SuperSAINT Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 Worthy of it's own thead? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/11812248/Manchester-United-launch-bid-for-Southampton-forward-Sadio-Mane.html
Dig Dig Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 Just posted the link on the summer transfer thread, but probably. Would be terrible if Mane left or got distracted ahead of the upcoming season. Hopefully this is nipped in the bud sharpish.
Window Cleaner Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 Can't see it happening but it certainly wouldn't be popular if it did.
TheCholulaKid Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 ******** article. If Van Gaal is prepared to spend big on Mane he's more of an idiot than I thought.
Plastic Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 Don't think we'd sell, certainly not for a price they would be prepared to pay.
Saint Scott Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 They're clearly in the market for an out an out striker. Not sure mane is the man for that roll. I'd be shocked to see him leave this window, he's still got a lot to prove before looking at a top 4 side.
marc_saint Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 Can all other sides just F *ck off and leave us alone! Really getting fed up of this now

I'd be shocked to see him leave this window, he's still got a lot to prove before looking at a top 4 side. How are they clearly in the market for an out and out striker? They haven't really been linked with anyone other than Pedro who isn't that. If they have moved on from Pedro, Mane wouldn't be an unrealistic alternative. He's younger and better anyway and has shown that he can cut it in the premier league.
WATERSIDEIFASAINT Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 If true we should play as hardball as Everton are with Stones and put a £30-£40 million pricetag on his head
Dig Dig Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 If true we should play as hardball as Everton are with Stones and put a £30-£40 million pricetag on his head At this point though, I'd just rather we didn't sell him whatever the price.
Chris27687 Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 I find this really hard to believe this is true, however if United offer £25m+ then he will be off. would Austin & a new £10m AMC be better than keeping Mane?
Dig Dig Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 I find this really hard to believe this is true, however if United offer £25m+ then he will be off. would Austin & a new £10m AMC be better than keeping Mane? Impossible to answer that when a) it's already been reported that we don't want Austin and we wouldn't have to sell Mane to get him and b) what does £10m AMC actually mean and how could anyone say if that's better without any clue as to who the player could be?
Roger Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 Shame it's not Pelle. Just stupid comment he's playing well and been good for us.
Diabolus Ex Machina Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 Shame they didn't post this story a couple of hours ago so Ronald could have nipped it in the bud at the press conference like with the Fonte nonsense. Almost like they held off so the story would get more interest... Anyway, can't see any reason why we would want or need to sell him, so unless they came in with an absolutely ridiculous offer can't see it happening and even then it would be a long shot.

The fact LVG keeps referring to the point he wants a goalscorer to drop Rooney back to last seasons role. Back in for Muller too who bayerns main striker these days.
SuperSAINT Posted 19 August, 2015 Author Posted 19 August, 2015 I've said for a while I think Mane could eventually get up to the £30m price tag, but I have to take the view that it's too soon for a move there IMO. Possibly similar to Memphis a year prior to his big move.
Wade Garrett Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 Just stupid comment he's playing well and been good for us. Not an opinion I share.
Dig Dig Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 The fact LVG keeps referring to the point he wants a goalscorer to drop Rooney back to last seasons role. Back in for Muller too who bayerns main striker these days. The Muller deal looks almost impossible to do. Utd were clearly in the hunt for Pedro so are looking for forward options. Mane wouldn't be the main striker but would be a flexible option across their forward line. Wouldn't be quick to rule out that they are interested is the main point.
angelman Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 30m£ I mean As it is LVG, I would call it £35m-40m. Pay up or shut up and **** off
Village Saint Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 Praet & Austin for Mane? I know journos get a bit desperate at this point in the transfer window when there is nothing to report but this really does take the biscuit. It really is bonkers on so many levels. As for the people who think we should sell and buy Charlie Austin - yes Charlie Austin!!!!!!!!!!!! - I despair. What we should be doing once this window is closed is moving heaven and earth to get Mane's contract extended but maybe that's how this fairy tale came about - Mane's agent thinking about how they were going to get that. Still move on. Nothing to be seen here.
Batman Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 not really impressed on red cafe. from bale to pedro to mane
Whitey Grandad Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 ******** article. If Van Gaal is prepared to spend big on Mane he's more of an idiot than I thought. I don't think he is, and I don't think he is either. Mané just isn't their sort of player.
Saint Billy Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 FFS!...LEAVE US ALONE!!!! (and, relax) Wholeheartedly with you on that trousers. If Mane goes I will be sick to the stomach with f3cking football.
captainchris Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 Can all other sides just F *ck off and leave us alone! Really getting fed up of this now Entirely brought on by our own weakness and not being assertive with a big get lost ! We cave in every time so do you expect!!!! Poor management on our part it's no wonder we continue to get raided. Money is no use what so ever without class players..... Money cannot defend or score goals but our management are great at own goals! Draw a line in the sand or face the consequences !
saint-crinny Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 If there is interest, one thing you can guarantee is that Mane and agent will be pushing for the move
NickG Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 just say no. that will be that As you thought the £10m we paid was too high ("a joke") if we can get our money back surely worth doing?
Millbrook Saint Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 For 30£ I would let him go. Why, what impact does the club getting £30m have on you? Surely seeing a decent player play each week and the club building a better team is more preferential to you as a fan?
TheCholulaKid Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 Entirely brought on by our own weakness and not being assertive with a big get lost ! We cave in every time so do you expect!!!! Poor management on our part it's no wonder we continue to get raided. Money is no use what so ever without class players..... Money cannot defend or score goals but our management are great at own goals! Draw a line in the sand or face the consequences ! What a crock of **** this post it. We haven't caved in for anyone. We've got over the odds money for everyone we've sold (possible exception of Clyne).
Saint_Tony Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 Surely United need an out and out striker? Not sure Mane fits the bill. Still, if this does happen then it will show a ridiculous lack of ambition on our part. Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk
dello Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 I reckon Sir Les would take 25M Can't see United paying more than 20M though.... But if they are stupid enough to pay more then we will accept. If JayRod gets back to his former level then we could be ok really as we have Juanmi also and with the funds we would probably get Austin too.... The one thing I do like about Sadio is his unpredictability though and he certainly knows where the back of the net is. So would be sad to see him go after only one season...
Dig Dig Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 SSN saying that Utd interest is genuine. They feel he would be cheaper than Pedro and offer pace, skill and goals to the side. Offer to follow the interest apparently.
iansums Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 Wholeheartedly with you on that trousers. If Mane goes I will be sick to the stomach with f3cking football. This. These words come to mind: What is the f*cking point?
Verbal Kint Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 He wouldn't be cheaper than Pedro. We'd only sell at 25 million + I would think
James Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 SSN saying that Utd interest is genuine. They feel he would be cheaper than Pedro and offer pace, skill and goals to the side. Offer to follow the interest apparently. No way we are accepting less than the amount they would have paid for Pedro so nothing to see here I don't think.
trousers Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 So, we either end up selling him or he stays, but in 'Clyne mode' for the rest of the season?
Dig Dig Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 No way we are accepting less than the amount they would have paid for Pedro so nothing to see here I don't think. Who knows really. If Utd have already made contact, they might have been given an indication that this would be the case. They've sacked the Pedro deal off for a good reason you would presume.
Matthew Le God Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 If Mane goes I will be sick to the stomach with f3cking football. This. These words come to mind: What is the f*cking point? Saints do the same to other clubs. They may soon have Forster, Wanyama and van Dijk from Celtic in their squad.
Diabolus Ex Machina Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 SSN saying that Utd interest is genuine. They feel he would be cheaper than Pedro and offer pace, skill and goals to the side. Offer to follow the interest apparently. The Telegraph article in the OP says they believe a bid was put in last week...funny we only hear about them wanting Mane after Chelsea scupper the Pedro deal. Almost like they need a replacement story
Batman Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 This. These words come to mind: What is the f*cking point? why would you be sick now? we have gone 12 months letting our best players leave at a completely unprecedented level....its what we clearly do
Matthew Le God Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 So, we either end up selling him or he stays, but in 'Clyne mode' for the rest of the season? 'Schneiderlin mode' after refusing a transfer in 2014/15 was effective.
S-Clarke Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 toepunt will be delighted. Do Utd really know they're signing a non-league level player?
Matthew Le God Posted 19 August, 2015 Posted 19 August, 2015 why would you be sick now? we have gone 12 months letting our best players leave at a completely unprecedented level....its what we clearly do "Letting" isn't the word I'd use. The players get huge wage rises, Champions League football and Saints get large sums of money to bring in new players.
