Golden Balls Posted 10 August, 2015 Share Posted 10 August, 2015 Heartbreaking that he missed our rise. He would have loved this journey.
Wes Tender Posted 10 August, 2015 Share Posted 10 August, 2015 It's a testament to what he did for us and the warmth that we continue to feel for him that his name is still chanted to this day, five years after he passed away. Our meteoric rise through the divisions and our current journey into European football are his legacy. Also timely to give warm heartfelt thanks to Katharina for continuing to help fulfil her father's vision for us.

saint1977 Posted 10 August, 2015 Share Posted 10 August, 2015 I can see that huge banner working it's way across the Saints section of the Northam Stand and Kingsland Stand on Saturday. Markus's takeover has brought about - with a huge amount of hard work from within the structure which was subsequently put in place from starting -10 in League 1 - a golden era to be a Saints fan. We've got to watch some terrific players, each of the managers from Pardew, Nigel, MP to Ronald have been highly successful in their own ways, and there are memories which will last a lifetime. The successes have also been achieved playing a brand of football which hadn't been seen at Saints since Lawrie's time of the 1970s and 1980s, which has made them all the sweeter. Whilst football is a cut-throat and fast-moving industry where's there little time to reflect, it is important to recognise where the club has come from in such a short space of time and sometimes it's easy to overlook that or take it for granted. thorpie the sinner Posted 10 August, 2015 Share Posted 10 August, 2015 The saviour Six years ago to the very day, We were introduced to the Liebherr way, Saved from the abyss by a man with a vision, the future looked bright following years of derision. Markus was a gentleman through and through, etched into Saints folklore, his intentions were true. Maybe a business venture at the start, It soon became a passion from the heart. A 5 year Premier plan was put in place, Achieved in 3, a beaming smile on his face, We will never forget Markus at Wembley, Taking photos as we won the JPT. Such a sad day when we said a sorrowful goodbye, Our Guardian Angel looking down from on high, What would the future hold as Katherina took control, would she honour her fathers love with her heart and soul? Markus’s daughter has been a breath of fresh air, Her fathers spirit at her core, new visions to share, Markus will always remain in my heart, His spirit of Southampton setting us truly apart. Colinjb Posted 10 August, 2015 Share Posted 10 August, 2015 Thank you Marcus indeed. Can't believe he has been gone for five years. Hope he has loved every minute of our progress from on high. Would love to know, of all the clubs he could have bought and invested in, why us? (There are logical grounds for speculation of course, but to truly know the full answer would be very satisfying.) sadoldgit Posted 10 August, 2015 Share Posted 10 August, 2015 Absolute legend. He'll be incredibly proud of the journey we've been on. Totally agree. But at least the club is still in the family and his legacy lives on.
St Louis Posted 10 August, 2015 Share Posted 10 August, 2015 I just wish the club would allow the giant Liebherr 'Forever a Saint' flag this Saturday as a tribute from the fans. I've seen a few tweets have been sent to the club regarding this, so maybe we could make it happen. #ThankYouMarkus
