Dissappointed

Far too sensible a post for this place. No touchy snippy responses when Lowe's name mentioned, no references to confectionery, no general moronic sarcasm.

Last summers recruitment was arguably on a par with the losses, this summer's is well below par in my opinion. Consdiering the amount of time we take to do business, I cannot see us being in the positive on balance come the end of August. I think Koeman is deluding himself when he talks of 3 more signings.

Umm.... were you saying that at this point last year? Or are you basing this on hindsight having used the whole of last season as a gauge?

If the latter, maybe it's worth bearing that in mind before you start soiling your pants before this transfer window is even finished.

Here's the thing. Things change. All of the time. Sometimes for the better. Sometimes for the worse. Sometimes there is little difference. The doom merchants didn't like the change last year but things worked out better. The doom merchants don't like the changes again this year but we wont know how that pans out for another 37 games. If moaning and whinging changed anything I would be a strong advocate of us moaning and whinging. But it doesn't. We have until 1st September until we know exactly what our squad will be for this season. We bought Toby on the last day last year. Cant we put off the moaning and whinging to at least then? By the way, we are one point better off at the same stage as last year. Yay.

Thats b*ll*cks. We did the double on Toon last year.

You and SOGGY can keep banging the mantra that the window isnt closed if you like. We will see on 1st Sept, but the signs are not good in my opinion. Koeman was talking about up to 3 signings last week, now it appears to be only VVD - maybe.

Anyone who thought we would come put of this window with an on paper "upgrades" to three of our best players leaving us with an on paper "stronger first eleven" is a fool.

If upgrades on Morgan, Clyne and Toby were easily available then I'd suggest Man U, Spurs and Liverpool would be signing them instead of the inferior Morgan, Clyne and Toby.

Cedric is a perfect example of the replacements we are going to secure - youth, potential, some relevant experience and a chance he is worth £18m in a couple of years himself, at which point we can all have a good old whine about the length of his contract, how we "co cked up" keeping him and how our replacement isn't an upgrade.

The replacements to TA and MS will fit the same pattern. Obviously. Fu cking obviously. Get used to it.

The CM and the CB will be signed and we will have a lovely team all good and ready for the season ahead. And jolly good it will be too.

This.

Are the signs ever good in your opinion? Ron actually said we want another 2-3 players, so if we sign two is that going to be your next stick to beat the club with, that we didn't sign 3?

If we don't sign a CB/CM then I'd agree that we aren't looking as strong. However (and sorry for 'banging the mantra') I will wait until the end of the window before making a judgement, especially as arguably our two best signings of last season came at the very end of deadline day.

It doesn't follow that we would do the double on them this year as well you know. We will beat teams we lost to last year and lose to team we beat last year. If you live your life by what should be as was before, no wonder you are in a constant state of frustration.

How on earth can you judge that at this point in time? In reality, you can really only judge how good a players season was at the end of it!

You started the comparison to last season, bellend, not me.

This time last summer, we didn't have Mane or Toby. There were still doubts over Morgan's future. So you could say we are in a better position this year than we were at this point last year, but I won't let that stop Alpines embarrassing yearly-rants.

It all gets a bit repetitive. Those that are grounded and understand things and the fcking JCL PL dreamers. What of the above do people fail to understand?

We beat Toon at SJP last year, drew this year. Also "simples".

Worth remembering that we robbed them in that game with more or less our only two strikes on goal. Newcastle have spent heavily this summer as they have a new manager and needed to catch up with squads like ours and Swansea's, as have several other lower-mid table teams.

Stoke who finished just below us whipped Liverpool 6-1 yet lost 0-1 this year......means diddly squat. We lost some silly games last year like Burnley away yet won at Man Utd etc if we reverse the silly losses we will be fine.
