been so good on that front. Look at previous long term injuries we have had/dealt with and St Chalet's snippet

Looks like some of the issue is that we have given up on him. Perhaps worth considering that there is actually a real problem that has not gone away. Unlikely anyone will take him in January if this is the case, and Ronald seems unwilling to play him, or at least the on-going medical issue is preventing him playing. I suspect he will be with us until mid 2016 when he will be out of contract.
