Batman Posted 20 August, 2015 Posted 20 August, 2015 going for a 2-1 win. Not out of expectation more in blind hope Stek Cedric Fonte Yoshida Targett Vic Rom Davis Mane Pelle Rodriguez Gazza, Martina, Caulker, JWP, Juanmi, Long, Tadic they will surely fancy their chances. Get at our defence and bingo. How we are in a position where Yoshida is starting every week is just plain bizarre
Baird of the land Posted 20 August, 2015 Posted 20 August, 2015 stek martina fonte caulker targett reed vic davis mane pelle tadic gazza, yoshida, romeu, soares, jrod, long, jwp
Saint Charlie Posted 20 August, 2015 Posted 20 August, 2015 Need to decide what sort of team we are. If long ball, then might as well put Long up with Pelle and be open about it, Long can run the channels and Pelle act as the target. Yoshida LB and Martina RB, beef up the side physically and look to make it a scrap to frustrate the home fans. Caulker a threat from set pieces so he starts and JWP too, purely for his delivery. 0-1 Caulker 62.
ART Posted 20 August, 2015 Posted 20 August, 2015 Have people forgotten that Watford are our bogey team? Really hoping we can overcome our past record and win this game and get back on track.
Pamplemousse Posted 20 August, 2015 Posted 20 August, 2015 Have people forgotten that Watford are our bogey team? Really hoping we can overcome our past record and win this game and get back on track. We did the double over them the last season we met, beating them 4-0 at home and 3-0 away.
shurlock Posted 20 August, 2015 Posted 20 August, 2015 Good test and early marker - this time last season (before the mané/toby signings), we did a comprehensive job on wham that did much to dispel the doom and gloom of the previous game.
Dalek2003 Posted 20 August, 2015 Posted 20 August, 2015 I am afraid we are going to be given a right bloody nose. Watford 4 Saints 0. We will be the talk of the media for the wrong reasons. TBH, I would take finishing 17th now, relegation is a real possibility.
S-Clarke Posted 20 August, 2015 Posted 20 August, 2015 Good test and early marker - this time last season (before the mané/toby signings), we did a comprehensive job on wham that did much to dispel the doom and gloom of the previous game. Yes, I was going to say the same. I remember at this stage last season we'd drawn 0-0 at home to Alan Irvines WBA. Pelle was getting jeered and ripped apart. The mood was a lot worse then than it is now. This will hopefully be a defining result to kick us on, we've not really got out of neutral this season. Watford were decent at Everton, but I still think they've changed too much. They signed Vydra this summer, and they're already now talking about loaning him out. It's not a way to run a club in my opinion, so we can capitalize on what will be a very unfamiliar team.
Wiggles31 Posted 20 August, 2015 Posted 20 August, 2015 Think this will be a draw. F*ck me we miss Bertrand! When is he fit again?
Wiggles31 Posted 20 August, 2015 Posted 20 August, 2015 I am afraid we are going to be given a right bloody nose. Watford 4 Saints 0. We will be the talk of the media for the wrong reasons. TBH, I would take finishing 17th now, relegation is a real possibility. Comic relief at its best. Never change please!
Crab Lungs Posted 20 August, 2015 Posted 20 August, 2015 Bullied by Deeney, Behrami to run the show... Two or three nil reverse

saint lard Posted 20 August, 2015 Posted 20 August, 2015 Christ what a change in fortune......if we get anything I will be surprised and delighted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Donatello Posted 20 August, 2015 Posted 20 August, 2015 4-3-3 for moi (I.e. JWP-Wanyama-Romeu). Need to regain our defensive stability, and playing without an AM will allow the midfield to better protect the full-backs, shifting across more easily (without pulling the entire midfield to one side of the field).
Saint Garrett Posted 20 August, 2015 Posted 20 August, 2015 Be delighted with a draw, prediction 2-1 Watford. Stek; Cedric Fonte Caulker Targett; Wanyama Romeu Davis; JWP Pelle Mane
saint97 Posted 20 August, 2015 Posted 20 August, 2015 Should be a good test. Need to play well for the first time this season. Stekelenburg Cedric, Fonte, Yoshida, Targett Wanyama, Romeu JWP Mané, Pellè, Tadić.
Dalek2003 Posted 21 August, 2015 Posted 21 August, 2015 Slightly off topic, how long before Clasie and Bertrand are ready to play ?
VectisSaint Posted 21 August, 2015 Posted 21 August, 2015 Slightly off topic, how long before Clasie and Bertrand are ready to play ? After the international break.

Saint_Ash Posted 21 August, 2015 Posted 21 August, 2015 Just to join in with the rest of the gimps on this thread Watford are going to win 12-0. In all seriousness we'll dominate and take it 3-1.
Batman Posted 21 August, 2015 Author Posted 21 August, 2015 as someone rightly pointed out. it was away to a (better) london side in the 3rd game last year that really got us rolling (won 3-1 away to west ham) that was without Mane and Toby with Gaston even making an appearance same again please
CWD Posted 21 August, 2015 Posted 21 August, 2015 The last time I felt this confident about a defeat was before we beat Everton 3-0 last season.
DuncanRG Posted 21 August, 2015 Posted 21 August, 2015 Yes, I was going to say the same. I remember at this stage last season we'd drawn 0-0 at home to Alan Irvines WBA. Pelle was getting jeered and ripped apart. The mood was a lot worse then than it is now. It's so important to remember this. Don't think we'll see Yoshida on Sunday, he was absolutely shattered by the end of the game last night.
Appy Posted 21 August, 2015 Posted 21 August, 2015 as someone rightly pointed out. it was away to a (better) london side in the 3rd game last year that really got us rolling (won 3-1 away to west ham) that was without Mane and Toby with Gaston even making an appearance same again please Watford isn't in London.
jjsaint Posted 21 August, 2015 Posted 21 August, 2015 I'm in full negativity mode at the moment. I'd be happy with a draw.
kermitsaint Posted 21 August, 2015 Posted 21 August, 2015 3-1 loss with a 89th minute Pelle goal . Watford will be up for this and we will crumble under pressure .
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 21 August, 2015 Posted 21 August, 2015 I wouldn't be happy with a draw. They're a newly promoted team FFS. A couple of poor performances doesn't make us a bad team, and I think we can win it. 0-1.
VectisSaint Posted 21 August, 2015 Posted 21 August, 2015 Cedric for Yoshida, Yoshida for Caulker and Davis for JWP and that's the team. Bringing Davis back in to the advanced midfield role should give us the energy that we missed last night with JWP (who had a surprisingly good game defensively, winning several tackles and headers). It might be good to give Juanmi a start though, but that would be at the expense of JRod, think we need JRod.
Ludwig Posted 21 August, 2015 Posted 21 August, 2015 If it's on the TFL map, it's London. Zone 9, but London. You're obviously not a stupid person Adrian, but Watford is clearly not in London.
ericofarabia Posted 21 August, 2015 Posted 21 August, 2015 Is this on Sky? 1600 KO seems a strange ko for a non Sky game? I know it's moved to SUN because of the Euro game.
Bandy Golac Posted 21 August, 2015 Posted 21 August, 2015 I have a theory that Watford will not be that great at home this season. They lost 6 home games last season and only managed 0-0 against WBA last time. If we can frustrate them in the first 1/3 of the game ( a big IF with the Everton game in mind) we can definitely get something. I fancy a sneaky 1-0 to Saints with Mane nicking the goal.

Batman Posted 21 August, 2015 Author Posted 21 August, 2015 Koeman presser we need more games we have to develop as a team and get rid of the mistakes 2nd half on thursday was good we have a strong squad, just unlucky with injuries at the mo no updates on new signings watford play good football, I know their manager a little they will be very organised it will be a tough game for us, they are very confident you need time to integrate new players, that is normal this is a very tough league no bid from spurs (for vic) he is not for sale will take time for clasie to be fit we hope he and ryan will be in the side after the international break different preparation for league games we used to have all week to prepare for our league games, now we do not no real time to prepare for league games and little recovery time we analyse watford but they have so many new players, small margins win games Romeu had a good game on thursday. he still needs to improve he will grow with victor in that position. I hope it does not take too long, sure it wont, they are good players Their goal on thursday he and victor were both out of position. more learning requried Sadio has said he wants to stay there is no bid from united, he knows, the club knows, his agent knows, but you have to respond to rumours
Saint Charlie Posted 21 August, 2015 Posted 21 August, 2015 Good presser. Nice and relaxed, smiling and completely dismissing any chance of sales.
the saint in winchester Posted 21 August, 2015 Posted 21 August, 2015 we used to have all week to prepare for our league games, now we do not no real time to prepare for league games and little recovery time He makes a good point really. It's not about total number of games when you're in Europe, it's the short recovery and preparation time. But hey, we wanted to be in Europe and this is where we are - hoping we can stabilise quickly and get a settled team.

the saint in winchester Posted 21 August, 2015 Posted 21 August, 2015 Not all of us wanted to be in Europe. I put that comment in as bait and I knew you would bite on it. Year after year, you morosely predict we'll finish 17th and sell our players. Do you not think supporters should support, rather than carp and whinge? I'm not sure you want us to be in the Premier League either!
jayrivers Posted 21 August, 2015 Posted 21 August, 2015 I think there is a chance we could be more like Everton this year, but hopefully we'll be challenging top 8-10. That doesn't make us a bad team, and I think Everton will be as strong this year as we were last year. If we want to try and kick on, then we need to start playing in Europe, and that will take time to adjust.

He'd already said that at least once, I cut and pasted a quote into Facebook yesterday about it.
Whitey Grandad Posted 21 August, 2015 Posted 21 August, 2015 You're obviously not a stupid person Adrian, but Watford is clearly not in London. It's in the Greater London Urban Area and inside the M25. It's in London as far as the rest of the world is concerned.

You'd drop Mane?
