Looking a bit thin on the ground. Wonder if Romeu is ready to go straight in

Sounded to me like he starts

Koeman had a face like thumder when asked about Wanyama signing a contract extension. He's off next year then!

Completely expecting it. Plus Mane, and Fonte.

We should at least try and get them to sign an extension for a year or so so we get top dollar.

Why would they oblige though? Generally speaking, the less players cost in transfer fees as they approach the end of their contracts, the more they can ask for in signing bonuses. If you were confident of a move to a big club in the next year and you knew your remaining contract life had approximately halved your transfer value (as it did with Clyne), signing a new 1 year contract would be the equivalent of handing over several million pounds in return for a salary increase that might amount to 1-2m maximum.

If a player leaves without requesting it they have the remainder of their contract or a portion of it paid up by the selling club. If we can tie him down for another year or two and off him an immediate increase in wages then it won't make much difference when the player leaves, they'll get more money anyway but at least the club will make more on him when they sell him. All depends whether the player thinks about the club though, and to be fair if they're just employees why should they.

Will be interesting, 2 rookie left backs likely to be starting, Targett for us and Galloway for them.

Or Gareth Barry as they switched to in last game. Either way as much as I like Mane through the middle think this is a good game for him to play out wide on right and attack this weakness. Also means we can have more balance to the side.

Stek

Soares Yohshida Fonte Targett

Davis Wanyama Romeu(if ready if not JWP)

Mane Pelle Tadic

I'd go with:

--------------Stek-----------------

Cedric---Fonte---Yoshida---Targett

--------Wanyama---Romeu--------

---------------Davis----------------

Tadic---------Pelle----------Mane

With bench from Kelvin, Cuco, Juanmi, Long, Jay, JWP, Harrison

I don't know why some are moaning. We have a very good squad with ever improving strength in depth, and the season is early.

I will go for 3-2 Saints

Ticket sales looking online.......

Blocks 1-14 (Itchen) = 107 available

Blocks 15-21 (Chapel) = 280 available

Blocks 32-39 (Chapel) = 27 available

Blocks 40-43 (Northam) = 213 (but most of these in Block 43 which was returned from Everton

Total available = 627 (Doesn’t include hospitality or Everton fans)

I'd go with:

---------------Stekelenburg----------

Cedric---Fonte---Yoshida---Targett

--------Wanyama---Romeu--------

----------------JWP----------------

Mane---------------------------Tadic

--------------Pelle-------------------

Don't think there's any need to play Davis when playing Romeu and Wanyama (maybe away from home though). Also, Mane is much better in the middle but we have to target the young Everton left-back with our best attacking player. Very worried about Targett if Miralles or Deulofeo plays though.

I think I would select this team:

------------------Incredible Stekkers-----------------------

Cedric Sneer-----Fonte-----Yoshi-------------Targett

----------------Wanyama--------Reed----------------------

Tadic--------------------Mane--------------------Davis

------------------------------Pelle--------------------------

Bench: Gazzarniger, Martina, Caulker, Romeu, Juanmi, Long, Jay Rod

Reed had a good game against Everton last season and I don't see merit in rushing Classie or playing Romeu from the start.

It shows our squad depth that JWP can't even make the bench and if Classie was fit then neither would Reed. If we sign VvD then Caulker would probably also have the day off.

Come on now. It's Stekkers with Tekkers. You're welcome

Just leave JWP out put Mane in the middle and put Long up against their youngster.

Would seem nuts to me to rush Romeu into first xi after barely training with saints players.

Personally if Davis is going to be moved further forward then Harrison reed is the obvious candidate to start.

Steak

Soares fonte yoshida targett

Wanyama reed

Tadic mane Davis

Pelle

Subs: gazza, martins, Romeu, long, Jrod, Juanmi, jwp

Haha. Who the hell thought this would be a great song to get the crowd going before a Southampton FC match?

Scary.

Never mind all of that, what we need is to bring back the Albion Band....

Agreed. Our pre-match music is dreadful.

I don't know why but I've got a feeling Jaunmi will start this one. I don't have a very good success rate with my hunches though...

agreed, instead of JRod

Won't be able to make this game so tried to sell my season ticket seat back, but because it hasn't sold out (checked the seat map - it's all single seats, I thought you couldnt buy tickets if you left single seats!) i'm not allowed to sell my ticket back.

Yeah, that condition was pretty clear though I thought. And there are no guarantees that your seat will be sold, either.

It was clear, it's just the fact that there are only single seats remaining - meaning the game most likely won't sell out - that has annoyed me.

Not sure where you are looking there are plenty of non single seats left. Hundreds left in block 43. Also blocks 15, 16. The game won't sell out.

The first test of the buy back option will probably be Man Utd, although in my experience your best bet is to sell the ticket at a reduced rate to a friend / relative / colleague.

Dunno why they bother, kills the atmosphere before kick off.

i don't get how single seats remain when the ticketing website doesn't allow it.

I expect the restriction can be overridden by the ticket office for phone or in-person bookings on a discretionary basis

I think it's great! it always makes me laugh, especially at how much it makes everyone cringe

I agree its not really needed, but this choice does amuse me :p

Some of the singles exist before tickets go on general sale due to STs. The restriction is not there when STs are sold, and of course some individuals do not renew.

Caulker sinus infection

According to Koeman it's a seenus infection.

Mrs. h overheard the press conference and thinks he's got a penis infection.

They've "tried to do it in a trendy way", so obviously it will be well cool and that.

There's a rap in it. It'll be great.
