Thedelldays Posted 3 January, 2009 Posted 3 January, 2009 I dont think I have ever seen a player end a loan period cause such hysteria.. this has been some of the best reading for a while..
Thedelldays Posted 3 January, 2009 Author Posted 3 January, 2009 And you needed a NEW thread to tell us? yes...why not
John B Posted 3 January, 2009 Posted 3 January, 2009 yes...why not Yes I think you are right. By the way if Cork stayed with us I believe Chelsea would not be able to get him back until the end of the season. I know it is unlikely but it would have been a consideration

I know it is unlikely but it would have been a consideration the hysteria caused as he left us to go to a club managed by someone he has worked with for years and back in the london area.. no fecking brainer really..
miserableoldgit Posted 3 January, 2009 Posted 3 January, 2009 I think the point is that Cork was one of the very few bright spots in a very dark season. All of the indications were that he liked it here and that he was going to stay. It has come as quite a shock to people that he has not only gone, but gone to a relegation rival, who had already signed another defender on loan from Arsenal. It is not just the fact that he has gone but coupled with our rivals apparent strengthening that I think has really upset posters so much.

krissyboy31 Posted 3 January, 2009 Posted 3 January, 2009 Plus, most of the other players we have had on loan have been sh!t!!
miserableoldgit Posted 3 January, 2009 Posted 3 January, 2009 Plus, most of the other players we have had on loan have been sh!t!! Agreed, plus some that we have signed have failed to deliver (Wooton) and others seem to be injured more often than not (Morgan S and Holmes).

Agree... also, why we didn't sort out extending Corks loan weeks ago is anybody's guess, especially when the player made it well known in the press he was very happy here & wanted to stay for the remaining season.
Fan The Flames Posted 3 January, 2009 Posted 3 January, 2009 I cant think of many loanees that change clubs half way through the seasons, just like I cant think of many clubs losing a manger for a hip replacement. Only at Southampton. Time for a change.
St. Jason Posted 3 January, 2009 Posted 3 January, 2009 the hysteria caused as he left us to go to a club managed by someone he has worked with for years and back in the london area.. no fecking brainer really.. just playing devils advocate here, so would it still be a no "fecking brainer" if were currently sitting 7 points clear at the top of the league? After all, watford would still be managed by his ex-boss and he'd be back in the London area!!

Fitzhugh Fella Posted 3 January, 2009 Posted 3 January, 2009 Agreed, plus some that we have signed have failed to deliver (Wooton) and others seem to be injured more often than not (Morgan S and Holmes). Don't worry Pullis will save our season!

miserableoldgit Posted 3 January, 2009 Posted 3 January, 2009 Don't worry Pullis will save our season! Oh yeah! He and Gasmi as our "engine room" will save us!
ottery st mary Posted 3 January, 2009 Posted 3 January, 2009 I think we should really be giving Pulis a chance to bed into the club and Gel with the other players and get used to the surroundings. He may be a new signing for Div 1 or Div 2.. He is being saved for the big games.. Some posters just have no patience ...He may be a star in the making...Maybe The Dutch Coaches are converting him into a TOTAL footballer....Well if they do then we will have one and then can work on the others remaining at the club. Bring back Ali Dia at least he was a footballer.

St. Jason Posted 3 January, 2009 Posted 3 January, 2009 clearly not if we were 7 points top of the league...but we are not..are we.. why not, either he's leaving us to link up again with his ex-boss and be closer to the London area or he's not, you can't have it both ways mooooooooosh! Lowe out!!!!
exit2 Posted 3 January, 2009 Posted 3 January, 2009 comes to something also when a 19yr old loanee is one of best players!
saintwarwick Posted 3 January, 2009 Posted 3 January, 2009 comes to something also when a 19yr old loanee is one of best players! Considering most of our squad are 19 years old or less then it is not too difficult to believe.
St_Tel49 Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 just playing devils advocate here, so would it still be a no "fecking brainer" if were currently sitting 7 points clear at the top of the league? After all, watford would still be managed by his ex-boss and he'd be back in the London area!! Its a rhetorical question - of course he would stay in that scenario and he would be mad not to.The reality is that he had a choice of two teams in the pooh but one being managed by his old reserve team boss. Different situation and pointless comparison.
Thedelldays Posted 4 January, 2009 Author Posted 4 January, 2009 Considering most of our squad are 19 years old or less then it is not too difficult to believe. they are not are they... when we played forest...the average age of our starting 11 was 25 the average age of forest starting 11 was 22...
saintwarwick Posted 4 January, 2009 Posted 4 January, 2009 they are not are they... when we played forest...the average age of our starting 11 was 25 the average age of forest starting 11 was 22... Perhaps the may have been confusing for you

Exactly my friend, more to the point he had a choice of either staying with us and suffer an almost certain second relegation in a row or join a team with a bit of ambition going the right way!
