Subs: gazza, Yoshida, caulker, s Davis, tadic, long, ward prowse or Juanmi.

Only worried I have is at right back. Looks better tho and surely at least mid table.

If Shane Long, Yoshida, Caulker, JWP and Reed etc are "average" then Southampton Football Club will always have average on the bench. Let's try and get used to it.

Blimey Cyber Bully Fry you forgot the personal insults?

Swap Long for Austin and maybe Townsend/Lennon for JWP/Tadic and you would then have some speed and power coming off the bench.

Pretty good English options to have in those guys?

Why would they come and why would we pay them to sit on the bench?

A misfiring team, held at home by a Danish side we should have dicked, possibly more of our better players on the move, 3 nil loss first home game of the new season, looking half the side we were last season.

Optimistic, damn right I am, I predict us to equal or better last years position, reach at least the semi's of the Eufa cup and have an extended run in one of the domestic cups.

Saints just played a game in European football, did alright, 30k Saints fans there and we're hunting around for causes for optimism

Perfectly valid comment IMO.

We were having a good chat in the pub last night about what our team looked like when I first had a season ticket. Jermaine Wright, Chris Perry, Jason Euell, Skacel at left back....

It could be worse

Who is moving? The club have stated firmly that Fonte and Mane are staying. JRod has yet to get back up to speed. We have Bertrand and Clasie yet to start a Prem match and by all accounts a new CH is on hos way in. Why be pessimistic?

In my opinion things are not looking good and do not encourage me to be optimistic.

Bertrand yes, we know what he can do. Clasie, not sure about apart from a couple of dubious displays in friendlies, will obviously improve but I cant see him matching Morgan. As for the new additions so far, for me not that convincing but early days I know but I feel too much quality has left the club and has not been replaced with comparible quality.

For me we have a weaker side than last season which does not give me much optimism.

Only my take on it for what its worth, hope I'm wrong.
