SuperSAINT Posted 2 October, 2016 Posted 2 October, 2016 Claud's update on JRod and Boufal is good in two ways; positive on both likely to be available for Burnley game immediately after the international break; and that he seems to be more willing to give updates on injured players than has been the case in the past. Both of them badly needed as it will be back to games every 3/4 days after the break so would also be good to see Gardos get his first run out in a reserve fixture. With those three in contention the squad looks very strong on paper. Then comes the hard bit, delivering the performances, but as fans we tend to worry until the final whistle. Boufal & J-Rod coming back gives us some real options when it comes to rotation as well.
Pass the Dutchie Posted 3 October, 2016 Posted 3 October, 2016 Any news on Cedric? The Guardian says: Injuries Southampton: The foot injury that forced Cédric Soares off in the 26th minute is not thought to be serious but he may undergo a scan early this week to make sure.
Matthew Le God Posted 6 October, 2016 Posted 6 October, 2016 Boufal, Rodriguez & Gardos can all be seen in training today. Today was first time Boufal has been in full training... https://southamptonfc.com/news/2016-10-06/video-sofiane-boufal-first-full-training-session-southampton

Or has he been fit all this time? Claude's rotational options just got a little bit stronger.
The Cat Posted 6 October, 2016 Posted 6 October, 2016 Long went off injured late in today's game according to BBC live text I was reading.
SuperSAINT Posted 6 October, 2016 Posted 6 October, 2016 Long went off injured late in today's game according to BBC live text I was reading. Must have been very late as the OS says he played 94mins.
The Cat Posted 6 October, 2016 Posted 6 October, 2016 Must have been very late as the OS says he played 94mins. Game went to 98 mins. I was furiously refreshing the BBC Sport app because they were the last team I needed to win on my accumulator.
Matthew Le God Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 Long appears to be fine for Rep. Ireland's next game, so the Burnley game shouldn't be an issue. But striker Shane Long is expected to be fit for the game in Chisinau despite limping off late in Thursday's game with a leg muscle injury. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37583930
Batman Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 Bertrand is coming off after tweaking his hammy Probably out for the weekend
DT Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 FFS Bertrand hamstring In a pointless game against non-entitities. Bloody great
St Chalet Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 Looked like a strain as opposed to a pulled hamstring. A few weeks, as opposed to months I hope. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
SuperSAINT Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 That's a few weeks for Beet I reckon I hope Targett is alright now.
S-Clarke Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 Absolutely despise internationals for this exact reason. Just ditch them.
AllSorts Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 I hope Targett is alright now. Just didn't want to go to Kazakhstan I reckon.
Batman Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 got to love that. Hoddle saying that is a good tackle and then see replays of rooney going over the top of the ball-ish. pretty nasty they are desperate for Rooney to be the main man
St Chalet Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 Yoshida or Sam McQueen at left back for Burnley? Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
SuperSAINT Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 Absolutely despise internationals for this exact reason. Just ditch them. I know. Losing Bertrand is a massive blow.
Katalinic Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 I know. Losing Bertrand is a massive blow. Yep Targett nowhere near his level unfortunately.
Batman Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 thank god it is Burnley next. Decent side as they are, we have much tougher games coming up
Sour Mash Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 He seemed to walk off reasonably ok, assume it's a minor injury and could still be back for Burnley.
Plastic Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 He seemed to walk off reasonably ok, assume it's a minor injury and could still be back for Burnley. Doubt it. As he's had to come off, I'd expect a couple of weeks out minimum.
farawaysaint Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 Target and Bertrand injured. That's just our bloody luck
Sour Mash Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 Doubt it. As he's had to come off, I'd expect a couple of weeks out minimum. He could be fine again in a couple of days. In fact, it might do us a favour having him with his feet up at home and not out in Slovenia.
Plastic Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 He could be fine again in a couple of days. In fact, it might do us a favour having him with his feet up at home and not out in Slovenia. Hope you're right mate
JakkoUK Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 Well that's more than annoying. Last thing we wanted was Bertrand, a vital cog in our six in a row clean sheet defense, getting injured for that shambles that is known as England. Really do hate internationals, just lost every ounce of passion for them.. don't even know who we are playing today. Here is hoping it looked worse than it was and he is in-fact miraculously somehow fit for Burnley!
InvictaSaint Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 MT will be fit. Good to hear. Any early news on Ryan? Fingers crossed for him.
Charlie Wayman Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 He could be fine again in a couple of days. In fact, it might do us a favour having him with his feet up at home and not out in Slovenia. Wishful thinking sadly, it looked nasty and is probably the last we'll see of him for a few weeks. The way he pulled up was not good and the look on his face told you all you needed to know. Bugger me that's four full backs crocked and the season's only just getting under way. So we are down to any two from Martina and McQueen! Imagine them playing three games a week with two long trips away as well. ... and what a bore-fest that was. At least England make Saints look impressive.
Pancake Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 3 at the back, pack the middle and 3 up top. It's called a plan B.
SuperSAINT Posted 8 October, 2016 Posted 8 October, 2016 MT will be fit. I wonder if MT is going to have to play every game at left back? Can't see McQueen coming in to rotate for Inter or Man City?
david in sweden Posted 9 October, 2016 Posted 9 October, 2016 Yoshida or Sam McQueen at left back for Burnley? Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk I was thinking the same thing ....Don't know if Targett is 100% yet, but although Burnley is always a tough game, maybe Puel will give McQueen a chance to start? Yoshida?....well he has had the no.3 shirt for a couple of seasons, and (as I recall) DAJFU whenever he played LB. Unfortunately, Maya hardly got a look in whilst Clyne and Bertrand were (rightly) first choices, and whenever he played "emergency RB " things often went pear-shaped. I think he is a better CB than a full back, (but he might not get past Fonte or VvD in their current form, although he has played CB in 3 of the recent 6 clean sheets.)
Gunnery Posted 9 October, 2016 Posted 9 October, 2016 Jesus...everyone raves about our six clean sheets despite loads of squad rotation, then suddenly a player is injured and it's meltdown time....Targett is more than worthy cover.
david in sweden Posted 9 October, 2016 Posted 9 October, 2016 Jesus...everyone raves about our six clean sheets despite loads of squad rotation, then suddenly a player is injured and it's meltdown time....Targett is more than worthy cover. I think we were only discussing " the possibility" that Matt Targett might not have recovered 100% from his recent injury.... otherwise he is the obvious choice.
david in sweden Posted 9 October, 2016 Posted 9 October, 2016 Martina can play left back if Targett isn't fit. .......that's if he doesn't play at RB .....because Cedric was injured in our last game ......
hutch Posted 9 October, 2016 Posted 9 October, 2016 Martina is likely to be quite busy, with Pied, Bertrand, Soares and Target currently injured.

beatlesaint Posted 9 October, 2016 Posted 9 October, 2016 And duly scores in the first 5 minutes hopefully that will do him the world of good
trousers Posted 9 October, 2016 Posted 9 October, 2016 And Tadic just got an assist with a good cross for Serbia's second (I know, off topic, but couldn't see an 'International Games involving our players' thread)
Badger Posted 9 October, 2016 Posted 9 October, 2016 hopefully that will do him the world of good .. or thats his goal for October done and we won't see another one for a few more games yet
svetigpung Posted 9 October, 2016 Posted 9 October, 2016 He seemed to walk off reasonably ok, assume it's a minor injury and could still be back for Burnley. not too woried about the Burnley game. A LB will not be the difference between these teams. What is more worrying is Internazionale away. We need a fully functioning backline at the SanSiro!
New Forest Steve Posted 9 October, 2016 Posted 9 October, 2016 .. or thats his goal for October done and we won't see another one for a few more games yet ahh, optimism ..... that's what I like to see
